Since COVID started, most people work from home and through virtual means. We are seeing an increase in screen time from everyone, especially from young people who are going through virtual schooling. The increased screen time and lack of blinking while staring at the screen causes people of all ages to develop dry eyes as well as other visual complications, such as a significant shift in their prescription toward nearsightedness.
The masks also create opportunities for dry eyes. As we breathe, our breaths are vented upward by our masks… this causes the air to circulate and blow into our eyes constantly.
Combined this cycle with increased screen time creates the perfect situation for dry eyes.
Ask your eye doctor how to circumvent this vicious cycle.
