Today, I wanted to do another
0:00
kind of podcast, a podcast that
0:05
can really help you. Every time
0:05
something happens at work or in
0:10
your life that is really
0:10
affecting you. Maybe you feel
0:14
completely overwhelmed or
0:14
stressed for the time being, or
0:18
maybe a problem came up and
0:18
you're afraid that you might
0:21
fail, or you have to disappoint
0:21
someone or your heart was just
0:26
broken, you missed the
0:26
promotion, or you just made a
0:29
mistake, or were given negative
0:29
feedback, or you screwed up a
0:34
presentation. Well, there is an
0:34
African proverb that says smooth
0:39
seas do not make skillful
0:39
sailors. And a crisis or
0:45
challenge is often an
0:45
opportunity to grow. And I know
0:49
that life only gives me what I
0:49
can handle, it is here to teach
0:53
me and to help me grow. It
0:53
pushes me out of my comfort
0:58
zone. But sometimes it can
0:58
really feel hard and feel like
1:03
it's too much. When I face a big
1:03
challenge that makes me feel
1:08
bad, I want to escape that
1:08
feeling at all costs. And
1:13
sometimes I then act from a
1:13
place of fear, or of anger or
1:18
sadness or resignation. Instead
1:18
of responding from a place of
1:22
love, or with actions truly
1:22
aligned with my values and with
1:28
who I really am. And that way I
1:28
reach my desired outcome. And
1:33
that's when I grow and reach
1:33
amazing results. But to get
1:37
there, I often like listening to
1:37
a meditation. And that's what I
1:41
wanted to offer to you as well.
1:41
A meditation you can listen to
1:47
every time you face a big
1:47
challenge, and that meditation
1:51
will help you feel better and
1:51
act with more skillful action.
1:56
So let's start. I'm Murielle. co
1:56
mom, an educator, I used to work
2:05
really hard and sacrifice the
2:05
important things to me until I
2:09
lost my motivation. Fast
2:09
forwards past many failed
2:13
attempts and lessons learned.
2:13
And I found a way to reach great
2:17
results while working less.
2:17
Today, I'm obsessed with helping
2:21
other leaders build meaningful
2:21
lives. So each week I'll be
2:25
sharing inspiration to change
2:25
your life and organisation. This
2:30
is rebel leader with a hearts I
2:30
want you to enjoy meditating. So
2:40
sit as comfortably as possible.
2:40
loosen those shoulders, loosen
2:47
up your jaw. Sometimes I feel
2:47
that it can help to first
2:52
contract everything as much as
2:52
possible, until you feel like
2:57
completely releasing everything.
2:57
Open your mind and your heart.
3:05
And just let's see what happens.
3:05
Now close your eyes and take
3:12
three deep breaths in by the
3:12
nose and out by the mouth.
3:51
check in to see if your body is
3:51
relaxed. Nope. I don't want you
3:57
to be the Dalai Lama. Just be
3:57
yourself. Or like Oscar Wilde
4:02
would say, Be yourself because
4:02
everyone else is already taken.
4:10
We all know that life is full of
4:10
challenges. And it's how you
4:14
accept and handle these
4:14
challenges that makes you who
4:19
you are. It's what defines you.
4:19
Now I want you to bring that
4:26
challenge in front of you. Try
4:26
to visualise this challenge in a
4:33
bubble just in front of your
4:33
eyes. Some of you might find it
4:42
difficult to visualise it and
4:42
that's okay. Just think about it
4:46
then. Now let's see how this challenge
4:53
is making you feel What's the
5:00
story? You tell yourself about
5:00
this challenge? Simply notice
5:07
your thoughts without judging
5:07
them. They simply are thoughts,
5:13
and we all have them. And what is the emotion you
5:27
currently feel? Do you feel
5:32
anger, sadness, frustration,
5:32
confusion, guilt, or maybe some
5:43
heaviness. Whatever you feel,
5:43
just observe that feeling. It's
5:50
okay. And what is happening in your
5:56
body, your body is often
6:01
reacting. And it's important to
6:01
listen to it. Because when we
6:06
don't listen to our body, that's
6:06
when sometimes we ignore
6:11
important things and important
6:11
signals. So do you feel some
6:17
tension, some movements, warmth,
6:17
coldness, some pain, maybe just
6:29
try to notice what you feel. And
6:29
stay with it for a moment.
6:39
Maybe the sensation is
6:39
uncomfortable, but it's okay.
6:44
You can stay with it for a
6:44
moment longer. Nothing is going
6:49
to happen if you stay with that
6:49
sensation. And it's often
6:54
because we want to escape the
6:54
sensation that we end up
6:59
reacting instead of putting the
6:59
actions in place that will lead
7:03
to our desired outcome. So try
7:03
to bring some gratitude to what
7:10
you feel. I know it might sound
7:10
counterintuitive, to show
7:16
gratitude for this challenge or
7:16
for your negative sensations.
7:21
Just remember that it's because
7:21
of our negative emotions that we
7:26
can adapt. Without those
7:26
negative feelings, we wouldn't
7:30
grow. And we wouldn't have
7:30
survived as humans. So bring
7:36
some tenderness and gratitude to
7:36
what you feel. It's your body
7:43
that is trying to keep you safe.
7:43
And you are safe now, and you
7:50
are worthy. Don't try to change
7:50
anything for now. You are
7:56
growing and be grateful for
7:56
that. You're just like a
8:00
butterfly that is about to come
8:00
out of its cocoon. And if you
8:06
feel some resistance, that's
8:06
okay to just show some gratitude
8:11
for that resistance. You are an
8:11
amazing person that is about to
8:17
overcome yet another challenge.
8:17
And I know that life has thrown
8:24
many challenges at you, but
8:24
haven't you always overcome
8:28
them? There is another quotes
8:28
that I love. Challenges is what
8:35
makes life interesting. And
8:35
overcoming them is what makes
8:41
life meaningful. And maybe you
8:41
think, no, but I don't want an
8:48
interesting life. Just give me
8:48
some peace and quiet. But you
8:52
know, that's not who you are.
8:52
You would get bored if nothing
8:57
challenging ever happened. But I
8:57
know that growing can hurt. Life
9:04
is simply here to teach you
9:04
something. So look at this
9:09
challenge and see it as an
9:09
opportunity instead of a
9:13
punishment, or a problem. You
9:13
can even ask your challenge a
9:22
question. What are you trying to
9:22
teach me? And just let go, sit
9:33
still and see what answer
9:33
emerges. You don't have to do
9:39
anything. Just allow the answer
9:39
to rise. What are you trying to
9:45
teach me some Challenges keep coming back
9:59
until you figure it is out and
10:05
grow. But the difference is that
10:05
today, you are listening. In the
10:13
past, you might have resisted
10:13
this challenge, or handled it
10:17
with anger, frustration or
10:17
resignation, but not today.
10:24
Today you have gratitude for it.
10:31
And now, I want you to think
10:31
about what is important for you.
10:37
What comes up for you? What do
10:37
you deeply care about.
10:54
Just keep that in mind as you
10:54
are about to come out of this
10:58
meditation and continue your day
10:58
with a new energy. Today, you
11:06
can truly live your day and you
11:06
embrace what life's puts in
11:11
front of you, instead of
11:11
resisting it. Now take a deep
11:16
breath. You were amazing and you did
11:24
great work here. So whenever you
11:30
are ready, you can let go of
11:30
this challenge. Start slowly
11:36
moving your toes and fingers you
11:36
can slowly stretch
11:52
and open your eyes. Have a
11:52
wonderful day.
