An up close and personal discussion with world-renowned architect David Sellers.

An inspirational leader, David launched today's design/build process, strengthening the architect's role in society. His improvisational, entrepreneurial approach - championing craftsmanship, artistry, and sustainability - has created a 50 year legacy of architecture, products, and town plans.

I have known David since the early 1970’s, closely working with him in the innovative Design+Construction Program at Goddard College in Plainfield, Vermont where I was a Graduate Teaching Fellow. I was drawn to the November 1971 "Organic architecture at Goddard College" article in Progressive Architecture magazine featuring the highly unique and engaging buildings at Goddard. Amazed by the developing design work and the story behind the buildings, I called David Sellers and he simply said, "Filarski, get on up here", beginning a forty plus year friendship and amazing journey not only in design but also a journey and an ongoing dialogue in rigorous design thinking at all scales of our environment. I hope this interview will help David inspire you as he has me.
