Hey, it's Ryan with Role playing public radio.

0:02

We're playing Trophy Dark, The

0:04

Flocculent Cathedral. This is part two.

0:07

I am not running this Jason Cordova

0:09

of the gauntlet publishing is

0:12

running this as as as he did last

0:14

time. And So,

0:17

I guess, we should start with a recap. Howard

0:19

Bauchner: Yeah, great. Thank you so much. So,

0:22

yeah, why don't we recap a little bit? What happened

0:24

last time? So You

0:27

all are playing treasure hunters who

0:29

have gone into this this

0:31

swampy forest, this

0:33

swampy somewhat

0:36

sacred forest called the Gloming Meyer.

0:38

It's a mangrove dense fin. And

0:41

the incursion for trophidark, the the the

0:43

infrastructure, the incursion has five

0:46

parts to it. We call them rings, and you did

0:48

the first two rings. And the first ring

0:50

was you're sort of arriving at

0:52

the Gloaming Meyer and having to

0:54

negotiate and navigate the situation

0:56

with a group of bandits who were

1:00

we're kind of blocking away. And

1:03

we had a lot of interesting things happen

1:05

in that situation. It the

1:07

culmination was

1:10

the appearance of this sort of mythical

1:13

bear creature that that

1:16

killed all of the the the

1:19

bandits in a very, very gruesome

1:22

but also a sort of, like,

1:25

religious way. And so

1:28

you all got past the bandits. You

1:30

had with you a woman

1:34

named Jhoffre who you

1:37

eventually lost track of for reasons

1:39

we'll get 2 in a bit, but she was with the

1:41

group for a time. She had been

1:44

captured by the bandits or was prisoner

1:46

by the bandits? In

1:48

Ring two, you

1:51

were trying to survive and

1:53

indeed get past

1:56

a massive swarm of bugs.

1:58

That's basically what was

2:00

happening. And you managed to do

2:02

that. But in the doing of it,

2:05

Yaffray revealed herself to be

2:07

a saint. And in this setting, the

2:09

principal religion is the religion of the

2:12

sisters, these saints who

2:15

are all each of them has, like, their own, like, kind

2:17

of, domain of

2:19

influence and this

2:22

saint, she claimed to be Saint Fatima,

2:24

of the charcoal burners. And indeed,

2:26

we had a really interesting scene where

2:28

Baz's character lit

2:31

her on fire thinking, not

2:33

knowing it was the same. And then she sort of

2:36

her human form sort of burned away

2:38

and revealed herself

2:40

to be Saint Fatima. The characters

2:43

themselves are all dealing with some

2:45

increasingly bad conditions that

2:48

they gain just from being in the glowing mire

2:50

or glowing mire. In

2:52

particular, Orland. Something's

2:56

going on with Orland's tongue. There

2:59

There's like little feelers or

3:01

or something growing on Orland's tongue and

3:03

tickling the roof of Orland's mouth.

3:06

It's just mannebans. Hey, mannebans.

3:08

Yeah. The big deal. And

3:12

Pada Pada is

3:14

starting to see everything in green, which is

3:16

interesting. I don't think Aqule even

3:18

got a condition because Ocala started at room four and

3:20

has not gone up yet. So that's sort of

3:22

the deal with Ocala. Do

3:25

you all have any questions about kind of that was a really

3:27

high level recap there's a lot of, like, little

3:29

tiny details that happen. But if there's anything

3:31

you wanna cover or remind me of or remind

3:34

the group of or ask a question

3:35

about, now is the time to do that? Yeah. Yeah. Just

3:37

at the green tinted vision. Yeah. guess that that's it.

3:40

Yeah. I guess we should reintroduce our our players.

3:43

I'm Ross. I'm playing part of the sorcerer. Who

3:46

is a background is a usurp for Royal,

3:49

and he wants to win the heart of the heir

3:51

apparent of Naganae. So

3:53

Mhmm. Yeah. It's

3:56

going great so far. Yeah. Caleb.

4:01

I'm Caleb. I'm of Delta Green Dead channels

4:03

that have it on games. I'm playing Orland

4:05

who is an herbalist and an emboldened

4:07

rat catcher. Yeah.

4:11

Alright. It it's going well except for his

4:13

temporary girlfriend being

4:16

conflaggerated like the Centronel candle

4:18

to keep the mosquitoes away. But other

4:20

than

4:20

that, things are fine. Yeah.

4:23

And after what she excelled at, she did a

4:25

very

4:25

good job. Very combustible. Yeah.

4:28

Yes. Hi. I'm BaaS.

4:30

Future Wolfskin on Twitch. I am playing

4:32

accolade a cultist

4:35

icona class trying to take

4:37

down the corrupt

4:39

religious orders that these pools

4:42

follow --

4:42

Mhmm. -- and reestablish the

4:45

cotadero on. Mhmm. We

4:47

haven't figured out what Daro Wan really is. I don't

4:49

even know what Daro Wan is. I don't need to know.

4:52

We don't have something to do with tattoos. We didn't figure

4:54

that out. That's what's that's what's probably

4:55

being

4:56

it. You don't have to know the cause. You just have to

4:58

be down for the cause. Exactly. Exactly.

5:00

It's fair.

5:02

Yeah. So great. Thank you everybody for introductions.

5:06

The last

5:06

the very last thing we saw you all doing is

5:08

you were taking refuge in this sort

5:10

of crumbled structure that was lined

5:13

with statues of of

5:16

the of the sisters, of some of the sisters.

5:18

And we got to see you all sort

5:21

of showing how you either honor the sisters

5:23

or profane their shrine. And

5:26

I also described how that swarm of

5:28

bugs had formed itself into almost

5:30

like the vaulted ceiling of a cathedral buzzing

5:34

loudly overhead as you

5:36

sort of did this worship

5:40

and or heresy. With

5:42

the saint statues. And that was the conclusion

5:44

of Ring two. We'll just

5:46

dive right in to Ring

5:48

three. I think the next

5:52

few hours pass

5:54

in kind of a haze.

5:58

A very green haze for one of you.

6:00

But nevertheless, they not

6:04

much of it I would say sticks in your

6:06

memory. You're even though you managed to

6:08

survive the swarm, you all have been

6:11

received dozens and dozens

6:13

of bug bites. That

6:15

is probably and it is it

6:17

is making you ill and feverish. There's

6:20

no attempt to make camp Everyone

6:24

just sort of collapses at

6:26

a certain point as they get deep into

6:28

the woods. And

6:30

sleeps and tries to recover.

6:33

You've ended up in a sort of narrow band

6:35

of stone outcrops and there

6:38

is more solid ground in this part of the cooling

6:40

wire that you're in. It does

6:42

make it easy to collapse

6:45

down and rest. And whenever

6:47

you wake up, you'll be also be

6:49

able to get a good view of the woods

6:51

ahead, but also what you've

6:53

left behind. But everyone just

6:55

sleeps, no watch. No

6:58

conversation about what just happened. It's

7:01

just overwhelming fatigue

7:04

and fever and you

7:06

dream. I mentioned

7:09

last time that you should all be thinking a lot about

7:12

your drives as a general

7:14

matter. What it would mean to accomplish

7:16

your drive? What does your drive even

7:18

stand for? And

7:21

I think you're all going to dream of

7:24

your drive. I would like for everyone

7:26

to think about the

7:29

moment that their drive like

7:31

the moment that your drive became important

7:34

to you, that that

7:36

turning point in your life where you said,

7:39

this is what I have to do. I

7:42

would like for you to describe that

7:44

moment in the

7:45

dream. And then I would like

7:47

for another player to describe

7:50

how that dream is

7:53

becoming a nightmare, in particular,

7:55

a nightmare connected to this swamp

7:58

to bugs, perhaps to burning

8:00

saints, whatever you whatever

8:02

you wanna do. But whoever wants

8:04

to describe their dream

8:05

first, go ahead and 2

8:07

so? So Parta is

8:11

a user of royal. So

8:14

when he was a child, his

8:16

family was,

8:19

you know, taken out and essentially

8:21

a coup and Parda

8:25

was a young child, young enough,

8:27

you know, like ten or twelve. And

8:31

he fled and

8:35

remembers seeing

8:37

two of the rival families, squires,

8:41

seeing him you

8:43

know, covered in blood of

8:45

my, you know, dead family members, terrified

8:48

and then just laughing at

8:51

my character not thinking that he

8:53

was a threat. They didn't even bother

8:55

to kill me because I was

8:57

that pathetic to them. At least that's

9:00

how I perceived it. Seeing

9:03

them wiping their bloody

9:05

swords off and laughing at me

9:07

and just walking away in the cold of the

9:09

night outside the castle, terrified

9:13

me and also just

9:16

the utter. I'll show them a

9:18

a kind of hate. And so

9:21

the dream melds into

9:24

being married to the heir of Nagana and

9:26

marching back on that same

9:29

castle, which has fallen into disrepair, the

9:31

rival family, just essentially

9:34

did not manage their their kingdom

9:36

well and it's known to be

9:39

a shitty place of excess and,

9:41

like, fall everything's falling apart. So it would

9:43

be easy to conquer and just coming in

9:46

there and conquering them and, you know,

9:50

reclaiming what is his improving

9:52

them wrong that I I was

9:54

a threat. And that's

10:00

that's my drive. But,

10:02

yeah, seeing the the watching

10:04

on a brilliant morning the faces

10:07

on the old, you know, Squires

10:09

Now Knights when they realized

10:11

their mistake in letting me live. And

10:15

watching their heads go on the chopping block.

10:19

And just admiring and

10:21

feeling the warmth of the sun on my face.

10:23

With my spouse, the

10:26

heir apparent, as we hold hands

10:28

and watch them

10:29

beheaded. I love it. Yeah.

10:31

Caleb, and here I speak to

10:33

you as a player, not as your character. How

10:37

does the Gloaming Meyer or the events

10:39

that you've all experienced? So

10:42

far, how does that start to intrude

10:45

into the

10:47

dream? Into part of

10:49

his dream and make it

10:50

nightmarish, even though it is kind of

10:52

partially nightmarish already, but

10:57

Yeah. All all of the headings stop

10:59

arterial spurting and then

11:02

bloom into virgin green which

11:05

then takes over the headsman's

11:07

block and the scaffold and

11:11

you hear the crowd shouting and

11:14

running back from the spreading

11:16

green tide. And

11:18

then I guess you look over at your beloved and

11:20

she's got don't know, moss

11:23

eyes, some sort of waving

11:25

stock. Yeah.

11:29

Seems pretty nightmarish. Yeah. Compared to

11:31

what you've already described, your French

11:34

revolution.

11:34

Yeah. Dream

11:37

of Yeah. I

11:39

love it. Thank you. Let's

11:42

check-in with Aqualem. Aqualem, describe

11:45

your dream about your drive.

11:48

My drive is to resurrect

11:50

the Colter one. This

11:53

comes from his background of being 2 priest

11:56

that stars the dream begins always as it

11:58

does with being cast out into

12:00

the cold, having no base like,

12:02

no base of operations for his beliefs hitting

12:05

no foundation anymore. And

12:07

the dream takes shape as a as

12:09

a warm heart, the place that he finally feels

12:11

accepted and safe and a place that he

12:13

can, you know, bring others to to help bring

12:15

them out from the cold

12:18

Ross. Mhmm. How does the nightmare

12:20

manifest? As

12:22

accolade is welcoming in

12:26

a new adherent, you know, a new, new

12:28

faithful who want the warm

12:30

warmth of the hearth. One of them

12:34

approaches him totally cloaked

12:36

and hooded. And Like

12:39

I said, oh, you can take your cloak off. It's warm

12:41

in here, please. Warm yourself with

12:43

the fire. The the stranger

12:45

does. And when they pull back their hood, It's

12:48

just insects. Just

12:52

an infinite swarm of insects

12:54

starts swarming out and

12:58

feeling the entire space. They

13:01

they gleefully fly in the fire

13:03

and burning insects start. Lighting

13:05

the tapestries on the walls

13:07

on fire. Everything

13:10

is fire and stinging

13:12

insects.

13:14

Love it. Thank you. And

13:17

Orland, tell us about your dream. I

13:20

suppose mine takes place

13:23

in the floorboards underneath the house

13:27

2 to my small size and the

13:29

the rats that horribly invested our village

13:32

I came to my occupation very early.

13:36

And it's it's hearing my father talk

13:38

about me. And and and realizing

13:40

that, you know, lamenting that my name

13:42

will not be remembered in the village. So

13:45

because though I serve a purpose, it

13:47

is it is temporary. The rats always come

13:50

back. There is

13:52

no permanence to my work. You know,

13:54

I will I will never truly be a founder

13:56

of the people. And

13:59

then just the deep memory of not wanting

14:01

to come out of that crawl space

14:03

afterwards. And and wanting to become

14:05

a wisdom keeper and somebody whose name,

14:07

remember. Yeah.

14:10

That'll be my dream, I guess. Yeah. I

14:12

love it. Paz. Make it nightmarish. That

14:16

reluctance to leave the crawl space

14:20

manifests further into the fact that you

14:22

come to realization that you are indeed

14:24

one of the rats and you swore to hunt.

14:28

Yes. Kafka esque. Yeah. I

14:30

I woke up. Good morning. 2

14:31

myself. You are

14:33

you are the true rodent.

14:38

You have

14:38

your throat. It sounds like a punk band I played

14:40

for once. You have no mouth yet. You must squeak.

14:43

Yeah.

14:47

I'd like for everybody to roll ruin real quick -- Okay.

14:49

-- because of the dreams. Oh,

14:51

it's

14:51

actually even worse, Caleb. You're your

14:54

erection. Hell, no.

14:58

How dare you? Not one of those

15:00

fell beasts. Awesome. It goes up again.

15:04

No. Wait. No. It doesn't. It is less than four.

15:07

It is

15:07

474. Yeah. And

15:09

we got 301 of the four. Everyone's okay on

15:12

ruin. Everyone wakes up. You

15:14

can see the three of each other or

15:16

three of you can see each other. You

15:19

have all been visibly

15:21

scarred by

15:24

not just the events

15:26

of the last couple of days, but also

15:29

their dreams. I

15:31

think that parta,

15:34

you actually have a mossy

15:36

green film over your eyes.

15:39

That you have to wipe out. It

15:42

still causes your vision. It's still you're still

15:44

seeing things in green, but it has started to

15:46

physically manifest now. Okule,

15:50

you can still smell

15:54

the char of Saint Fatima.

15:57

I don't know if this is a scar necessarily, but it's

15:59

certainly something that you're not gonna be able to shake

16:02

because it the burning smell

16:05

in some ways, it was her way of challenging

16:07

your beliefs. Right? Like her her

16:10

appearance was very much accusing.

16:13

Right? It was how

16:15

could you believe such things you're a heretic.

16:18

And by the

16:18

way, look at me burn alive and not even

16:20

care. Look at my power.

16:21

Right? And

16:23

there's a promise of two more saints, somewhere

16:26

in the Glomineer. And

16:28

Orland, perhaps because

16:30

you collapsed away from the RPPR. No one

16:33

sees it. Only you see it.

16:35

But your tongue

16:39

has extended from your mouth as you lay there

16:41

on your back. And it is

16:43

swaying back and forth. It

16:46

is swaying back and forth and almost commuting

16:50

with a small congregation

16:52

of Swamp Berman

16:55

that have collected on your chest. Your

16:58

tongue is whispering.

17:02

To them is

17:04

speaking truth to them.

17:12

And I'm curious what

17:15

you think or how you react. Do

17:17

I is it all green? No.

17:19

Not yours. That's that's just part of. Okay.

17:21

Okay. Your tongue is just a tongue, but it is

17:24

speaking with its own mouth. Okay.

17:28

Well, it's and it's

17:30

much longer than I'm used to spend

17:32

my time, I assume. Yeah. Well,

17:36

I mean, I don't know about Orland.

17:38

My reaction would be cut that thing off,

17:40

but it's probably not safe,

17:43

health wise, the

17:45

Flocculent cathedral doesn't seem like the

17:47

most sterile

17:49

of medical

17:49

environments.

17:53

But he's probably not thinking that. Yeah. I'm gonna try and

17:55

cut my tongue off. That's pretty terrifying. I

17:57

don't want weird serpent

17:58

tongue. I wanted to publish a paper about

18:01

archaeology and the plants

18:03

therein. I

18:05

think when you go for your knife, your

18:08

tongue whispers something to you that gives

18:10

you pause. Maybe it makes you stop,

18:12

maybe it doesn't. I don't know. I'll let you decide. But

18:14

what does it tell you? It tells

18:16

you something true.

18:21

2 understand the truth of nature, you

18:23

must speak its language. There

18:26

we go. Do you still cut your tongue off?

18:28

No. I imagine that will get me caught.

18:30

My tongue's rather eloquent without me.

18:33

So Is it

18:35

still just gonna hang out there? No. That's how you can

18:38

I retract it

18:38

there? You can retract

18:39

it. think just the fact that you were asleep is why

18:41

it was able to do that. Alright. Good. Yeah.

18:43

I didn't wanna go full slow NASH.

18:48

Yeah. That was weird. Yeah.

18:52

Eventually, you all kind of like be together and

18:56

you actually you claps in the

18:58

middle of the day even though you slept, it's

19:01

still the same day just later in the day.

19:03

Mhmm. The sun is a little lower, but it's still

19:05

the same day. Everyone is

19:09

Assuming that you kind of dig around in your pack for

19:11

food or something along those lines, you

19:13

will each discover something in

19:16

your gear that a

19:18

loved one or friend included

19:22

they put in your they put with your staff or they gave

19:24

to you before you left. A

19:26

physical token of their affection. What

19:29

did you find and who is person who left it there?

19:34

Like, something they put in our our pack

19:36

right before we left.

19:38

Yeah. Something you yeah. Like, they

19:40

gave either gave you something or they put it on your person.

19:42

Okay. A elegant,

19:46

like, Grimshaw, like,

19:50

tusk from like a one of

19:52

the large cats of magna carved

19:57

by the heir apparent herself. It

19:59

is. You know,

20:01

has has intricate like

20:03

spirits of protection and and good

20:06

luck charms inscribed

20:08

upon the tusk. And

20:12

I did not and it is bound

20:15

to a chain for as

20:17

a necklace. So I I

20:19

see it and put it on. Nice. Yeah.

20:23

I believe mine will be a

20:26

prism upon a necklace, the

20:28

symbol of our of the state of demonologists,

20:32

going to be by my my Only

20:35

friend in the order before I was kicked out,

20:37

jury. When I was leaving,

20:39

he handed it to me and said, hey, keep me

20:41

safe. I

20:45

have a reliquary of

20:47

Saint Gobina, which is just

20:50

a bit

20:52

of bone stem, which is a plant

20:54

that grows that just has bamboo like hardness,

20:56

but everyone says it's the fingers of grandmother,

20:58

Grobina. And

21:01

dad could not bear to wish me

21:03

luck in my stupid plan go

21:07

investigate ruins, but he he could

21:09

give me, you know, the equivalent

21:12

of a rosary he found on the

21:13

ground. So good for him. As

21:18

as you make your way past this flat

21:21

stony overlook to go

21:23

deeper into the woods in search

21:25

of the Flocculent You'll

21:28

start to see more evidence that this place used

21:30

to be a place of life. Of

21:32

civilization at least. It's very much still

21:34

a place of life. The

21:37

crumbling structure that you left behind was

21:40

the first large piece of

21:42

evidence that there was an ancient people who used

21:44

to be here. The next thing you'll find

21:47

is you're kind of proceeding deeper in is

21:49

what appears to be a handful of ancient

21:53

sort of practiced dummies. They're

21:56

kind of standing up at an ankle deep bog.

21:58

And they've been impaled with rusting

22:00

swords and rotting arrows. And

22:03

there's sprays of dark red moss

22:05

kind of blooming from the wounds

22:09

and quotes the wounds that

22:12

the practice dummy has

22:14

sustained That civilization

22:17

is long gone. It has been replaced

22:19

by fecity, by overwhelming

22:21

life in the gloving wire. At

22:24

one point, you passed by a wide shallow pool,

22:26

perhaps a full sixty feet across, filled

22:29

to overflowing with clutches of frog

22:31

eggs. The size of fat RPPR.

22:34

And of course, there's

22:36

still the buzzing in your ears, there's

22:39

still birdsong. Frog

22:42

song, there are things splashing

22:44

in the distance, and there

22:46

is the overwhelming green.

22:49

Of fresh rampant

22:51

growth everywhere. And

22:55

that concludes at ring three.

22:57

Ring four. Aqule,

23:00

you may recall that you made a friend before,

23:04

someone who shared

23:06

your belief in

23:09

the duplicity of the gods of

23:11

the saints. But it

23:13

seems that that person has

23:15

had something of a conversion since

23:18

then, you all

23:20

can hear him. He's

23:22

ahead of you. In the Glomber Meyer,

23:25

you can hear him whispering prayers,

23:29

except not really whispering. You

23:31

can hear it very clearly what he's saying.

23:35

Saint who spilled their blood for

23:37

me laying in flocculant

23:40

lebri, I seek your light

23:42

upon my brow. I

23:45

would be your trophy now. Trained

23:48

within this dank domain, your relaxed

23:51

soul that I retain, all your

23:53

teachings, I Avail, I

23:55

would be your trophy now. This

23:59

foul 2 of your will, I

24:01

would not see you slumber still. No

24:03

quarter to what men allow. Take

24:06

me as your trophy now, but

24:09

the journey continues. You

24:11

never come upon them. At

24:15

a certain point, you come upon

24:17

a trio of individuals. Bloted,

24:22

and wreaking of rot. Hundreds

24:25

of black and purple mushrooms, the color

24:27

of ugly bruise is sprout everywhere

24:30

from their skin. They

24:32

squat around a long dead campfire in

24:35

some sort of bizarre pentamime

24:37

of their former life. They

24:42

don't seem to be aware of you at first,

24:45

but when they do become aware of you,

24:48

they move slowly they shamble.

24:51

There's no danger from them. You can

24:53

put distance between you and them easily

24:55

enough, but their appearance.

24:59

Is

25:01

objectively horrifying, I suppose, but there's

25:03

more to it than that. They

25:05

turn to you and they stretch their puffed

25:08

up bloated hands out and

25:11

they're thick tongues which

25:14

fill their mouths. They look

25:16

at you and they call

25:18

out. One

25:26

of them has a piece

25:28

of paper, a map, perhaps, and

25:31

they jab it with their

25:33

thick

25:34

finger. Trying to explain

25:36

something to you.

25:45

They do get up and they begin to

25:47

shuffle forward. I'd

25:49

like for everyone to make a ruinful first. Hey,

25:53

Larda. Whom is parta is going

25:55

up.

25:56

Yep. Parta, how do you feel upon seeing

25:58

these? Australia.

26:02

Nauseous. Just

26:05

convulsion. It is out

26:07

of the the the desecration of the human

26:09

form they,

26:13

like at first, I was, god, they

26:15

should someone should grant them as merciful

26:17

death. Not me though. I don't wanna get my hands dirty,

26:19

but, like, that is.

26:23

Yeah.

26:24

Let me sharpen up my question

26:26

a bit and ask you this. Looking

26:29

at them. Mhmm. They

26:31

appear green to you, but

26:34

the the green fades

26:37

away on the part of their body or

26:39

the part of their being or something

26:41

to have with them that

26:44

reveals that these three individuals

26:47

are the three of

26:48

you? What is it?

26:51

Oh, they

26:51

were how do you know? They

26:53

are us? That's well,

26:55

maybe maybe

26:56

not. Okay. But they remind me

26:58

of us. Yeah. Each

27:01

of them is each of each of the three

27:04

ROADED has something

27:07

that is imblamatic. Oh, one

27:09

of them is tattooed like

27:12

achile. One

27:14

of them has a belt

27:18

of dead rats, you know, like rat skulls.

27:22

And one of them

27:25

has a tunic

27:28

with the the colors of my house. Very

27:31

good. Yeah. And those are the only things that

27:33

appear in their normal color. Yeah.

27:36

Now here's where I would like to

27:39

tell you all that in Trophy Dark,

27:41

you cannot do combat for purposes of defeating

27:43

a monster. You can only do it

27:45

to escape if

27:47

you try to kill a monster in trophy

27:49

dark, you always die. And

27:52

so

27:54

these things are They

27:56

are lumbering closer and

27:59

they keep pointing at that

28:01

paper. They want you

28:03

to see something Acalate.

28:05

What do you do? I'm going to use

28:09

trickery as as a skill. And

28:12

I'm going to run from them while in

28:14

the process. I'll

28:16

see. gonna get

28:18

a diet real quick. Just myself 2 ran over

28:20

the side, which one you guys getting screwed over.

28:23

So Kjell gooey one through three and Ross

28:25

through four through six. Thanks. I appreciate

28:27

that. Alright, Ross. I as I run

28:30

away, I I just 2 I as

28:32

seeing my leg out and push him across, so it

28:34

kinda falls over my leg. So I

28:36

knock Ross down as I run away. And

28:39

opposite direction from those awful awful

28:41

creatures. Carter, you've been

28:43

knocked down and pushed toward

28:46

now, actually, this is really good opportunity for

28:48

a contest

28:49

role. Mhmm. Because I

28:51

assume you would for the want that

28:53

to not happen part of it. Yeah. I would I would I'd

28:55

grab on Probably, Zachary. Zachary

28:58

is closest to me and try and hold

29:00

on. Yes. Let's talk about the contest

29:02

role. Okay. If you wanna follow along, you can

29:04

hover over the the text of it on the

29:06

left there of the sheet. It says when treasure

29:09

hunters act against each other, compete

29:12

or want to inflict harm on each other,

29:14

you first agree what's at stake.

29:17

And it sounds like basically what's at stake

29:19

is whether parta gets

29:22

basically like kind of thrown to these

29:24

creatures so the others can escape or at least

29:26

so achale

29:29

can escape. And then

29:32

we're gonna build some dice we're gonna get dice

29:34

pools going. Now you both

29:36

get a light die if you

29:38

have a skill that would help

29:40

you in this. So for

29:42

Aqulei trickery, think probably almost

29:44

certainly gives you a light die. Parta,

29:48

commands, the symbols, rituals, and alchemy

29:50

don't feel helpful here, but I will

29:52

let you if you wanna make a

29:54

case, you certainly can. Command

29:56

would be I could yell out to them is

29:58

know your better's dogs, you know, hoping that

30:00

they

30:01

remember, you know, their station in life

30:03

as

30:04

Oh, to the to the bloated Yeah. Yeah.

30:06

Like, try Yeah. Like that. Yeah. Keep them at

30:08

bay. Yeah. I have a royal

30:10

blood. Get away from

30:11

me. Yeah. Like, I'll take it. Yeah.

30:13

Alright. So you've got two light dies. Okay.

30:15

And then you take a light die for each mark of ruin

30:17

that you currently have. And here, you have an advantage

30:19

part of it because you have five ruin. Mhmm. So

30:22

you have six light dies day

30:24

and you have five light dies circulating. And

30:27

then you take a dark die if contest

30:29

is inherently dangerous, I think it is. Yep.

30:32

And so now it's six one and five one.

30:35

And then you take as many additional

30:37

dark dice as you wish But

30:40

here's the thing. You're gonna roll your dice

30:42

once you've major wager essentially. And

30:45

whoever has the most sixes is the winner

30:47

of the contest. What they want to happen happens.

30:50

But if any of your dark

30:53

eyes come up with a one, then your

30:55

ruin goes up by one. And you

30:57

can go up more than one. So

30:59

you don't have a lot of runway and neither you do

31:01

really, but you really don't part of -- Mhmm. -- so

31:03

just be mindful of that. And

31:06

so your current minimum is six

31:09

in one and five in one. And

31:12

you can put as many extra dark grass as you wish.

31:14

If you go to the contest roll die

31:16

roller, you can just punch in the number. Mhmm.

31:18

And when you both have your number, let me know and we'll

31:20

roll.

31:23

You don't have to say aloud, but that's generally

31:25

a secret. Okay. Wager.

31:28

Kirschier inevitable betrayal conflict.

31:30

Yeah. So we each we each

31:32

get one dark guy by

31:33

default, just by

31:34

default. Yeah. Yeah. And then you can

31:36

add more. Yeah. I shall.

31:39

But every if any dark guy comes up a

31:41

one, your room goes up by one.

31:42

So what's the chances of

31:44

rolling that many ones in the road

31:47

come on? 2. That's

31:50

just two. That's all. What's the chance of two

31:52

one? We're fine. Pretty

31:54

high, Ag.

31:55

Never never tell me the odds. Never

31:57

tell me the odds. Yeah. Alright. I'm

31:59

ready. You too.

32:01

Alright. Let's roll them up. Okay.

32:04

Alright. So Achile

32:08

got added two extra dark

32:10

eyes and got one six. Parta

32:13

added just one extra dark eye, but got

32:15

two sixes. Parta, you are the winner and nobody's

32:17

room goes up. Parta, you get to describe

32:20

how you stop

32:22

Aqualie's plan here and cause the

32:24

creatures to not Like, you are

32:26

not, like, in danger of

32:27

them. Like, you you're kind of in control. What does it look like?

32:30

So Acalate

32:33

trips me and my arm just instinctively

32:35

goes out and grabs him by the

32:37

shoulder, so I pull him down

32:40

with me. And

32:43

then as they're approaching, I yell out

32:45

to the bloated creatures. I

32:49

am a royal blood. Know your station, bow

32:51

to, you know, bow to

32:53

us, bow to me, and

32:56

they do so remembering, you know,

32:58

just just instinctive

33:01

commoners, you

33:03

know, after, you know, a lifetime of

33:06

being beaten if you don't bow. And

33:09

and they bow in a

33:11

gruesome rotting

33:12

way, part of their bodies falling off

33:15

as they do so. And I kinda

33:17

just said

33:17

that they burst as they kinda fall.

33:20

Right? Yeah. And I kinda shelve up

33:22

pushing off of accolade to

33:24

to shove him further into the ground and me

33:26

to get back up. And,

33:29

yeah, I I then got,

33:31

you know, shuffle away. Yeah.

33:34

Very, very panicked. But

33:37

More than I'm curious. Yeah. What your

33:41

reaction is

33:42

all this. It's all happening in moments. Right? But I'm

33:44

curious how you react. Orland's

33:47

not really into violence. That's a raccoon's

33:49

job. But,

33:53

yeah, this is Does my can

33:55

my tongue talk to these guys? Can I make

33:57

out what you look

33:58

like? Yeah. I think Orland would mostly

34:00

be I

34:00

love that. Yeah. Good. If you wanna

34:02

try to do that. I mean, it's a little bit difficult now

34:04

because they are I

34:05

didn't realize had a tongue that long. So, like,

34:07

I'm not even sure what I roll for that.

34:10

They're currently flailing around 2 ground as problem.

34:12

Right? They they have they

34:14

sort of, like, were obeying part

34:16

as command, you know, like, and

34:19

they started to genuflect, you know. And

34:22

then they fell and their

34:25

their bulk because they're

34:27

kind of splitting open and they don't have great

34:29

like motor, you know, motor control

34:31

of their bodies because of all the growths and stuff.

34:34

And the distended nature of their bodies,

34:36

they're just kind of flailing about. They're no danger

34:38

right now.

34:41

So I guess Orland, I wanna know, what do you wanna know

34:43

from them? I

34:45

mainly wanna know what they're saying. Like, what

34:47

are they so urgent to communicate to

34:49

us?

34:50

Yeah. Yeah. I like it. If

34:52

you discover what they say, are you going to tell

34:54

the others or keep that to

34:56

yourself? I guess that depends on what I'm

34:58

hearing. Yeah. I can tell you what they say.

35:00

Okay. You

35:03

will be able to interpret their speech because

35:05

your tongue is whispering what they're

35:08

saying to you inside your mouth. They

35:10

are saying that the saints

35:13

are false. The sisters

35:15

of the Glebbemeyer are not the sisters.

35:18

something else. They are

35:21

demons. They are monstrosities. What

35:23

do you do with that information?

35:26

I

35:26

am gonna keep that to myself currently. It doesn't

35:28

seem terribly relevant to the bresling

35:30

match ongoing. So

35:33

I'm gonna slip that one in my back satchel

35:36

pouch. I guess it's kind of very good. Very

35:39

good. Yeah.

35:40

Let's take moment to 2 our breaths here.

35:43

Part of you are at room five and you're entitled

35:45

to do the reduction role. Mhmm. You

35:47

can betray the RPPR. You certainly probably have

35:49

no fun feelings for Ocular at this point. Concerning

35:51

their

35:52

behavior. You can betray the group in

35:54

the future in order to get your your

35:56

room down. So just bear that in mind.

35:59

Yeah. Actually, now that you think about it, I'd

36:03

like to do it now as

36:06

accolade was also pulled to the ground.

36:09

I imagine some

36:11

of his possessions spilled on the

36:13

ground, and I want to try

36:16

and grab some of

36:17

them. Before he notices.

36:20

Yeah.

36:22

Yeah. Absolutely. Oh, just quick point of order. I

36:24

think Aqualades Day then. Just Oh, sorry.

36:27

Is it?

36:29

Yeah. As you Oh,

36:31

I'm sorry. Ocalate, are you okay with

36:34

are they rummaging around or it really bad? Is that a

36:36

character? It's Acalie lives in

36:38

aesthetic life. There's not much sense.

36:40

There's a lot of mine. There's always

36:43

2 take that part of it. To take that.

36:48

But I I would say that he did lose his

36:50

prism necklace. It did fall from the

36:52

the chain snapped and scattered across

36:55

the

36:55

ground. You take that?

36:57

Yeah. Definitely. You

36:59

can go ahead and make the Rune role to see if Rune

37:03

Redact actively. Or reduction. Sorry.

37:05

Yeah. In follicular notices. You have four,

37:07

so you're good. Yeah. It goes unnoticed.

37:10

What do you do with that? I

37:12

just look at it, weigh

37:16

it for a moment. And

37:18

I don't 2 be caught with it, so I'm just gonna

37:21

throw it away. Interesting. It's not useful

37:23

to me. Well, yeah, I I wouldn't imagine

37:25

a prison would be useful to me. So I'm

37:28

going to I don't wanna be III

37:30

don't want accolade to find

37:31

out. I have it, so

37:33

I throw it away. You can

37:36

walk around these pathetic creatures unless there's

37:38

something else you wanna do with them. But otherwise, you can

37:40

just keep going.

37:42

Yeah. I I would like to keep going. They seem weird,

37:44

man. I don't

37:46

think I'm gonna get a lot of published information

37:48

of these

37:49

guys. Probably not. Did anybody figure

37:51

out what what they what that piece of paper they were

37:53

carrying was? Does that you can grab

37:55

it if you

37:55

want. If it's safe,

37:57

like

37:58

Yeah. You can. Alright.

37:59

I will I will pick it up with a stick

38:01

so I can kinda look at it first. Is it

38:04

2 safe. Yeah. Exactly.

38:07

Yeah. don't wanna touch it with my hand. I like,

38:09

I'll get a piece of cloth out to, like, touch

38:11

it or whatever. I don't wanna touch

38:13

it, like, make skin contact with it,

38:15

and just kinda look at to see if it's, like, a map

38:17

or something that I can

38:18

yeah. It's a it's a it's a drawing of

38:21

holy symbol. Okay. Of one of

38:23

of one of the sisters. hadn't

38:25

thought about what sister it is. But

38:27

we'll say it's We'll

38:30

say it's Saint Aria. She's probably,

38:32

like, the biggest most important of the sisters

38:34

in the setting. She is the torchbearer.

38:37

She is the one that goes down into

38:39

the depths with you to lie your way. Right?

38:42

And that kind

38:44

of indicates that these people were treasure hunters

38:46

themselves. Right? Mhmm. But

38:49

what they were trying to point out well,

38:52

I wanna check your skills to see if anybody can

38:55

deduce that demons

38:57

negotiation trickery elements, rituals

39:00

and symbols. I think between demons

39:02

and rituals and and or demons and symbols

39:04

between Achlea and Para, you can certainly figure

39:06

out what what they

39:08

were trying to point out. The symbol

39:11

of of

39:14

St. R. The torchbearer is

39:19

it is a pair of torches with

39:21

a sword kind of like dissecting

39:23

them. Right? Mhmm. But

39:27

It's been made profane. Something

39:29

has made the simple profane or it's been drawn in

39:31

profane way. This is what they were trying to

39:33

convey to you that this

39:35

is the the the the the religiosity

39:38

of this place is false. Taking

39:41

a glance at it, part

39:44

of what is the

39:45

profanity? No.

39:48

That's what they were trying to convey to you, that it is

39:51

profane. There

39:53

are symbols in the torches

39:56

that look a bit like

39:59

stars at night or like the

40:01

the gleam of a jewel, and

40:03

I know that is a symbol of a

40:05

soul. Like, the the symbols

40:08

of you know, stars

40:10

leaving a battlefield, that that would be, you

40:12

know, the souls going to the afterlife

40:15

is common religious painting

40:17

topic. And that they're in

40:19

the flame of the torch means that

40:24

she is burning the souls as fuel

40:26

there. They're not what she is protecting

40:28

is it is what she is using as fuel.

40:32

And that is

40:34

intensely

40:37

blasphemous and, yeah,

40:39

profane. Now, of course, you

40:41

don't know what Orland knows. But you

40:43

do know what you've just looked at. Yeah. And

40:47

I think at this point, we just should just have the scene

40:49

with the three of you here at the end of this because

40:52

inally attacked. Parta. Parta

40:55

has found this piece of paper. There's

40:57

a lot going on here. And once you've

40:59

once you've given some space to the

41:01

three bloated creatures, the three bloated treasure

41:03

hunters. Let's just let's just have that

41:05

scene. Roll play. Yes. Well,

41:11

III this

41:14

symbol is quite disturbing. I

41:16

I think these

41:19

three damn souls were

41:24

trying to hint that the the sisters are not what

41:26

they seem. I we

41:29

should be

41:32

careful. Wouldn't you agree, Akyla?

41:34

Oh, it's almost as if the shit I was saying

41:37

earlier because somehow come to light now.

41:39

Yes. And what a good shepherd you are

41:42

protecting your fellow travelers

41:44

from arm.

41:46

I thought we were all aware of this the the

41:48

score here, and we're not friends. We're

41:50

merely out of

41:51

convenience. Yes. You wouldn't understand the burdens

41:53

of leadership, so

41:56

I'm not surprised.

41:59

Orland we would be No.

42:00

Well, it appears your family didn't understand the principles

42:03

of leadership either or you would still have a family.

42:08

Well, such is the burden of the noble

42:10

nobility that the commoner

42:12

cannot even phantom. Or

42:15

the perhaps

42:19

we should be wary of further

42:22

manifestations of the same maybe the sisters

42:24

are not something pray to. I

42:28

I've

42:28

suspected as much, but I I

42:30

don't know who to trust.

42:32

Yes. Well, I would say Dara1's not

42:35

on that list if that

42:37

deity's best acolyte is

42:41

here. Oh,

42:43

no. I I don't trust him for

42:45

one moment. Yeah. But neither

42:47

do I trust him. This is the one with a serpent

42:50

tongue with knobs on

42:51

it. I

42:53

I see cures for melodies. I cannot

42:55

prevent them all. We cure that

42:57

melody right

42:58

now. I'm

43:00

not sure if the others are even aware

43:01

of that.

43:02

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No. That's the word of Orleans.

43:04

We haven't seen the nub tongue.

43:06

No. No. We haven't seen that

43:08

yet. No. That's gotta to be revealed

43:10

to them. Okay.

43:11

And I certainly haven't mentioned anything about my

43:13

fucked up vision. So Understand

43:15

that there are lures and there are drives.

43:18

Both can take the pests towards a trap.

43:22

I've I've no reason to trust the mushroom

43:25

bonsotted men anymore than

43:27

the moss

43:30

mad, bear eating bandits

43:32

that we encountered before, nor

43:35

him nor you. IIII do

43:37

not know which saint

43:39

is truthful and which is

43:41

demonic. I can only rely upon

43:43

my own powers. Lovely

43:46

2 trust the bear. The

43:50

pair, you know you stand where you know where you stand

43:52

with the pair.

43:53

Yeah. That's for sure. There's know. You obviously

43:55

know. Yeah. You you obviously thought

43:57

you could trust the mirror because you brought it into

43:59

a camp to attack people. Like,

44:01

no. Hard. I I think

44:03

I I 2 the

44:06

corruption is coming from inside the house. I

44:08

I have not been assaulted by anything but pests.

44:11

That are observing their own nature

44:13

since I've been here. I've been accosted

44:15

by some gentleman in need of hygiene who wanted

44:17

to communicate something to me on a map. I've

44:19

met some strange people with very

44:22

pit fighting specific customs,

44:25

but I have yet to be assaulted by

44:27

anything but mosquitoes and 2.

44:31

Yeah. We should calm

44:33

each other. If we are going to be fellows, we

44:35

should cooperate. But

44:37

this madness has to end especially

44:40

between YouTube. I was assaulted by your

44:42

current girlfriend. It

44:47

was a person I had to fight

44:49

with a knife in a pit. Which

44:52

does and to be clear, that doesn't

44:54

give you an excuse to light that person

44:56

on fire. III you're

44:59

your god's entire form of reasoning

45:02

baffles me. There seems to be no

45:04

observation or experiment in it. Oh, that

45:06

was that was that was that was all me. That was God.

45:09

Was just my choice and I didn't even consult with

45:11

my God for that one. I was just then

45:13

perhaps we should do that. Perhaps

45:16

we should rely on ourselves not

45:19

look to god's and saints, which may

45:21

be what they are or may not be, and

45:24

attempts to get through this. That

45:28

can be my only contribution. If

45:30

if you wish me to grab a knife and

45:33

join Confederate with one of you against the

45:35

other, it's not going to happen. I

45:37

would -- Yeah. -- friends

45:41

let the peace of

45:43

the sisters descend upon

45:45

your troubled Continences.

45:49

The bear the

45:52

bear is talking to you. It

45:54

has wandered into the clearing where you're having

45:57

this argument. Look, we're having a conversation

45:59

right now later. It

46:01

is covered in patches of

46:04

green moss, it has wounds.

46:06

When it speaks, it doesn't move its jaw.

46:09

It just opens its mouth and the voice comes

46:11

out of its gauntlet. It

46:14

says, I am

46:17

the harbinger of St. Fiona of

46:19

the woods. Saint Vion

46:21

will be here momentarily to

46:25

collect her offerings for

46:27

the creatures of the forests. What

46:30

offerings and it spreads its big

46:33

clawed hands out. What offerings

46:36

will you give to her when she

46:38

arrives? Like

46:40

everyone to roll ruin. Okay? Yeah.

46:42

Yeah. I had that highlighted. Damn

46:46

it. Oh, wait. No damage.

46:50

Actually, got a five going up to five. Part

46:52

of this got three. You're good. And

46:55

or the g roll three as well? Yes.

46:58

Alright. So acholea, you're getting

47:00

your first condition because you're going up for the

47:02

first time. Yay.

47:04

I think your condition is going to be

47:08

You started to notice it a couple

47:10

of days ago as you approached the Gloemden Meyer.

47:13

But hard travel

47:16

over hard land. It's not the

47:18

sort of thing you would take note of, but you

47:20

were feeling a lot of pain in your boots.

47:23

But you can tell now that you have

47:25

lost all movement in your toes.

47:29

Indeed, you can see your

47:32

feet starting to burst

47:34

out of your boots.

47:37

They are not feet. Well,

47:40

they are, but they're They're

47:42

more like twisted flesh.

47:45

Blush twists into the shape of hooves,

47:48

bursting from your

47:49

boots. How

47:52

do you feel when you see this? Not

47:57

good. Get a level with you. Anger.

48:03

Anger that I decided to overcome this cursed

48:05

forest. And

48:08

further hatred for whatever

48:10

saint's avatar

48:12

is in front of me right now.

48:14

What's the you noble blooded the

48:17

bear says is it strokes your

48:19

cheek parter. The

48:21

royal lineages have always

48:24

ever been faithful to the

48:25

sisters. What will you offer

48:27

her? I

48:32

I wonder if they truly need any

48:34

tiding. I I hold up the

48:36

picture. Surely,

48:39

they have a bounty of souls to use as

48:41

fuel for their hearth.

48:43

Saint Feune must collect the

48:46

offerings, must collect food

48:49

for the

48:49

forest. That is her responsibility

48:52

to make sure that the creatures

48:55

Oh, of course.

48:56

Laura, the fauna are able

48:58

to eat. Okay.

49:00

So let's see here. My character

49:04

knows Alchemy.

49:05

Would it be possible to offer

49:08

up a ration but to secretly poison

49:10

it?

49:11

She, the bear, looks

49:14

at you.

49:15

I mean, I've seen that out of character. I'm not like

49:17

Oh, I know. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I know. Yes.

49:21

You can do that. Okay. I think

49:24

that the bear will

49:27

kind of lean in and

49:30

make it more clear what it means.

49:35

Saint Vion requires flesh

49:39

blood, freshly spilled, surely

49:43

Your two companions are unworthy

49:46

of this place and

49:48

can find worth.

49:53

On the sacrificial

49:54

altar. At this

49:56

point, I I

50:00

No. I I do not.

50:03

I I will not slay my

50:06

travelers questionable

50:08

as their honor is, I will not slay them

50:11

for behalf of a deity

50:14

who does

50:16

not practice his hypocrisy.

50:20

The bear wand wanders

50:22

often to the tree line.

50:24

And it says, your

50:27

heresy is noted. So

50:29

was yours?

50:31

Avtar approaches. And

50:35

the bear recedes into

50:37

the woods. And

50:39

you start to hear some rustling

50:42

from the tops of the trees, from

50:45

branches high above behind

50:47

you. You start to hear

50:50

the heavy Footfalls,

50:53

footfalls of a very,

50:55

very massive creature as

50:58

it approaches. What

51:00

do you all do?

51:03

Seems like a good time to run. Really,

51:05

it doesn't say that. Goryland just starts running.

51:07

Yeah.

51:08

That seems like a good idea. I didn't didn't

51:11

I didn't claim to offer anything. I have no

51:13

promises. Alright. I

51:15

attempt to trip part again

51:17

as I

51:18

know, dude. No.

51:20

I I simply just run this time.

51:22

Yeah.

51:23

I think, yeah, we're all running. You

51:25

are quickly the set or not

51:27

the set, but behind you, chasing you.

51:30

If you look back a

51:33

colossal stag, the

51:36

color of Jade. It's Jade

51:38

to everyone that's just part of. It

51:41

is fifteen feet high at the shoulder,

51:44

meaning it stands in total probably

51:46

twenty, twenty five feet. At

51:48

the tips of its incredibly large

51:50

antlers. Said

51:52

antlers are razor sharp, overgrown

51:54

with thick moss and light chin. The

51:58

creature lets out cleaning

52:01

whale and nostrils spew

52:03

clouds of foul smelling spores

52:05

as it does. So it

52:07

is giving chase and

52:09

it's much quicker than you because of its

52:12

impressive stride. And It

52:16

swings the antlers left and right,

52:19

clearing, cerating, cutting, trees,

52:22

and brush out of its way to get to

52:24

you. The ground shakes as

52:27

it charges. Achile,

52:30

your own hooved feet,

52:33

are perhaps a bit awkward under you.

52:36

You are also at room five and entitled

52:38

to do reduction rules to

52:40

betray the group. Parta,

52:43

just because you're no longer at room five, doesn't

52:45

mean you're not entitled to do reduction rules. You

52:47

get to keep doing them. Mhmm. Orland,

52:50

I don't know if you ever made it to room five. Or

52:52

not. I'm I'm still at four. Yeah. Yeah.

52:54

So, Portland, you cannot do reduction rules.

52:57

But, nevertheless,

52:59

those of you who can, are you gonna take this advantage

53:01

right now 2 try to give yourself

53:03

one up? Yeah.

53:06

I'm not gonna slay my fellow travelers,

53:09

but definitely

53:14

let's see. Probably

53:16

going to veer

53:20

away hoping, you know,

53:23

that they go after someone try

53:26

and hide so that the deer so

53:28

the stag goes after someone else. Like,

53:31

if if I'm not in view, maybe it'll

53:33

chase someone

53:33

else. That was

53:35

actually my also the same thing

53:37

I was gonna do. I'm leaving Orland

53:39

in the

53:39

MIP. So Orland exposed 2 And then

53:41

it all was as Ross goes as as

53:43

a party goes one direction. Accolade

53:46

will go the other direction. Yeah. Yeah.

53:49

Turn by it this way, and there's no one by.

53:52

Just keep happening. Yeah. Let's

53:54

have a reduction rule just to see if Orland picks

53:56

up on the two of you basically sort

53:58

of in indirectly throwing him

54:00

under the bus under the hoof

54:02

as well. I rolled equal to

54:04

my room. Okay. So

54:07

Acholay's treachery is a parent, Orland.

54:11

Orland, how do you know? Part of this is not

54:13

because Parta got a 2, but -- Okay. -- how do

54:15

you know Acholay? Clearly

54:18

means to leave you to the creature of

54:20

Orland. Caleb, I can answer this for you. I

54:22

say Hershey, Orland. Yeah.

54:24

Pass his street? His eyes.

54:28

Forensic evidence. Yeah. I did.

54:30

Take your pick.

54:32

He did. He's not

54:33

presented himself as very trustworthy.

54:35

Yeah. The two of them are safe. Mhmm. You

54:38

are the creature is

54:41

there. It I

54:43

think by the time you look back at it, it

54:45

has one of the bloated treasure

54:47

hunters stabbed

54:49

on its rack of antlers,

54:52

and it's just solutioning back

54:54

and forth. It's mucky

54:56

fungal juices just spraying

54:59

everywhere. It itself

55:01

breathes out spores. It breathes out purple

55:03

spores. It's probably how the treasure hunters got

55:05

their infection to begin with. And

55:08

this thing is just bearing down a top view.

55:10

This might be ritual time in order to

55:12

escape. It might be, you know, that might be

55:14

called for here. But

55:17

how are you gonna try to survive

55:18

this?

55:19

I can't do a reduction rule. So I

55:21

will try a ritual. I will try and

55:23

entangle it, so I can run away. Very

55:25

good. Very good. That's

55:28

a dirty ritual. Yeah.

55:31

It's a risk You get your first leg diaper

55:34

plant. It's no problem. But

55:36

before that, the

55:39

BaaS and Ross and I get to say what we think could go

55:41

wrong here if you fail. I think you

55:43

might end up on the other side of the rack of antlers

55:46

from where the bloated guy is. But if Ross had

55:48

said something more interesting, I'm open to hearing

55:50

it. The

55:53

the the the entangling roots you've

55:55

summoned, farther

55:58

reaching than you would have intended. Manage

56:00

to find yourself in the entanglement roots

56:03

as well?

56:04

Another thing is that it actually it does

56:06

work, but the you

56:09

tangled the tag in the it

56:12

trips over, but the momentum pulls

56:16

the corpse off the antlers,

56:18

and it flings forward. And

56:20

you have to stop a moment to to throw it. So

56:23

you get hit you basically hit like,

56:25

the court's just explodes like a water balloon,

56:28

like a bloated RPPR water balloon

56:30

of mushroom juice and

56:33

yeah. So that that would be

56:36

all fabulous ideas. Let's

56:38

continue with the dice. So you've got your plants your

56:40

your skill die for the plants. And

56:43

now devil's wagons. A reminder, this

56:45

is something that if you accept the bargain

56:47

from one of

56:47

us, you get the die, but you also but whatever

56:50

the bargain is is is absolutely true.

56:52

Everyone gets to make an offer. I'm gonna make

56:54

mine though -- Mhmm. -- because I've been thinking about it for a

56:56

while.

56:58

No matter what,

56:59

you're gonna run into grandmother, Carina,

57:01

at the end of all this. Okay.

57:05

Or something in the guise of grandmother, Carina.

57:10

Or it it could be either or but

57:12

either either

57:13

possibility. Mhmm. Does

57:15

everyone have to make an offer? Or is it --

57:17

No. -- to take okay. I'll do it with that, but

57:19

but Yeah. Yeah. The rivals are entitled

57:21

2. I like Jason's quite a lot, actually.

57:23

So The only

57:26

other thing I could say is that the

57:29

the other possibility would be, like, the entangling

57:31

ritual causes roots to

57:33

wrap around your ankles, and

57:36

you realize they're coming out from your ankles.

57:39

Like, from your foot, you know and so, like,

57:41

regards what happens like there are there's

57:44

roots growing out of your legs now.

57:49

I'll I'll take Rubina. Yeah. already got

57:51

weird. I already got a weird tongue. I don't need to

57:53

put

57:55

root ankles on top of that. So is that a

57:57

darts to your eyes? Yeah. And you have 2 do

57:59

dark because the rich tool service risk 2 light

58:01

one dark. Okay.

58:03

Six dark. Okay. You

58:06

have to stop because dark is high. Yeah.

58:08

Also, it's higher than your current ruins, so your ruins

58:10

goes up. Yeah. It is a full success. It

58:12

is a full success. So Describe

58:16

this

58:16

is your moment. Describe how you use the ritual

58:19

to escape the this this

58:21

either is Saint Vion or it's a manifestation of

58:23

Saint if you

58:24

own. The alleged

58:26

state if you own. I I have I have,

58:28

you know, Tupelo's clothes around

58:30

behind me and and and bar the

58:33

giant things pass by tangling

58:35

it. Yeah.

58:38

And then I I

58:39

scudder through the roots systems and

58:41

and get out the other side and and just

58:43

book it as it as it, you know, I imagine

58:45

makes a horrible STAG monster sound

58:48

as it is. Held within

58:50

the, you know, winding root systems

58:52

of the swamp. Indeed.

58:55

Everyone is separated now. Catch your breath.

58:58

It's almost as if the glumming meyers also

59:01

letting out an exhalation

59:04

at the end of this encounter. You

59:06

each or approaching it from different

59:08

directions, but you will

59:12

see through the trees, glints

59:14

of silver and

59:15

jade. And part

59:17

of you see the silver as well.

59:21

You can hear him

59:24

being the sun. Hangs

59:26

in the voice of the fan, perhaps

59:30

it sounds like the buzzing of insects.

59:33

A croaking frog song,

59:36

perhaps it's something else, but

59:38

it has order

59:42

it is not just chaos,

59:44

it's not just random, environmental

59:47

noises, the cathedral,

59:51

is ahead. It is not

59:53

actually a stone cathedral.

59:57

It is a natural grove of

59:59

massive tightly packed trees,

1:00:02

utterly overgrown with thick layers

1:00:05

of moss. So

1:00:07

many feet thick in fact. So it just looks

1:00:09

like a large shambling

1:00:13

moss covered structure. But

1:00:15

curiously, it does

1:00:17

have it has a cathedral

1:00:19

bell tower. There is a bell. In

1:00:24

the middle of these trees that have formed a

1:00:26

vaguely tower shaped shape

1:00:29

above the above the

1:00:31

cathedral. There's also a

1:00:33

large pool of water that

1:00:37

the cathedral rests in. It's

1:00:39

almost like a not quite a lake,

1:00:41

but it's a very very large pool of

1:00:43

water. Scummy

1:00:45

and green that the cathedral's

1:00:48

rising out of.

1:00:50

Water is not very thick or very

1:00:52

deep. You can wade through it.

1:00:55

And indeed, you will

1:00:57

all get a chance. You arrive at different times,

1:00:59

but you'll all get chance to get

1:01:02

close to the cathedral Indeed,

1:01:05

there are tiny gaps in the structure that

1:01:08

allow you to just barely glimpse

1:01:10

what's inside. A smooth

1:01:12

altar of meteoric iron, delicately

1:01:15

raw silver candelabras, statues

1:01:18

making up the stations of the saints. And

1:01:22

a very large leather

1:01:25

tome, a top olectron

1:01:28

that has silver pages. Remind

1:01:31

you that the

1:01:34

friend you found in the earlier part

1:01:36

of the forest spoke

1:01:39

of this spoke. This silver

1:01:41

book. There are even stone

1:01:43

pews all around draped

1:01:45

in thick moss, decadent

1:01:47

and some garment. Grandmother

1:01:49

Gerina

1:01:51

appears to you, Orland, and

1:01:53

just to you. You're not even aware of the

1:01:55

other two at this point. How does she look?

1:01:58

Because that'll depend on whether she's a lie or

1:02:00

not. Well, no, it wouldn't. She would lie and look

1:02:02

like the regular way. So a a saintly old grandmother

1:02:05

with a wicker basket

1:02:07

full of, you know, various

1:02:10

plucked, you know, herbs and

1:02:12

spices and flowers and, you

1:02:14

know, She's the grandmother

1:02:17

archetype. My son,

1:02:20

I am so happy you

1:02:22

have managed to make it here. I

1:02:24

knew you would be able to find it.

1:02:27

Look at this place. Overflowing

1:02:30

with life. It

1:02:33

is sacred ground. It

1:02:37

is where the spiritual meets the natural

1:02:39

and it

1:02:39

is. Exquisite,

1:02:42

wouldn't you say?

1:02:45

Yes, it is the revelation

1:02:47

which I have sought. You

1:02:50

must get inside the

1:02:52

cathedral before the others.

1:02:56

You must because if you

1:02:58

don't, the sister

1:03:00

who is there, she

1:03:03

will turn them against

1:03:05

you. I shall do my

1:03:07

best grandmother. I

1:03:09

know a secret way, a

1:03:11

secret way into the cathedral. It

1:03:15

might just allow you to reach

1:03:17

the interior, the

1:03:19

heart first. Do

1:03:22

you want me to whisper to you? Goddamn

1:03:25

it.

1:03:27

Perception, would that give me any

1:03:29

clue as to whether this is a trick

1:03:31

or not? Yeah.

1:03:33

You know what you know.

1:03:39

Certainly grandmother, but I I must be

1:03:41

sure to arrive intact. Otherwise, I

1:03:43

cannot present my offerings.

1:03:46

Be a not. She

1:03:48

puts her gnarled hand on

1:03:51

yours, and she

1:03:54

uses her fingers to gently

1:03:57

apart your lips and

1:04:00

your tongue slug

1:04:03

like arriens out

1:04:07

and her tongue slithers

1:04:10

out as well and

1:04:12

they interlock, and she

1:04:14

whispers the truth to

1:04:16

you. The cathedral cannot

1:04:18

be penetrated from the outside. Most

1:04:22

people who attempt it try to go into the bell

1:04:24

tower. That's the long way.

1:04:26

That's the hard way. The

1:04:28

secret way. Is

1:04:30

you can dive under the water. There's

1:04:33

a deep part that

1:04:35

leads up into a well that goes directly

1:04:37

into the center of the cathedral. She

1:04:39

withdraws from you

1:04:41

and gently structure cheek. Make

1:04:44

a ruinful. Yeah.

1:04:47

That's fair. A

1:04:51

while. Hey. This

1:04:54

is some, I think not

1:04:56

only are you not affected by this in a negative

1:04:57

way, I think maybe you are reassured in some way,

1:04:59

how do you feeling right now? I

1:05:02

mean, hey, getting to make out to

1:05:04

make out, you know, old

1:05:06

old demon ladies need love to and,

1:05:08

you know, tongue whispering, whatever you're 2.

1:05:11

You know, I'm I'm not I'm not wanting to

1:05:13

look gift saint demon in the mouth,

1:05:15

so to speak. So Orland's

1:05:18

a simple man with simple tastes -- Yeah.

1:05:21

--

1:05:21

indeed indeed. Very

1:05:24

good. Parta and

1:05:26

Aquelea. Mhmm. You

1:05:28

arrive before Orland

1:05:31

because you abandon Orland

1:05:33

2 to to St. Fiona.

1:05:37

You've seen everything as I've described it.

1:05:40

The only obvious way is up to the bell

1:05:42

tower.

1:05:44

Now, you all can go together,

1:05:48

you can try to stop each

1:05:50

other, you can try to help each other. I'm

1:05:53

taking a shortcut. Yeah. You know,

1:05:56

that part of Inacule, as you

1:05:58

arrive, you see the bell tower -- Yep. -- you can see

1:06:00

that the only way in, there's no

1:06:02

door or anything, otherwise, into the structure.

1:06:05

What do you

1:06:06

do? Look part

1:06:08

of it. Everything that took place

1:06:10

up on this point is no consequence.

1:06:13

We've made it to our destination.

1:06:15

I think it's best that we work together to

1:06:18

find our way in there.

1:06:19

But it was the water

1:06:21

in the bridge thinks it's taken place before

1:06:24

and let us let us achieve our goals

1:06:26

since we now find ourselves at the

1:06:28

door.

1:06:28

I just wanna know your like,

1:06:31

I just wanna make sure our goals are not mutually

1:06:33

exclusive. Like, you you want

1:06:35

to bring about your god,

1:06:37

marijuana, is it? You mentioned that before,

1:06:39

I think. I just want to bring I just

1:06:41

want to establish reestablish the cult. Yeah.

1:06:44

How what is in there that'll

1:06:46

help you do that? I

1:06:49

was hoping to find that when I got in there.

1:06:52

Okay. So I my

1:06:54

goal is far more humble. I just

1:06:56

need some impos impressive

1:06:58

treasure, a trophy, if you will,

1:07:01

to to take back to the kingdom of Nagana,

1:07:03

to prove to them that I am worthy

1:07:06

of the air. So

1:07:10

as long as I get my pick of the treasure,

1:07:13

that I believe you can use

1:07:15

it if you need to. But I I'm the one who has

1:07:17

to take a clay clay nail ownership of the treasure

1:07:19

at the

1:07:19

end. You understand that. Right? This

1:07:21

is fine. I have no problem with it. As

1:07:23

long as we understand each other, I think we we

1:07:25

could we can come to account governance. The material

1:07:28

constraints of this world have no bear you know,

1:07:30

the cult of marijuana. We merely am

1:07:32

here for enlightenment and for

1:07:35

so yes. Any treasure blogs to you?

1:07:37

Excellent. Excellent. I

1:07:41

I think this is suitable then. Yes.

1:07:43

a climbing is an activity better done

1:07:47

with hemp. Solo climbing

1:07:49

is rather dangerous. But

1:07:52

together, we we could make it

1:07:54

an easy task. I sure hope

1:07:56

Orland. It's okay. You know?

1:08:00

Sure. He he was a rat catcher.

1:08:02

He knows how a rat's act. He just had to think

1:08:04

about that. And being a small creatures

1:08:07

scurried away from a larger

1:08:08

predator. Jerry knows all about that. Yeah. Yeah.

1:08:12

I'm I wouldn't worry. And

1:08:15

we will be helping Wirtland

1:08:19

because we'll be leaving the ropes behind,

1:08:21

I'm sure. And that'll that

1:08:24

that will help

1:08:26

him with his his clock. Which

1:08:28

brings me to the next point

1:08:30

part of I

1:08:32

don't know how to climb.

1:08:34

Oh, well, I

1:08:37

We did some of it. I'm not

1:08:39

an expert by the means, but it looks

1:08:41

like a fairly climbable thing. You had some rope

1:08:43

and spikes and a hammer.

1:08:46

Right? Absolutely not.

1:08:47

You don't even have rope?

1:08:50

No. I came came with what I have on

1:08:52

me.

1:08:53

What treasure hunter does an e mav RPPR? It's

1:08:55

the most basic of tools.

1:08:58

But my much like my skills

1:09:00

in the treasure I searched. It's all better physical.

1:09:02

I don't I don't actually Oh, long You

1:09:05

know, you have a belt. You have some

1:09:07

broke that that well, I guess, you called your belt,

1:09:09

but that that that that will

1:09:10

help. I

1:09:13

this this is a very small

1:09:16

piece of rope. Well, it'll it'll

1:09:18

be helped I'm sure. Now,

1:09:20

one of my pants.

1:09:22

Well, we all have to make sacrifices don't we

1:09:24

accolade.

1:09:25

I'm just gonna climb the built our

1:09:27

bare ass all the time. Yeah. So,

1:09:31

yeah, I I we

1:09:34

will get to

1:09:34

climbing. I I would

1:09:36

have some I did. And yeah. And

1:09:39

my my also, I don't know if you've noticed

1:09:42

my feet don't seem to be quite meant

1:09:44

for

1:09:44

climbing. Just wondering about that.

1:09:46

Yeah. Yeah. It's Alright. Got you.

1:09:48

Notice that these don't seem to have

1:09:50

much client potential in them. Although Maybe

1:09:52

that was a but maybe you

1:09:54

could, like, go to up it. Yeah. Oh, yeah.

1:09:56

Really go to up just like Yeah. You could barely go to up.

1:09:58

Yeah.

1:09:58

Yeah. And goats are great climbers.

1:10:00

Right? Yeah. I mean, know,

1:10:02

they have four legs, of course, but, like, you know,

1:10:04

it's not a good one. And then

1:10:05

we'll get some more room like, it hooked hands, and

1:10:07

then

1:10:07

I'll be right back. Exactly.

1:10:11

Orland, by the time you arrived at the cathedral,

1:10:15

and glimpse

1:10:17

into the into the

1:10:19

crevices and the structure to see what's inside.

1:10:23

By the time, as you're kind of pulling away from it, you

1:10:25

will see on the other side, you will see your

1:10:27

two companions climbing up the bell tower

1:10:30

as grandmother Carpina said Carpina

1:10:32

said they would be. And

1:10:35

you can find the deep part of the pool

1:10:37

that connects up with the well, the

1:10:39

alleged well that will take you up into

1:10:42

into

1:10:44

the cathedral faster. Indeed, it's much

1:10:46

faster.

1:10:48

This is an out of character consideration. Ross

1:10:52

and Bass. If you don't care that

1:10:55

Orland reaches the interior

1:10:56

first, then we'll just let that happen. Otherwise,

1:10:59

we could do a contest role to see

1:11:01

who gets there

1:11:02

first. You mean dead or land or

1:11:04

dead or land abandoned in

1:11:06

the woods?

1:11:07

No. I I believe in Orland.

1:11:09

Yeah. I know Orland was the best

1:11:11

person to get away from that giant

1:11:13

mythical bag. You don't know that we abandoned.

1:11:16

You you merely know that we were attempting to escape

1:11:18

as as you were. Yeah. Like,

1:11:20

I forgot that five minutes

1:11:22

of conversation before we started running.

1:11:24

Yeah. I'm

1:11:27

fine with Orlando reaching there first. I

1:11:29

I know.

1:11:29

Yeah. It doesn't matter to me. Same.

1:11:32

Yeah. Okay.

1:11:33

Because I'm not sure if I wanna get in there at all,

1:11:35

but we'll see as

1:11:39

Orland dives down

1:11:42

into the pool. As

1:11:44

the two of you slowly negotiate

1:11:47

the bell tower, we sort

1:11:50

of scan down the cathedral

1:11:52

and we see

1:11:55

a trio of leather armored

1:11:57

corpses their helms

1:11:59

staved in. They

1:12:02

are tangled up in

1:12:04

a cluster of moss. Growing

1:12:07

over them, they are becoming part of the

1:12:09

structure. Emerald

1:12:12

green spiders are

1:12:14

scuttling over their bones. And

1:12:17

that concludes ring four. Ring

1:12:20

five. At least

1:12:22

one treasure hunter makes their way inside the

1:12:24

cathedral. Orland.

1:12:27

Grandmother, Rubina, did not lie.

1:12:30

You have to hold your breath for a bit, but

1:12:33

you are able to swim

1:12:35

down and then back up, and

1:12:38

you appear in a well,

1:12:41

and then you climbed a little bit. Twenty

1:12:44

feet or so out of the well to come

1:12:46

right up into the center of the cathedral. And

1:12:50

it's as I described before, there

1:12:53

are There's a

1:12:55

letter in with the silver book. There's a large

1:12:58

alternative Mediac

1:13:00

iron, silver candelabras, lighting

1:13:03

the place, their oleut, and

1:13:05

the pews, the moss covered

1:13:08

pews. You even see

1:13:10

a few skeletons on the pews,

1:13:12

people who sat down and

1:13:15

revelry in

1:13:17

piety who knows how many centuries ago

1:13:20

and just died or rotted away.

1:13:23

Not unlike those two lovers

1:13:25

that you found, before that

1:13:28

were feeding each other on the rock.

1:13:32

Orland, how can you tell despite

1:13:34

everything that you have been that's been

1:13:36

hinted at to you or told to

1:13:37

you, how can you tell

1:13:39

that this is a holy

1:13:41

place? Just

1:13:44

the sheer verdant nature of

1:13:46

the planned life around it. I

1:13:48

have an innate trust for such

1:13:50

things. And I

1:13:52

I

1:13:52

don't believe that anything truly corrupt

1:13:54

could could grow this verdent

1:13:57

and green,

1:13:57

clean, you know.

1:13:59

You're here. What do you do?

1:14:02

There's a big silver book. Right? I

1:14:06

I approach that.

1:14:07

Yeah. Indeed, the book

1:14:09

is bound in green leather with pages or

1:14:11

silver,

1:14:11

and they

1:14:15

have written in

1:14:17

them if you clip

1:14:19

the pages. It is

1:14:23

stories. Of the ancient

1:14:25

world, of ancient Caldor,

1:14:28

of the time when the sisters

1:14:30

were mortal, when they walked

1:14:33

the earth as mortal women administered

1:14:37

to the people of that ancient

1:14:39

past. It's the

1:14:41

story of the saints. It's the story

1:14:43

of a history of this place. The

1:14:45

book is incredibly

1:14:49

valuable.

1:14:50

Whether it can leave this place or not is not

1:14:52

entirely clear, but nevertheless, it

1:14:54

is a fantastic

1:14:57

object. You

1:15:00

start to become aware of

1:15:02

three looming presences. Tall

1:15:07

towering presences. They

1:15:11

are Ethereal. They're transparent.

1:15:14

They're silvery. On

1:15:16

the left is

1:15:18

a woman on fire.

1:15:21

On the right, you

1:15:24

know it's grandmother, Grapfina. She

1:15:27

is still old,

1:15:30

but she seems more

1:15:32

ramrod straight, more

1:15:34

powerful. And the

1:15:36

center is a woman who wears

1:15:38

a crown made of antlers,

1:15:42

and they speak to you with one voice, though

1:15:45

you can

1:15:45

catch the crackle

1:15:47

of flame in the voice

1:15:50

or the wavering of the elderly

1:15:53

in the voice. But they say,

1:15:57

Beneath the Cathedral is

1:16:00

a direct passage to old

1:16:02

Caldor. Here,

1:16:05

you will find unimaginable

1:16:08

treasures. You

1:16:11

will have access to the lost

1:16:14

history. The histories have

1:16:17

faded for memory.

1:16:21

You can bring this truth to

1:16:23

the world and

1:16:25

you can know

1:16:28

that you are greatness.

1:16:33

But in order to reach these lost

1:16:36

depths, you

1:16:38

must spill blood

1:16:41

on the altar. You

1:16:44

must make a sacrifice of

1:16:47

the interlopers who are even now

1:16:49

trying to gain access to this place.

1:16:51

And here you will notice that there is

1:16:54

a dagger made of meteoric iron

1:16:56

on the altar, lie

1:16:58

in weight. And

1:17:01

take them one by one, spill

1:17:04

their blood upon the metal, and

1:17:07

the treasures of the ancient world are yours.

1:17:11

Your tongue,

1:17:13

whispers inside your mouth.

1:17:16

What came before was false?

1:17:19

But what you see now is true.

1:17:22

What do you do, Roland?

1:17:26

Can I make a plants

1:17:29

role?

1:17:31

What are you trying to well, just tell 2

1:17:34

I am trying to rig up some

1:17:36

sort of contact poison with the

1:17:38

book.

1:17:40

Oh, very good. I like that. Yeah.

1:17:43

You can absolutely do that.

1:17:46

And then I'm gonna hide with that knife. Yeah.

1:17:48

That's fine. Good. Sometime

1:17:51

later, 2

1:17:54

of you managed to reach the bell

1:17:56

tower. You're at the top of the bell tower. There

1:17:58

is a bell hanging there. And

1:18:00

there is a ringer that you could reach.

1:18:04

And there's stairs that

1:18:06

are essentially sort

1:18:08

of branches that have been kind of molded

1:18:10

into the shape of spiraled in staircase that

1:18:12

go down into the

1:18:14

down into the cathedral. Let's

1:18:16

just have the two of you there at the top of the bell tower.

1:18:20

Yeah. Prada is looking at the the bell to

1:18:22

see if there's any symbols, like,

1:18:25

what is this a bell

1:18:26

of? What what does tolling actually

1:18:29

do? Like, what is what did they intend for it

1:18:31

to do? Very

1:18:32

good.

1:18:35

I will tell you since you do have the appropriate

1:18:38

skills. If you ring

1:18:40

the bell, Let

1:18:42

me see how I wanna I know what I wanna say, but

1:18:44

I wanna make sure I conceptualize it the

1:18:46

right way for you. If

1:18:49

you ring the bell, you

1:18:51

will summon the

1:18:53

creatures of the of the

1:18:55

Meijer. Of the wood. They

1:18:57

will

1:18:57

respond to it. They

1:19:00

will come to worship. I Well,

1:19:05

Keith, and I was like, this is,

1:19:08

I guess, every church is the same. I go

1:19:10

like What what what what are the symbols on the devil

1:19:12

that make you think that? The

1:19:14

symbols,

1:19:18

it is a there are symbols

1:19:20

on the large trees

1:19:23

And on the branches of the trees are

1:19:25

songbirds, and their songs are going

1:19:27

up to the heavens. They're singing

1:19:30

to all the stars in the sky, the souls.

1:19:32

Of the afterlife. And below at

1:19:35

the bottom of the trees, all the animals

1:19:37

are gathering a flock to

1:19:40

service. So

1:19:42

yeah.

1:19:43

Well, do

1:19:44

you ring the bell or do you let it be?

1:19:47

No. I look at that because I said, well, it

1:19:49

it guess every church is the same, and they

1:19:52

always have a bell to signal

1:19:54

service for the faithful.

1:19:57

Yeah. I I would leave that bell alone.

1:20:00

Pardon?

1:20:01

Yes. I I intend to. I do.

1:20:03

The face full of this area are not people

1:20:06

want to summon in any droves, that would

1:20:08

be probably quite unfortunate for our existence

1:20:11

for continued existence. Yes.

1:20:13

I just

1:20:14

wanted you to know as well, so you didn't feel

1:20:16

like you

1:20:18

III assumed you had no urge

1:20:20

to to bring it. But Yeah.

1:20:23

Just so we're clear. Let us let

1:20:25

us descend. So, yeah, I am definitely not quittering

1:20:27

the

1:20:27

bell.

1:20:28

A bell left on rung is a happy bell.

1:20:31

Listen. Leave it alone. Yeah.

1:20:33

You descend down into the cathedral. It

1:20:36

is, as I described previously, except

1:20:39

you don't see the three towering looming figures, but

1:20:41

you do see the all and all that other business. And

1:20:44

in particular, Ocala, you see that book,

1:20:46

the silver page book that

1:20:49

your your nameless friend

1:20:51

spoke of. What do you both

1:20:54

do? I am

1:20:56

looking around for treasure.

1:20:59

I don't think Nagini

1:21:01

did we establish if the the kingdom of Nagini

1:21:03

worships the the sisters?

1:21:05

They do not, actually. Okay. No. They don't.

1:21:07

So they wouldn't

1:21:08

care if I brought that They would

1:21:09

no. No. But the symbol the silver candelabras

1:21:12

are just straight up valuable.

1:21:13

Okay. I I'm going after the question. I'm

1:21:15

I'm grabbing I'm I'm grabbing candelabra. Yeah.

1:21:18

So Parta is doing the

1:21:20

doing the thing, diluting. No

1:21:25

no no pretense here at all. What are you doing?

1:21:27

Okay. I'll approach the

1:21:29

book and look

1:21:31

upon it. I

1:21:33

left it open to a glitteringly

1:21:37

slightly moist, silver paid.

1:21:39

Yes. This is this

1:21:41

is the I think this is probably where the contest

1:21:43

rule comes in, like, whether you are poisoned

1:21:45

or not.

1:21:46

As with all things that I've encountered in

1:21:48

this cursed place,

1:21:51

I'm going to use

1:21:53

my skills are trickery. I definitely

1:21:55

don't feel like this is safe, and I definitely believe

1:21:58

it's trapped because it's safe.

1:22:00

Preparedly Park book in the middle of a

1:22:02

fucking

1:22:02

cathedral. I don't trust at one minute.

1:22:06

You have lots of good reason to not trust it even

1:22:08

though they are maybe not the correct reasons. Orland,

1:22:13

what will the poison do? Paralysis.

1:22:16

Yeah. I think this

1:22:18

is what's at stake in the contest role whether

1:22:21

Acholei sees the trap or

1:22:23

whether Acholei is

1:22:25

paralyzed. If everyone

1:22:27

agrees to those terms for the contest role,

1:22:29

we'll start building our

1:22:30

dive pool. I one hundred percent agree.

1:22:33

To the turn? Let's let's take a look at

1:22:36

your first light die. Orland,

1:22:39

you have plants, so you have your first light die.

1:22:41

Aqule, you have trickory. You have your first

1:22:43

light die. And so let's

1:22:45

keep going. You get another

1:22:47

light die for each mark of ruin you currently have.

1:22:50

Achile, you have five or you have five

1:22:52

or both up to six light dice.

1:22:56

Orland, I don't think you're taking a dark

1:22:58

die. Because your actions are not

1:23:00

fundamentally dangerous here. Okay.

1:23:03

But I do think you are taking one

1:23:05

accolade because of the poison. Yeah.

1:23:08

And so the count currently is

1:23:10

6061.

1:23:13

And then you get to add as many dark

1:23:15

dice as you wish This is basically the

1:23:17

whole enchilada here, folks. It's the end of the story.

1:23:19

So you can

1:23:21

you can win, but also go

1:23:23

to room

1:23:24

six. So can I do

1:23:26

that even if it's can

1:23:29

I do that even if I'm not in danger? I

1:23:32

I would've been I

1:23:33

don't have any dark dice. Because I

1:23:35

don't Did you get to add dark dice?

1:23:37

You still get the dark dice? Yeah. I didn't know if that was to add 2

1:23:40

guys. Come

1:23:40

again. It's

1:23:41

not inherently dangerous. You can make it

1:23:43

dangerous. You can make it dangerous. That's right. Yeah.

1:23:46

Yeah. So the count currently is six zero

1:23:48

and six one. I'll remind

1:23:50

you you're looking for as many sixes as you can

1:23:52

get. And then if you have if

1:23:54

you tie in sixes as you go to fives and so forth,

1:23:57

and any dark dice that come up a one your

1:23:59

ruin goes up. So neither

1:24:01

of you have much runway here on the

1:24:02

ruin. You can

1:24:04

win but also lose. That's the beauty

1:24:06

of this moment. Despite

1:24:11

the fact that I am a war hammer forty k

1:24:13

player, and I'm cursed with dice

1:24:15

rolls. I will take an additional

1:24:17

2 dark dice. Oh, you don't have to say? Yeah. You

1:24:19

just type in Okay.

1:24:20

Yeah. I'll take some additional dark dice.

1:24:24

Great. So So we'll change it fast. Change it. So it's

1:24:26

six --

1:24:26

Yes. -- like, kill it about. Yeah. We're

1:24:28

we're we're we'll we'll have six night nights

1:24:30

You both have six light and you have you're

1:24:32

starting with one

1:24:33

dark.

1:24:34

Okay. Cool. I am a new

1:24:36

layer. There's two layers count.

1:24:41

would've go ahead and type in your room.

1:24:43

Yeah. I'm good whenever. I'm good

1:24:45

too. Okay.

1:24:48

Achile got added

1:24:50

did add two extra drug guys, got

1:24:52

two sixes, did not

1:24:54

win because Orland

1:24:58

Oh, no. You both got two sixties. You both got

1:25:00

two sixties. You both got two sixties. No one got any ones

1:25:02

on the dark dice, and Orland only added one

1:25:04

dark die. So now we go to fives. And

1:25:07

you both got two fives. So

1:25:10

that's tied. Let's go to fours. I

1:25:12

got fours. Orland

1:25:15

got one

1:25:15

four. We both got fours. Oracle,

1:25:17

they got one four. We go to threes.

1:25:20

There you go in. Ocular

1:25:23

had no threes. Alright. So you're

1:25:26

in control here. Orland described. Achalais

1:25:29

paralysis?

1:25:32

I I will say he just freezes holding

1:25:34

the book. Like, he looks like he's fixed for

1:25:36

the passage, but it's a it's a full

1:25:38

muscle

1:25:39

constrictories, just they are shivering at the

1:25:41

lectern. Yeah. Aqulei had described them

1:25:43

moment when you realized that the the trap was

1:25:45

something much more mundane, nothing you

1:25:48

anticipated.

1:25:50

The second the the tingling

1:25:52

sensation started creeping up his hands or

1:25:55

their hands, they were very well

1:25:57

aware oh, someone got here

1:25:59

before me. This isn't

1:26:02

this isn't some supernatural. This

1:26:04

isn't some sisters. This

1:26:06

is

1:26:06

subject. This is skull Douggery. This is a someone

1:26:08

has betrayed me.

1:26:11

You're skull Douggery. Orland,

1:26:15

Part of this, I will say

1:26:17

before the before the paralysis fully

1:26:19

sets in, a rice smile

1:26:21

does form on my face.

1:26:26

Orland Para is busy doing

1:26:28

the the looting, and I'm sure

1:26:30

it's sufficiently distracted since you're lying in

1:26:32

weight. What do you do, Orland? Did

1:26:35

I need both of them?

1:26:37

They

1:26:38

weren't clear. I think

1:26:40

you can decide that. They weren't they weren't

1:26:42

clear.

1:26:44

But, yeah, I'll just log up and slit his

1:26:46

throat. Yeah. Sure.

1:26:48

That is the second contest role assuming you

1:26:50

do not wanna have your throat thread. Your throat

1:26:52

slit. Parta. Nope. Let's

1:26:55

go to dice. Oh, no. I meant the

1:26:57

paralyzed one. I would I would like

1:27:00

it to be no contest. Thank you very much.

1:27:04

Well, then I I do wanna let Pareto chime

1:27:06

in then because if you're gonna break your cover,

1:27:08

I think Pareto you'll see what's about to happen and you

1:27:10

can try to stop it or just let it

1:27:11

happen. It's up to you. Yeah. I would probably, like,

1:27:14

have a chance of peripheral vision. Mhmm. And

1:27:16

if I see Orland come out someone

1:27:19

who needs a good stab. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

1:27:21

I do have a sword. I didn't mention that. So,

1:27:24

yeah, if I see Orland come out of the shadows of the

1:27:26

knife, I'm gonna draw my sword and I

1:27:30

didn't see Let's

1:27:34

see, accolade, paralyzed. I'd be like,

1:27:36

oh, shit. Yeah.

1:27:40

I I will probably

1:27:44

yelling, what what are you doing at

1:27:47

yeah. Probably. Well,

1:27:49

Orland, once you realize that Parta has

1:27:51

the jumpers is sees what you're about to

1:27:53

do, or do you continue, or do you stop?

1:27:58

III tell him to wait. You

1:28:00

know, hold on. III have my knife

1:28:02

to his acne's throat, but I'm telling

1:28:04

him to stay

1:28:05

back. Yeah. Okay. I'll I'll

1:28:07

stay back. Like, what what is why

1:28:10

are you doing this? We've not

1:28:12

been the best of companions, but I

1:28:15

stood against a god and said I wasn't

1:28:17

going to kill you.

1:28:19

Did he? Well,

1:28:23

no. He didn't. I still

1:28:25

Who is that? My knife mercy

1:28:28

right now? Well, accolade

1:28:30

is.

1:28:32

I I see I don't see what your

1:28:34

objection is. He has betrayed

1:28:36

us both. And there is

1:28:38

a price to the knowledge we seek or

1:28:40

the treasure you seek. I

1:28:43

would not wish to pay it. I don't

1:28:45

think you wish to pay it. When

1:28:48

the bill has been foisted off by

1:28:50

him, and I'm just gesturing

1:28:52

with the knife to mister paralyzed

1:28:54

eyes here. I you're

1:29:01

saying there's more treasure? Yes.

1:29:04

Oh, well, actually, I'm

1:29:07

sure you understand. It's

1:29:09

nothing personal. Can I

1:29:11

speak in my paralyzed

1:29:13

state? Not with that

1:29:14

knife going into your throat right now.

1:29:18

Let's still look forward to decide whether you can speak

1:29:20

or not. I'm

1:29:22

not gonna say anything, but I'm gonna lower

1:29:24

my sword a bit. And

1:29:27

there's a spray. Yeah. Okay. I'll

1:29:29

dump it on the esacroficial alter

1:29:32

as a spray of blood. There's a spray of

1:29:34

blood in the alter. There's a girdle from

1:29:36

Achalais mouth as it bubbles over.

1:29:39

There is an intense sense of satisfaction

1:29:42

coming from the entities of this place.

1:29:46

Aqua, how are you feeling right now as you see your

1:29:48

life blood flowing onto the

1:29:50

iron? Content because I know

1:29:52

more will come in my stead. You don't.

1:29:55

Yeah. The message the message of

1:29:57

of marijuana does not die with me.

1:29:59

Well, there will be more. We're gonna daisy chain

1:30:02

more called this to die 2 this fucking

1:30:04

swap. The

1:30:06

altar, indeed,

1:30:09

upon the blood being spilled upon it, the altar

1:30:11

actually physically disappears

1:30:15

revealing a

1:30:17

winding staircase that goes deep

1:30:19

into the earth. And

1:30:22

I think we wrap up the story with the

1:30:24

two of you setting aside

1:30:26

Aqulei's body

1:30:28

descending down into the darkness beneath

1:30:30

the Flocculent cathedral. That

1:30:33

concludes ring five, but we're not quite

1:30:35

done yet. I'd like

1:30:37

to do a set of epilogue's. Aqule,

1:30:40

you can or bands, you

1:30:42

can epilogue about the cult of Dara Wan

1:30:44

in your absence or whatever you

1:30:45

want. The other two of you

1:30:47

can have the log about just where your character

1:30:50

is in the future. How do they end up? What

1:30:52

do we know about them? Maybe nothing, but maybe

1:30:54

something. I do though,

1:30:56

I think I would like for the two

1:30:58

living people to make one more room

1:31:00

roll. Mhmm. Just to see

1:31:02

if you are lost at the end.

1:31:05

Do I get a reduction for stabbing this

1:31:07

in the neck? That seems like a betrayal. Was

1:31:10

it

1:31:10

five? Yeah.

1:31:11

That's that's actually fair. Yeah.

1:31:13

I would say that he gave in to the ruinous

1:31:15

natures of this area. Yeah.

1:31:18

I gotta

1:31:18

feel like all in his car. Right. Yeah.

1:31:21

That's I think that's I'll do a run do a run

1:31:23

roll. See it goes. Okay. You're both

1:31:25

okay. Fine. Just barely okay.

1:31:29

Epilogs. River wants to go first take

1:31:31

it away. I will. I have mine already

1:31:33

decided. As

1:31:37

I said before, my only friend in

1:31:39

the order before I said on

1:31:41

this journey was Jory. I felt member

1:31:43

of the church that I was excommunicated from.

1:31:47

I told him if I do not return

1:31:49

within the month that you should

1:31:51

take up my man take the mantle of

1:31:53

marijuana and follow the pursuits

1:31:55

that I did. And so that's what is that's

1:31:57

what will happen. Accolades

1:32:00

accolades quest will be carried

1:32:02

by another Acalay,

1:32:05

acalates. Yep. The acalates

1:32:07

of

1:32:07

acalates. A little

1:32:09

bit of old new cults.

1:32:11

Yeah. There you go. Terrible

1:32:13

to talk about.

1:32:17

What if what if your friend comes to the edge of the gloomier

1:32:19

and you visit him in a dream. To

1:32:22

give him vision. Yeah. Wherever

1:32:24

you toss that prism, Nicholas is where I'll be

1:32:26

waiting.

1:32:27

Oh, yeah. There you go. Oh, that's truly good, actually.

1:32:29

Yeah. That's like your You're there. Yeah. That's

1:32:31

right. Great. Okay. Alright.

1:32:34

Part of Rolvan?

1:32:36

I part of Rolvan. So

1:32:41

Part Negative. The

1:32:44

heir apparent is married. And

1:32:48

soon after, magna gets

1:32:50

a new name as divergent kingdom,

1:32:53

as their agriculture, and

1:32:56

it is an arid kingdom, but it becomes,

1:32:58

you know, more for content,

1:33:01

you know, there's more wineries

1:33:05

and and and and fine growing and

1:33:08

It it's there's a

1:33:10

renewed there's sort of a hybrid

1:33:12

religion of the sisters in the nagmas, so

1:33:15

it's sort of like Alexandria

1:33:18

where, you know, the Greek and Egypt. So

1:33:20

it's a similar sort of, like, hybridization of

1:33:22

the religion. They worship all the deities

1:33:25

there. And then

1:33:27

the the the House of Para,

1:33:30

that minor kingdom on the border, they

1:33:33

it just one day is

1:33:35

utterly wiped out by the unknown

1:33:37

ruin, and

1:33:40

it becomes a swamp. But

1:33:42

none of the other bloodline

1:33:45

is survives this

1:33:47

unnamed disaster. There are very few witnesses

1:33:50

and they do not speak of it publicly.

1:33:54

But yeah, as as time goes on, Nagana

1:33:56

becomes more and more lush and

1:33:58

burdened. And the life expectancy of the people

1:34:00

goes way down as

1:34:04

people know not to travel outside of the

1:34:06

walls of the towns at night because

1:34:08

things lure you know, work

1:34:10

out in the in the in the forests.

1:34:13

Very good. Thank you. Mhmm. Paulette?

1:34:17

I think Orland gets the bad end and

1:34:19

that he gets everything he wants. So

1:34:22

he makes etchings of the silver book,

1:34:24

cleaned of poisoned, and learns

1:34:27

the ancients of

1:34:30

this the, you know, the labyrinth

1:34:32

beneath I I

1:34:34

imagine when he returns, he gets quite famous

1:34:36

as a result, but his publications

1:34:39

lead other people to the Flocculent Cathedral

1:34:41

like mobs towards flames.

1:34:44

And he realizes that he has

1:34:46

done great harm to the world. So I

1:34:49

imagine Orland spends many of his days

1:34:51

trying to find a soul RPPR than

1:34:53

oculus because he

1:34:55

knows what the sisters eat now and

1:34:57

he'll do what he does best and try and

1:35:00

poison them to make it stop. So

1:35:03

guess that's his new mission, find

1:35:05

the worst bastard he can possibly

1:35:07

find. And make

1:35:10

that the soul that he feeds to those

1:35:12

horrible Crohn's eating people in

1:35:14

the swamp.

1:35:15

Yeah. I love

1:35:17

it. That's the follicular

1:35:19

and Cathedral and that

1:35:21

concludes our Game of Trophy Dark.

1:35:23

Why don't we do a quick debrief?

1:35:26

Just talk about the two sessions. We can

1:35:29

do us stars format if

1:35:31

you want, just things you liked. Wishes

1:35:34

could be things that you maybe would have

1:35:36

liked to have seen if the story had gone in a different direction.

1:35:39

But otherwise or just

1:35:42

talk about the game. I'll just say that the outset I had a really

1:35:44

good time. I enjoyed the story a lot.

1:35:46

enjoyed playing with the three of you a lot. Everyone

1:35:50

did a really great job this session of leaning

1:35:52

into the danger, leaning into the

1:35:54

betrayal, leaning into

1:35:56

the just the kind of the

1:35:59

fucked upidness of this place. Right?

1:36:01

Like, just a really good job of, like, taking

1:36:04

this place on its own

1:36:06

terms and leaning into that. So that is really

1:36:08

truly, like, play, lose, ethos, and I was

1:36:10

notes here for it. A lot. Yeah. Yeah.

1:36:12

That was my that was my initial

1:36:13

thoughts. I might have more to say in a minute, but, you know. Yeah.

1:36:16

I just think it's a very elegant

1:36:18

system. I think it's very it lends itself

1:36:21

to great role playing. And I

1:36:23

think you could use this with

1:36:25

with it's it's there's there's a complexity

1:36:27

and then it's the way the role play mechanic works

1:36:29

with the dice is kinda fun to kinda delve into and

1:36:32

kinda learn like, you know, it encourages

1:36:34

you to think the role play more

1:36:36

than just like, my character does this,

1:36:38

and I think it could be a really good way of

1:36:43

which feels like problem with a lot of RPG is a hard

1:36:45

time it's you have a hard time bringing in new players

1:36:47

to the hobby that don't really know how to role play because

1:36:49

it's kind of a weird way

1:36:51

to act for most people that don't do

1:36:53

that in their normal lives. And so I

1:36:55

think you could really help encourage new people

1:36:58

to the hobby

1:36:58

to, like, here. This is how you actually can embody

1:37:00

a role. Actually, play it out. Actually, talk

1:37:02

to Windows how to tell the story. Right? Yeah. I mean,

1:37:04

that's yeah. And so I think this is a very

1:37:07

good system for that. I think it's the role

1:37:09

playing is so strong. think it just

1:37:11

encourages strong role

1:37:12

playing, so I'd love that about it. Mhmm.

1:37:14

Great. Yeah. Yeah. And this particular

1:37:16

thing, I think we all, like, you

1:37:19

know, both of you chose really interesting characters

1:37:23

architects just through the list that I can

1:37:26

understand where your character was coming from and what

1:37:28

they were going like, their actions made

1:37:30

sense, and I really like that. And,

1:37:33

like, for me, my my viewers at the moment is, like,

1:37:35

oh, you said treasure. Well, I guess,

1:37:37

I will betray you that accolade. Even though,

1:37:39

like, Acalay had this whole narrative arc

1:37:41

of, like, each betraying the other and, like, hating

1:37:43

each other, then, like, no, we'll work together. We

1:37:45

can both profit from this. And

1:37:47

then as soon as it's convenient, like, nah.

1:37:50

Like, I'm just gonna and then,

1:37:52

like, as a as a like noble, my my

1:37:54

my instinct is to, like, just

1:37:57

offload all my misery 2 other people.

1:37:59

It's it's just a, like yeah.

1:38:01

Like, betray my friend was convenient or betray

1:38:04

my companion when it's convenient and then, like, when

1:38:06

I go back to Nagana, it's like, the

1:38:08

sisters gave me riches, so I need to help them

1:38:10

out. Although Oh, yeah. Yeah. So I didn't

1:38:12

for a second think you were going to try

1:38:14

and save me from Caleb. I knew for a fact I

1:38:16

was fucked. Like, I knew Caleb was

1:38:18

gonna be killing me though. Like,

1:38:20

I am not your champion here. I'm not

1:38:22

gonna save you. Yeah.

1:38:23

Yeah. So I really like how

1:38:25

that narrative arc worked out and

1:38:28

and the gameplay really. I

1:38:30

think also Yeah.

1:38:33

I really liked my mom when was talking to, like, there was,

1:38:35

like, I'm not gonna kill for you. Like, I and

1:38:37

it was more like, I don't kill people. That's someone

1:38:39

else's job. That's Yeah. That's

1:38:42

gross. So yeah. No.

1:38:44

It's really

1:38:44

cool. Caleb, any

1:38:47

thoughts? I enjoyed it quite a

1:38:49

bit. I I like the system quite a

1:38:51

lot. I

1:38:53

think it's great. I I could see it

1:38:55

crippling like the I've only played DND

1:38:57

player before, but that is not me. Mhmm.

1:39:00

Also, that's a benefit, I think. That's a

1:39:02

I agree. Yeah. That's not a criticism. Yeah.

1:39:05

And but as a yeah. As a Delta Green play

1:39:08

to lose player. Yeah. It

1:39:10

does it fits right up my alley.

1:39:12

I I am kinda stunned

1:39:14

when my character survived most games I play.

1:39:16

So

1:39:17

ago. Yeah. I enjoyed it quite

1:39:19

a bit. I really like your moment at the end where

1:39:21

you're like, oh, no. I'm gonna play some of the books. It's

1:39:23

like, oh, that's good. And

1:39:25

then it was, like, unlike, you you really shows,

1:39:27

like, well, I got, like, up 2 then, you become, like, the

1:39:29

nicest out of all of us, and then, like, helping

1:39:31

you offer you at the beginning. And then, like, never

1:39:34

been poisoned.

1:39:35

It's it's five

1:39:36

o'clock. Was that five? Yeah. It was it was poisoned

1:39:38

in 2. It was poisoned in town. Yeah.

1:39:40

It's poisoned o'clock.

1:39:41

Right. Yeah. Well, that's very If what I have

1:39:43

to read the story, I like that the

1:39:45

story, like,

1:39:48

the true nature of the sisters was

1:39:51

ambiguous and it stayed

1:39:53

ambiguous. Yeah. Like like we learned

1:39:55

some things, but then maybe we didn't. And

1:39:58

There's a lot of, like, unreliable narration and

1:40:00

information giving going on, which I thought was

1:40:02

great. So I really like that

1:40:04

aspect of it. We don't even really know what

1:40:07

they

1:40:07

I mean, like, could have made it kinda sound

1:40:09

like there were treasures down

1:40:11

below, but we never saw what was 0III

1:40:13

had to, like, you know, I hoped -- Yeah. -- I was hoping

1:40:15

to keep him from a chance. So

1:40:18

Yeah. So I thought that was really interesting.

1:40:20

The the there's there's a lot of, like, really beautiful, like, kind

1:40:22

of ambiguity in

1:40:23

it. Yeah. I like to say that I say this

1:40:25

a lot that, like, Trophy Dark is, like, the

1:40:27

the a twenty four horror movie role playing

1:40:29

game. Do you know? Because it's one hundred years.

1:40:32

It felt like it's. Yeah.

1:40:34

And and and you you get that almost every time

1:40:36

you play. And this it was really strong in this

1:40:38

session 2. Just this sort of, like,

1:40:40

this very, like, heightened operatic horror

1:40:43

filled with ambiguity and, like, and

1:40:46

and filled with more like just like

1:40:49

mellow drama and emotion.

1:40:50

Right? Like, I I really, really dug in. I thought

1:40:52

it was quite yeah, if, like, that if that

1:40:54

game could be described, it's, like, the mood

1:40:56

of, like, the witch and -- Right.

1:40:58

--

1:40:58

like, midsummer. All midsummer.

1:41:00

Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. And and, like, the green

1:41:02

night and the dark moments of the Yeah. Right.

1:41:04

Yeah.

1:41:07

Was it I do this one is about

1:41:09

the the the sisters or whatever the DOD

1:41:11

is, like, It's all my least certain things of any RPG

1:41:13

setting or system is, like, dd's

1:41:16

with discernible motivations -- Mhmm.

1:41:18

-- drive me insane, and that's why I love

1:41:20

this. Because I was, like, I don't know if

1:41:22

these really are deities or if they're entities

1:41:25

or demons or just evil

1:41:27

creatures that are very

1:41:27

powerful. People

1:41:30

do worship them though, so there's some credence

1:41:32

to what they believe. But I don't know if what I believe is

1:41:34

what the I don't know if they have my best interest at

1:41:36

heart. I love

1:41:38

that. If the three of you if the three of you take look

1:41:40

at the the PDFs for the games

1:41:42

that I sent you all, you'll you'll learn

1:41:44

a little bit more about the, like, kind of setting. But the thing

1:41:46

about the setting, which we were really intentional

1:41:48

about when we were making it. And even though I'm not the designer

1:41:51

of the game, I had a big hand in how the setting went.

1:41:53

And we've

1:41:56

tried to make it so that the setting,

1:41:58

there are certain things that are true,

1:42:01

there are certain things that are dependable information

1:42:03

in the setting, but it is otherwise

1:42:06

very, very open to interpretation. And

1:42:08

players can kind of take

1:42:11

the threads and create

1:42:13

their own version of the trophy world. That's why

1:42:15

the setting book is called Loom because --

1:42:17

Okay. -- it the idea is you're sort like,

1:42:19

weaving your own, like, kind of story.

1:42:24

But there are some things that are definitely

1:42:26

true though. And the the main

1:42:28

sort of sweep of the settings history

1:42:30

is really important to

1:42:32

understand. I I it's not important to

1:42:34

understand, but it's helpful to understand, like, how your

1:42:36

characters were doing what they were doing. And so

1:42:38

basically, the idea is

1:42:40

in the ancient part of this world, it's a pretty classic

1:42:42

setup. You have this like ancient civilization that

1:42:45

is much more advanced than the current day

1:42:47

civilization. But

1:42:49

they they

1:42:51

were essentially at war with giants.

1:42:54

And The only way they could

1:42:56

defeat the giants is to poison

1:42:58

the air essentially. That's never really defined

1:43:00

what that means, but they quote unquote poison

1:43:03

the air. And it caused the giants

1:43:05

die, and there are indeed remnants of

1:43:07

the giants all over the place. But

1:43:09

then the society itself eventually,

1:43:11

like, kind of, collapse to ruin

1:43:14

and decay and kind of madness. Right?

1:43:16

And so that's that's old caldor. But

1:43:19

that civilization was

1:43:22

the essentially watered

1:43:25

the the root system of the forest

1:43:27

that grew atop it. And so three

1:43:29

quarters of the continent is forest at

1:43:32

the Caldur forest and the Gomomir is

1:43:34

part of that. And the idea is

1:43:36

this forest is grown

1:43:38

from the madness and malignancy

1:43:41

and magic of this ancient civilization.

1:43:44

Like, it's what's left basically. Right? Mhmm.

1:43:46

And and so,

1:43:48

well, the people in contemporary world,

1:43:51

they are just they're always trying to get

1:43:53

relics from ancient caldur, but that means going

1:43:55

into the woods and which

1:43:57

don't want them there. The woods hate

1:44:00

people. And so the the woods

1:44:02

do things to, like, mess with people.

1:44:04

Right? And so the religion

1:44:06

that sprung up is

1:44:08

this religion that tries to

1:44:10

take this disparate, like,

1:44:13

loose confederation of, like, folk

1:44:15

and pagan beliefs essentially and try to make

1:44:17

some sense of it, you know. But

1:44:19

there's a lot of it there's a lot of hints in the

1:44:21

setting that, like, that the religion

1:44:24

is itself is false, that the sisters are false.

1:44:26

And so we get to see a lot of that in the flock of cathedral

1:44:28

today. And I think in last week, so I I

1:44:30

think that was really great. Mhmm. Yeah.

1:44:33

Yeah. Sorry. That was I mean, to ramble

1:44:35

on, but No. No. No. That's that's really interesting. I

1:44:37

like the idea of, like, this yeah. Like,

1:44:39

an ecosystem sprung up from this basically

1:44:42

magical fallout

1:44:43

radiation. Like, that's

1:44:44

Right. Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. Yeah.

1:44:47

So it gets fucking weird. It's

1:44:49

very weird. Well, yeah. And, like, the and, like, the modern

1:44:51

day, like, sort of, people of the setting, they're very,

1:44:53

like, they're very much, like,

1:44:56

before the sisters arrived, they were very much, like,

1:44:58

steeped in, like it

1:45:02

it's called the it's called the age of occlusion in

1:45:04

the setting, the the occluded era. Like, when

1:45:06

people were just kind of basically stupid, like, they

1:45:08

didn't know what's going on. Like like, a

1:45:11

pig wanders off into

1:45:13

the woods and the people interpret this

1:45:15

pig as, like, they give it meaning. And now

1:45:17

they start worshiping this pig that wandered off.

1:45:19

Right? Like, they have these, like, very, like, simple

1:45:21

beliefs. Right? And and there's thousands

1:45:24

of little religions like this. And

1:45:26

the sisters, like, are like an

1:45:28

attempt to, like, weave

1:45:30

it all together and hold it all together and make

1:45:32

some sense of it, you know. Mhmm. And

1:45:35

and that's and so whatever civilization

1:45:37

has managed to build up in those

1:45:39

times. It's because of the sisters, but then there's

1:45:41

an indication of the sisters themselves are no good.

1:45:43

Yeah. Yeah. See, like,

1:45:45

for me, I know, like, part there's

1:45:48

two ways he could be actually, like, even

1:45:50

though he gains political power and everything. Either

1:45:53

he is, like, this cowering, noble

1:45:55

who's continually sacrificing people

1:45:57

to keep the sisters from cursing them further,

1:46:00

or he's become this mutated mon

1:46:03

you know, bloodborne but plants

1:46:05

kind of monster, you know, like, it's one of

1:46:07

those two things hiding in the castle. So

1:46:09

either way, it's not gonna

1:46:10

be, like, a happy a dude for Yeah. It's

1:46:13

it's funny you mentioned blood borne because, like,

1:46:15

the the the setting,

1:46:17

the the where we're playing through, it just gave me that, like,

1:46:19

kingdom and ruin feeling of, like, every frame soft

1:46:21

game where it's like -- Mhmm. -- you've arrived

1:46:24

at this once grand kingdom, like, eldering

1:46:27

dark souls, like all of it. It's like

1:46:29

always some once brilliant,

1:46:31

beautiful thing that existed. It is

1:46:33

no longer what it is. It is just

1:46:36

a a fucked message

1:46:38

of what it used to

1:46:39

be. And so, like, you're trying to, like,

1:46:40

survive it. And it's like, oh, yeah.

1:46:42

The corruption influence of this place, you're not immune

1:46:45

to those. Like, you will you can be as corrupted

1:46:47

as what already exists

1:46:48

here. You can join it.

1:46:49

Mhmm. That's really the dark school.

1:46:52

Dark school is an elder ring. They they all have this,

1:46:54

like, kind of there's always,

1:46:56

like, a cataclysm -- Mhmm. -- and

1:46:58

that that's like like the cataclysm just

1:47:00

happened, you know, and and the

1:47:02

people you run into are like that they're kinda

1:47:04

dealing with a fallout of whatever the cataclysm was

1:47:06

and they're and they're desperate and they're weird and

1:47:09

they're they're clearly traumatized. Right?

1:47:11

The world of Trophy is like a

1:47:13

hundred years beyond that. Right. It was the

1:47:15

cataclysm, and the people were

1:47:17

were all, like, kinda crazy and and and

1:47:20

separated it and and whatever. And and

1:47:22

we pick up in Trophy, like, when

1:47:24

things have just started to try to come

1:47:26

back together little bit. Right? And that's

1:47:28

that's that's the way I like to think about it. It's like, if

1:47:30

you took Eldon Ring and just fast forwarded, like,

1:47:32

just a few

1:47:33

decades. That's where the trophy world is.

1:47:35

Yeah. That's awesome. Yeah. Brilliant?

1:47:38

Perfect. Also also, kudos to you. Kudos

1:47:40

to our

1:47:41

GM. You are amazing.

1:47:42

Yeah. Thank you. Yeah. No.

1:47:44

That yeah. It was really fun and

1:47:46

giving us, like, the space to actually roll play scenes

1:47:48

and, like

1:47:49

yeah. Encouraging that

1:47:50

that

1:47:50

mean mean, that's, like yeah. I like to make my Gurgley

1:47:52

noises. I'm

1:47:54

I'm a Gurgley noise g. Oh, yeah. Things

1:47:59

that kiss and gurgle. Mhmm. That's what

1:48:01

I'd love to do. Exactly. That

1:48:04

is any other stars or

1:48:06

witches or anything else you wanna

1:48:07

say? I just I had great time

1:48:09

and I just -- Yeah. -- really loved it as a treat.

1:48:11

Yeah. Can't work. Yeah. Yeah. We 2 delve

1:48:13

through these PDFs and then flick that on stick

1:48:15

my friends. Think oh, yeah. No. I'm definitely I'm

1:48:18

looking at Trophy Loom right now. Yeah. I

1:48:20

definitely wanna play this in other settings, like,

1:48:23

my first expression 2 this was, like, there's

1:48:25

a bunch of trophy dark hacks

1:48:27

on h dot IMA third party staff. Yes. Yeah.

1:48:30

A third party staff. And Like,

1:48:32

there's one that's, like, specifically themed

1:48:34

after, like, annihilation and

1:48:36

stalking. Like and, like, oh, god. There's a big

1:48:38

influence on Jesse in the gay game. Like, like, annihilation

1:48:41

of stalking. Like, I think I'm listening to the book as, like,

1:48:43

major

1:48:43

influences.

1:48:44

No. You definitely get the vibe. Yeah.

1:48:46

Mhmm. Yeah. I would be like,

1:48:48

I had a bear. Yeah. Yeah. I had a bear

1:48:50

like, you did. I mean, a hundred percent thought of the

1:48:52

annihilation bear. But Yeah.

1:48:54

Yeah. I was like, I was I was I

1:48:56

was I was here that does the bear talk in the voice

1:48:59

of one of the bandits, like, get out, like Right.

1:49:01

Yeah. Yeah. That would have been

1:49:03

great. But I

1:49:05

yeah. I think the the only thing, like, next time,

1:49:08

like, if I run Duffy Dark, would be to

1:49:10

give all the players, like, you're all you

1:49:12

all know each other and trust each other, like, to to

1:49:14

emphasize, instead of like us being,

1:49:16

like, Randos, like, traveling, Like,

1:49:19

if we were all, like, we're all gonna

1:49:21

go out together in this expedition to get this thing,

1:49:24

and then that makes the bet betrayal mechanics

1:49:26

that much more intense. Yeah.

1:49:28

I think it depends on the

1:49:29

setting. Right? I mean, like, I

1:49:31

like the sort of, like, vagueness myself. Like,

1:49:34

I I prefer the vagueness of are these people

1:49:36

together, you know? Right. But I know people who

1:49:38

play it more, like, they look kind of set

1:49:40

it up in more, like, you know, kind of, like,

1:49:42

maybe almost like little sort of prologue

1:49:44

of, like, here is you all got together. And

1:49:46

that's cool 2. That's perfectly fine. Yeah.

1:49:48

You can actually play RPPR Dark. The companion

1:49:50

game, the sister game Trophy Gold, which is the much more

1:49:52

like it's a campaign length game.

1:49:56

There is a campaign structure in the Trophy Dark book

1:49:58

that incorporates them both. And so you you're playing

1:50:00

Trophy Gold and Trophy Dark. And Trophy Dark

1:50:02

is almost like It's like

1:50:04

prologue for the stuff happening in Trippy Gold

1:50:06

or it's like side stories, you know. And

1:50:08

so you do get to kind of flesh out that that

1:50:12

that back story a lot more in that mode

1:50:14

for

1:50:14

sure. But, yes, a

1:50:17

lot of that comes down to taste, I think, in a couple Yeah. I

1:50:19

just wanna try it to see how it works. So yeah.

1:50:21

Yeah. Because yeah.

1:50:23

But, I mean, this

1:50:24

yeah. I mean, this this was great. So I don't I don't make

1:50:26

much about this. Yeah, I just asked for for a variety

1:50:28

really more than anything else, because I definitely

1:50:29

wanna You know, and a lot of players love that. A lot of players love that. lot players

1:50:32

love they wanna like, how do we know each

1:50:34

other, and that's

1:50:35

that's a legit that's why am I traveling with this person.

1:50:37

Yeah. Right. Yeah. Especially

1:50:39

when they start acting when they're acting, it's like, why am I

1:50:41

doing this? Yeah. I wouldn't

1:50:43

2 to sleep around this person. I would

1:50:46

I would be afraid I would not wake up.

1:50:48

Right.

1:50:49

So yeah. Yeah.

1:50:51

That was great. I think with I think with how

1:50:54

adversarial members of the RPPR

1:50:58

cast can be with one another. Mhmm.

1:51:00

I think this game lives itself to their style our

1:51:02

style of playing. Yeah. That's Sure.

1:51:04

I really do want Tom and Aaron to play in the same one

1:51:06

because they will definitely, like,

1:51:09

be, like, be betraying each other

1:51:11

at the first possible of these. Right. Yeah.

1:51:13

That'd be very good. Yeah.

1:51:15

No. That's great. So and

1:51:19

how can people people can find out about

1:51:21

TRVRP at trophy rpg dot

1:51:22

com, I believe. Yep. Yeah. And

1:51:25

the PDFs are currently on drive thru.

1:51:27

The physical books are gonna be available to purchase

1:51:29

pretty soon too. They're they're in the warehouse. Right

1:51:31

now being yeah. They should be being on

1:51:33

their way to Kickstarter backers. But

1:51:36

we have a not a huge number.

1:51:38

We do have some physical ones available for sale.

1:51:41

And yeah.

1:51:43

But the PDFs are always gonna be there on drive through

1:51:45

IPG. Just search RPPR dark or gold and blue,

1:51:47

and it comes right up. Yeah. We'll have links

1:51:49

in the show

1:51:50

up. So Cool.

1:51:52

Well, thank you so much, Jason, for running

1:51:54

for us today. Just

1:51:55

Oh, thanks for having me. Awesome. Yeah. Yeah.

1:51:58

Alright. And we'll talk to you all

1:52:00

later. Bye. Bye.
