In the Gospel reading today, Jesus tells the parable of the Pharisee who thanks God that he’s better than other people. In contrast, we heard St. Paul writing to Timothy and sharing his desire that those who persecute him are forgiven. The Pharisee offers judgment. St. Paul offers grace. The sermon was based on 2 Timothy 4:6-8,16-18 and Luke 18:9-14. It was preached at Mount Olivet Episcopal Church and the Free Church of the Annunciation.
