Batman: Mask of the Phantasm

Is it possible that one of the best Batman films is animated and failed at the box office. Yes. Batman: Mask of the Phantasm is a weird little gem that upon inspection does raise some questions such as; Where the hell does Commissioner Gordon go? or; Does the Joker die at the end?
