Guys, welcome back to another episode of RED.

0:03

It's that everyday podcast for the everyday people, and, as always, I am Rashawn Jr, your host, bringing you all school news each and every single week.

0:15

Now, this particular week, I thought it would be practical for us to discuss the challenges of teenage and young courtship romances, and so that theme is under the category when a breakup occurs or when a courtship ends, if you're familiar with that term.

0:36

We're going to base our theme on a series of subjects that are designed to help you cope with a breakup, or if you know someone to help them, you cope with a breakup, or if you know someone to help them to cope with a breakup.

0:47

The first thing to consider in connection with the breakup is what you should know.

0:53

Notice the expressions of a young person named Anna.

0:57

She says I thought I had found the right person for me.

1:01

I could spend forever with this guy, I told myself, but after two months of dating, I had to break up with him.

1:08

I couldn't believe that what started so great could end so fast.

1:13

Another young person named Elaine says this it seemed as if we couldn't be more alike.

1:19

In my mind, I already had us married.

1:21

As time passed, however, I began to.

1:25

Here's our first theme in connection with when a breakup occurs, what you should know.

1:39

Number one a breakup can be painful even for the person who initiated it.

1:45

Young persons have confessed that, although they may have been the one to initiate said breakup, it can feel a lot like losing someone in death.

1:58

When you break up with someone, there is a little bit of a grieving process.

2:03

One young woman says I felt terrible.

2:06

She broke up with her boyfriend after six months.

2:11

One minute this person was in my life and in my future.

2:14

The next minute he was gone. Then I'd hear songs that were special for the two of us and that would remind me of the good times we had.

2:23

Well, of course, when you break up with someone, you guys are going to recognize that you will miss that individual and so, even though you're going to have such negative thoughts from time to time in connection with your breakup, you may constantly miss the person, etc.

2:39

Note the number second point, or the second point that can help you on this road to recovery A breakup, though painful, can be a good thing.

2:53

Elaine goes on to say who was mentioned earlier you don't want to hurt the person.

2:57

On the other hand, you realize that eventually it would hurt both of you if you were to pursue a courtship that just isn't working or a relationship.

3:08

So be honest with yourself. When you enter into a relationship, you set standards for yourself.

3:14

You let the other person know what standards you have outlined for yourself for a healthy relationship, and if they cannot meet you halfway then realistically the relationship would be best ended.

3:27

That brings us to our third point.

3:30

A breakup does not make you a failure.

3:33

Oftentimes, when a person's are involved with an individual romantically, they tend to blame themselves in connection with what happened with the courtship.

3:42

Try to avoid that. Really, a successful relationship ends in a decision, not always in marriage.

3:50

It does not mean just because you're going to be with someone that you're necessarily going to progress to being together forever, and so oftentimes, with younger audiences, you can find yourself marrying the idea of being with this person.

4:04

But there are serious potential flaws or challenges that need to be overcome so as to help you grow in this relationship and that can help them grow in this relationship.

4:16

So if you were to ignore these challenges that are arising in this particular relationship, it might not do either of you any benefit.

4:24

Particular relationship it might not do either of you any benefit.

4:30

If either of you are concerned about failing remember, dating someone will allow you not only to get to know that person, but also to know yourself.

4:36

So that leads us into our next topic what you can do when a breakup occurs.

4:43

Number one acknowledge the pain.

4:45

Now Elaine, we are quoting from her quite a bit.

4:48

She says that I lost more than just a friend.

4:50

I lost my best friend. When you break up with someone who was that close, a period of grieving is normal.

4:57

As was mentioned, a relationship has ended, says a young man named Adam, and there's always some pain involved in that, even if you know it for the best.

5:08

So keep acknowledging those feelings, guys.

5:10

Try your best to grow from those feelings.

5:12

Try not to be bitter with your family. Try not to surround yourself with individuals who are going to constantly bring up the relationship, constantly going to make you feel less than.

5:21

Number two associate with people who care about you.

5:25

Now, admittedly, that may not be easy At first, says a girl named Anna who was mentioned earlier.

5:31

She says I didn't want to see people.

5:39

I needed time to recover, to go over everything in my head and make sense of it all. In time, she saw the benefit of associating with persons.

5:43

So it's normal to take time for yourself when you're going through a breakup.

5:47

Do not neglect that time for yourself.

5:49

However, do not prolong that time.

5:52

And here's our final point in connection with what you can do Learn from what happened.

6:00

Oftentimes, people enter relationships out of raw emotion, but there are steps that you can take.

6:05

Try your best to get to know the individual before attaching yourself to them so dramatically.

6:10

Ask yourself has this experience revealed any areas in which I need to grow?

6:15

What, if anything, would I do differently in my next relationship relationship?

6:27

After time has passed, you can be able to analyze how you're progressing in connection with these self-motivating and stirring questions.

6:31

So that's our theme, this particular episode, guys, when a breakup happens or when a relationship ends, what you should know and what you can do to be able to move forward and have a future positive outlook, moving forward from this difficult circumstance.

6:51

Our first story this evening is visiting the home state of my very own, new Jersey, and, like any other story, it's going to take us down a road that is going to be gripping, to say the least.

7:08

Mercer County teacher accused of sexually assaulting her student.

7:12

This is Hamilton Township, new Jersey, as the location.

7:16

A teacher at a Mercer County high school has been charged for allegedly sexually assaulting a student.

7:22

Allegedly sexually assaulting a student.

7:28

Students at Hamilton High School West told Action News they were surprised to hear an English teacher was arrested this week.

7:32

Jessica Sawicki, 37, of Point Pleasant, is facing charges of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

7:40

The Monmouth County prosecutor alleges she had a sexual relationship with a student and on several occasions had encounters with the student at the Asunpik Wildlife Management Area, about 20 minutes from the school.

7:55

The school district published a letter to Families Online addressing the arrest but not naming the teacher.

8:02

Sawicki is now behind bars.

8:06

She is scheduled to appear in Monmouth County Superior Court for a first appearance and detention hearing Friday morning.

8:13

Anyone with information on this case is encouraged to contact the police at 800-533-7433.

8:23

800-533-7433.

8:25

When these stories come to the attention of the RAD team, the first thing that we prioritize is how the student may be feeling, and then we go on to think about how the parent might be feeling, and then we go on to think about how this has affected the student body as a whole.

8:43

These matters are becoming prevalent in connection with society today Not easy for students.

8:49

So what can you do to protect yourself?

8:51

Find confidence in those whom are going to provide you with the best help.

8:56

When things start to seem a little bit not comfortable for you, look for ways to express that to someone so that they can be able to help you as quickly as possible.

9:14

Our next story follows that same level of thinking and connection with questionable conduct that takes place in the school environment.

9:16

We're going to the state of New York now. Creepy New York custodian placed hidden camera in elementary school staff bathroom.

9:22

A janitor at an upstate New York elementary school was busted for secretly recording at least six people by hiding a cell phone inside a faculty bathroom.

9:31

Police said David Ogg, 29, was arrested on Tuesday after the phone was discovered while still recording inside a Voorheesville elementary school employee bathroom by a staff member.

9:44

According to the Voorheesville Elementary School employee bathroom by a staff member.

9:47

According to the Voorheesville Central School District, marcy noted that no other recording devices were found inside the school's bathroom and Aug is no longer allowed on campus while the investigation proceeds, marcy being the staff member representing the school in question.

10:03

Being the staff member representing the school in question, albany County Sheriff Craig Apple said, at least six people were recorded on Aug's phone and it remains unclear how long the evidence and the device was hidden in the bathroom.

10:16

Investigators ultimately seized two phones from the custodian, along with his computer, a hard drive, a USB drive and several memory cards discovered inside his home.

10:28

Aug was charged with six counts of second-degree unlawful surveillance and released to return to court at a later date.

10:37

He was also ordered to stay away from the school's faculty members.

10:41

Aug's case is, surprisingly, not the first of its kind in Albany County.

10:45

Veteran fifth grade teacher Patrick Morgan, 59, was caught secretly recording 28 of his colleagues inside a staff bathroom at the Sand Creek Middle School in 2022.

10:57

These things that come up today in connection with technology are extremely concerning.

11:04

Persons are wondering if these things are ever going to stop in school districts today.

11:10

Our next story is an update in connection with two administrators from a Palm Beach school district that engaged in activity that was quite questionable.

11:23

Two separate accounts, two very unique stories.

11:27

Two former school employees accused of having sexual relationships with students.

11:32

Spiraling down that same line of theme Palm Beach County, florida.

11:38

Two former employees within the school district of Palm Beach County are facing jail time after being accused of sexual misconduct with students, one of whom was in middle school.

11:49

Corey Pierce, 21, of Palm Springs, worked as a middle school substitute teacher at Woodlands Middle School and is accused of messaging students at the school using TikTok and kissing them while on campus.

12:02

Tiktok and kissing them while on campus.

12:08

Meanwhile, jordan Augustine, 21, was a hall monitor at Royal Palm Beach Community High School and faces allegations of having sex with a student while off campus.

12:16

The report states that the two middle school-aged girls went to Pierce's class before their second period class due to one of them having anxiety.

12:24

When they entered his class, he was sitting alone watching a movie.

12:27

One of the girls approached Pierce, while the other stayed by the door.

12:31

The girl standing by the door said that Pierce and the other girl began kissing on the lips.

12:37

The report reads the girl standing by the door said she did not know how to feel and did not think it was right because he was a teacher.

12:46

The report states at one point Pierce got up and checked the classroom window because he thought someone was entering the room.

12:54

As he checked the door, he allegedly tried to kiss the girl who was standing at the door, but she moved her head.

12:59

He then tried to touch her butt, but she moved his hand away.

13:03

The police complaint continued.

13:05

The girl told investigators that she had heard rumors about Pierce messaging other students on TikTok.

13:11

When he messaged her, she reported it to the middle school's therapist.

13:16

The report states On March 29th district police met with Pierce at Jehoiakim Garcia High School about the allegations.

13:24

He went into detail about the two students coming into the classroom because one of the girls wasn't feeling well and alleged that one of the girls forced herself on him.

13:33

The report says Pierce confessed to communicating with his students on social media, but said he never communicated with them on TikTok.

13:41

Pierce was then taken into custody.

13:44

The report reads allegations against Augustine were following the same school district.

13:51

In connection with this follow-up story, augustine, 30, was accused of having sex with a girl 13 years younger than him while working at Royal Palm Beach Community High School.

14:02

According to PBSO's arrest report, the 17-year-old girl stated she met Augustine in December of 2023 while he was working as a hall monitor at the school.

14:12

Augustine in December of 2023, while he was working as a hall monitor at the school.

14:15

The two exchanged Instagram accounts where they would communicate.

14:20

The report says on January 28th, augustine came over to her house where he parked in the roadway, the 17-year-old girl climbed into the backseat of her car where the two proceeded to have sex.

14:28

The arrest report stated A friend of the victim, who was at the house in January for a sleepover, witnessed the act.

14:34

The girl told deputies that she had only had sex with Augustine that one time, but that she had met with him at his other job where he worked as a basketball coach.

14:44

The report continues. Deputies made contact with Augustine and he was taken into custody.

14:48

Shortly after their arrest, both schools sent an email to parents and guardians about the two staff members arrested.

14:55

Both Augustine and Pierce have been fired.

14:58

The district announced in a message to parents.

15:02

One of the saddest things that you really come to find in these stories is that the children are the ones who ultimately suffer.

15:08

You can lock these persons up and put them into custody, but there is damage that's being done.

15:13

Now what can you do if this has been your circumstance?

15:17

In both of these cases, there were friends involved.

15:21

Well, if you are a friend of someone who is involved in such misconduct, look to someone that you can be able to express this to.

15:27

In one of the instances, the girl spoke to the school therapist.

15:30

In another instance, someone may talk to another trusted friend, or even a parent or a school resource officer.

15:36

When you take these steps, you're not being a snitch, as it were.

15:41

You are taking steps to protect a friend because you truly love and care for them.

15:47

Our next story follows again another gruesome assault taking place in the school districts and systems.

15:54

This week, stanford elementary school teacher charged with a dozen counts of sex assault.

16:00

A Stanford elementary school teacher has been charged with a dozen counts of sexual assault for allegedly touching kids inappropriately.

16:09

The police department said they arrested Andrew Park, who is accused of inappropriately touching 12 girls.

16:15

All of the victims were Park's students, according to police.

16:19

On February 23, the Department of Children and Families notified the Stanford Police Department of the allegations.

16:26

The police department then opened their own investigations.

16:30

Investigators said 12 girls at strawberry hill elementary school claimed they were inappropriately touched by one of their teachers.

16:37

Park was arrested on friday and he faces charges including 12 counts of fourth degree sexual assault and 12 counts of risk of injury to a minor.

16:48

He is being held on a $175,000 bond and is set to appear in court on Monday.

16:54

The police department is looking for additional victims, but nothing further has been heard.

17:03

When I think about these young persons who are getting caught up in this kind of trauma in connection with these school faculty members, the parents' thoughts really really are echoed in connection with these stories, because you trust these individuals to take care of your children, and this is what is a result of you putting your trust in the circumstance.

17:23

So, parents, what are some things that you can do?

17:26

Strive not to blame yourself when these things happen.

17:29

Look for ways to be able to endure such harsh treatment and circumstances.

17:37

I know that in times past, persons have mentioned that the road to recovery in this aspect is violence, but violence does not allow you to channel your hurt emotions and build on them constructively, with your child as the victim.

17:51

Take positive steps and you'll be able to reap positive results.

17:55

We wish you guys all the best in connection with this story, as well as the others that were discussed on tonight's episode.

18:02

It is not easy to recover from such harsh and heinous treatment.

18:07

The next story follows that same road of difficulty and tragedy that continues in the school system today.

18:16

Teacher at Cyfair High School accused of having sex with student.

18:19

We're now in the location of Cypress, texas.

18:22

18:30

Sex with a student on at least two occasions. Caden Burbank, 29, is in the Harris County Jail with a bond of $60,000.

18:38

He is charged with improper relationship with a student.

18:45

Court documents say Burbank's girlfriend found out about the relationship after going through his phone and finding text messages between Burbank and the student.

18:51

When his girlfriend confronted Burbank, he allegedly told her the relationship was with a 15-year-old student of his.

18:59

Police were able to speak to the student, who told them on February 7th.

19:03

Burbank told her that he liked her.

19:05

The student said Burbank gave her his phone number on February 20th.

19:10

The student said later Burbank and her kissed in a classroom and had sex.

19:15

According to the court documents, a forensic interview was done with the student and she allegedly told authorities that she and Burbank had engaged in sexual activity one day in a classroom.

19:28

The document said the two Cut Go back to that part.

19:36

A forensic interview was done with the student and she allegedly told authorities that she and Burbank had engaged in sexual activity one day in a classroom.

19:45

The document said the student told authorities that Burbank had given her a pass to leave her second period class that day and meet him in a classroom.

19:54

She allegedly told police the same day Burbank picked her up across the street after school and they had sex.

20:01

The student said on another occasion Burbank picked her up from across the school and parked at another location and the two engaged in sexual activity.

20:11

The document said the student told police Burbank had reserved a hotel room on March 25th and the two of them had sex in the room.

20:19

The student couldn't remember the name of the hotel but said it was eight minutes away from the school.

20:24

Authorities were able to confirm the student's story in connection with the time the motel was reserved.

20:32

The room was reserved and they were able to corroborate her details with what really happened.

20:40

Police were able to review school security footage showing the student had left her second period class and gone to the classroom.

20:47

She said she had went to meet Burbank.

20:50

Burbank was arrested Tuesday.

20:52

He was supposed to appear in court on Thursday morning but the date was rescheduled.

20:59

This individual, mr Burbank, has a series, a series of incidences that occur with this student.

21:07

I know that the families are devastated in connection with this story and the RAD team wants to wish your family a well recovery.

21:16

It's a process. It's a grieving process when you find out that your child has been involved in something like this.

21:23

We hope that you guys are going to be able to take those steps moving forward to make a better tomorrow, not only for the victim involved but for your entire family.

21:32

To make a better tomorrow not only for the victim involved but for your entire family.

21:36

In this next story you can really be able to grasp just how deranged or out of hand things have become and connection in the world of a young adult Teens charged with breaking into Miami Middle School causing extensive damage.

21:49

We're now going into Miami Florida. An 18-year-old has been arrested, accused of breaking into a South Florida middle school and leaving a mess of destruction in its path.

22:10

Police say Mayorga and four other kids forced their way inside the school just after midnight Saturday to School over the weekend.

22:13

Police say Mayorga and four other kids forced their way inside the school just after midnight Saturday to carry out the crime.

22:17

Inside one of the classrooms, a number of computers, printers and a Promethean board, which is an interactive learning smart board were all damaged beyond repair.

22:29

On the night of the incident, police say they caught the group in the act.

22:32

Desks were tossed, it flipped upside down and a fire extinguisher had been discharged all over a classroom.

22:39

The teen tried to run, but officers said they caught Mayorga and two minors, who are all now getting a tough lesson about the law.

22:48

Mayorga is now facing charges of criminal mischief over $1,000, unoccupied burglary, possession of cannabis, luring or enticing a child and obstructing a fire prevention device.

23:02

When asked why they destroyed the property, one of the defendants told a responding officer that they were doing their homework.

23:10

Well, unfortunately, these are some of the things that young people get involved in today, but I will say this is the first story in connection with the uniqueness of their response they're doing their homework.

23:24

As for the school staff that's been affected by this heinous crime, we wish you guys all the best and hope that school was able to resume in a swift and quick manner For the teachers involved in connection with this heinous incident, this gross misuse of free will and abusing school property.

23:44

We know that it's going to be a difficult cleanup and hopefully the mess has already been taken care of in connection with this incident, but it's difficult when people use their free will in order to take advantage of others.

23:57

But at the same time, we don't know the full context of the story.

24:00

So hopefully there was a little bit more motivation behind what these boys did, just giving them the benefit of the doubt.

24:07

Maybe they were angry because they failed a test, or maybe they were angry because they felt as though the teacher was picking on them.

24:14

Well, we'll continue to follow up if anything should progress.

24:16

This next story is going to be a follow up for the context of a middle school whom is not giving up hope.

24:26

On Elijah Vu. We're going into Two Rivers, wisconsin Vu we're going into Two Rivers, wisconsin.

25:57

But students at LB Clark Middle School are looking to keep hope alive.

26:02

The Sources of Strength student organization is continuing to distribute hope for Elijah bracelets and even dropped off some for investigators last week.

We are hoping that something transpires in connection with Elijah Vu's disappearance.

26:50

A three-year-old missing out there in the world on his own certainly stirs up the emotions and makes you wonder just what happened to Elijah Vu.

26:59

In this next story you'll be able to see just how difficult transportation can be, even in connection with school and its environment.

29:18

We wish all of the victims involved a well recovery.

29:22

In connection with this unforeseen occurrence, the following story follows the tragic death of a young 15-year-old teenager.

Well, I can certainly say, although most students don't want to be in school on Saturday, some truly cherish their education and if this is a method that's going to help the student grow in their knowledge and learning, then why not?

36:24

There are some students today who are desperately deprived because they're not getting that one-on-one time that they need, because the classroom environment may just be a little too far-paced and fast-paced for them.

You know, back when I was in high school and school we had our moments in connection with trying to be the macho guy or trying to be the class clown, but this is just a new level of ingenuity.

It's very unfortunate that the outcome was down this path.

39:32

In particular, my wife asks hey, maybe it was a senior prank.

39:36

It's about that time. Well, the sad truth is, senior pranks and things that were done in the past are not really put in the best light today, and so, as times adjust, we have to adjust our mentalities as best we can to be able to keep ourselves out of trouble.

39:51

We wish this student the best as he deals with these circumstances.

41:41

I'm tragically, tragically worried about young persons today.

41:45

This entire show was designed to be able to help you all cope with the challenges you face in school.

41:51

If you notice something is not working properly in your school, speak up.

41:56

Years ago, a person's had this mindset that if I said something then I would be telling on persons, or if I said something I would be bullied.

42:06

But the issues of speaking and communicating today are so severe and so powerful that you could save someone's life by just speaking up.

42:14

So look for opportunities, guys, not to be in other people's business.

42:17

We're not encouraging you to do that, but if you see something that could lead to danger, speak up about it so that you may wish you guys, you victims, a well.

42:24

Speedy recovery that's often said on this show, because recovery can take a long time.
