10th September 2017 AM- Preacher: Jim de Witte- Bible Passage: Mark 10:32-34- This passage in Mark 10 describes the turning point in Mark's gospel of the life and ministry of Jesus. It tells us that Jesus is making His way to Jerusalem and to those who wanted to kill Him. As we listen to the conversation that takes place, we discover that Jesus is actually expecting to suffer and die. He is preparing the disciples for what is about to happen. They can sense the imminent danger and are quite alarmed and afraid. They straggle reluctantly behind him as He walks along the Jerusalem road. Jesus did not have to go to Jerusalem at that time, but He was determined to do so. Jesus was no failure, because the Cross was the crucial part of His great work. Nor was He a fool who had misjudge the timing of His mission, He knew what He was doing and He knew when the time was right. As we read these verses we should be in awe and wonder at the love of God through Jesus, that set Him on this journey to the cross.
