Hi Guys. I really enjoyed your discussion this wonderful movie. My wife and I (re)watched this a month or two ago. I have seen this many times over the past 60+ years, but this was Chris's first viewing (that she could remember). The cast is perfect for this film but I have never thought that this film could be an Ealing comedy. For me it is one of the greats of that era from Rank, and is very much in keeping with their comedies. I do not think that would have made this either. For me it does not have the feel of an Earling comedy. The struggle against adversity which is so often a feature them, is the underdog rising to the top against the establishment, whilst this is the establishment (upper middle-class) battling it self whilst having a dirty weekend. so although there may have been the behind the scenes issues, I cannot picture this as an Earling, for me it is a great film but is a great Rank film. BTW thanks for the time and effort making this podcast and thanks to SeeingHear for introducing this Aussie to it. I hope at some stage you are able to review "The Bridal Path" a delightful 50s Scottish comedy with a very young Gordon Jackson before he needed to start shaving (at least he looks so young) .Dave
