Downey is the Founder and Lead Consultant at Zaanes International, a strategic cultural impact consultancy and D.H. Carver Clinical Research, a clinical research consultancy focused on increasing clinical trials competence and participation in the Black community. He is Lead Clinical Researcher at RTI International in Research Triangle Park, NC where heco-founded the company’s first ever Black Employee Resource Group (BERG), now with a membership of over 200 in just three years, and currently serves as the Co-Chair for Internal Recruitment and on the Steering Committee of the BERG. Additionally, he serves as Chair of the RTI Health Solutions Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Council, advising company executive leadership on how to leverage and manage its cultural impact around the globe.
