Coming from the financial industry years ago I have always found it a bit odd that some folks can hover over their portfolio’s and the trends of the market but yet could not give much if any details to the health of their largest asset, their homes!  With the internet some check their investments on a daily basis which I do not recommend unless you manage stress well but as far as some go with their home is looking on one of “those” sites that conjure up an estimate and feel they have all they need to know.  Funny thing is myself, along with many other Real Estate professionals offer free market analysis for residential properties.  These analysis include a wealth of information on your neighborhood such as but not limited to comparable homes that have been sold recently, homes currently on the market, average days on market, average sales price, market trends over the years and much more.  The real estate market tends to be a bit more stable than the stock market so you do not need a quarterly report on your home but asking for a report on a yearly basis is not a bad idea at the very least every other year.    This will keep you abreast of any market trends and keep you in the know on the health of the market your home and biggest asset (for most) is in.  You can also compare this analysis with your tax appraisal to gauge the Tax man’s accuracy.  I would be glad to get to work on your home analysis and help you get in the “know”, just reach out to me and I will get started.
