Adela Jamal is no stranger to being an only. Born in Bangalore, India to an Indian father and white American mother Adela's fair skin made her stand out. At an early age she moved to the US although she looked like the other kids at school she was one of the only biracial students. After graduating college she took her first her first job in Silicon Valley where she was often the only women in a room to today as a female investor where women make up less than 13% of venture capital decision makers.
On today’s episode Adela shares how she saw her onlyness was not a hinderance but instead a superpower. Her unique perspective was a strength that has continued to serve her well. Adela also discusses how the use of pauses to reflect enable her to continue taking big risks and move forward with intention.
Adela Jamal has an MBA from MIT and is a co-founding partner for Milemark Capital, an early-stage venture capital firm investing in diverse teams using applied-ai to rewrite existing business models.
