explore your passions and become your best self.

0:04

Hi, I'm Allison and I'm a biology student.

0:06

In preparation for my future career, I work

0:09

as an animal care steward at the Hiram

0:11

College field station. I find my work to

0:13

be very rewarding as I adapt my skills

0:16

in animal care. I've learned how to care

0:18

for injured animals and even become trained in

0:20

handling of raptors. Learn how you can pursue

1:01

killed my dog. Something killed your dog. My

1:04

dog went flying through the air over the tree. I don't

1:06

know how it did it. Okay.

1:09

Damn, and I'm really confused. All I saw was my

1:11

dog coming over the fence and he was dead when

1:13

he hit the ground. I didn't see any cars. All

1:16

I saw was my dog coming over the fence. What

1:23

are you

1:26

reporting? We

1:37

got someone or something crawling

1:39

around out here. Did

1:47

you see what it was? It was standing up. I'm

1:49

not here looking through the window now and I don't

1:52

see anything. I don't want to go outside. Jesus

1:55

Christ, you better see him.

1:58

Hello. Get

2:00

somebody out here. What's going on now, sir? Son

2:02

of a bitch is about 10 foot 9, I

2:05

don't know. Do you see him now,

2:07

sir? Yes, I'm looking right at him. Greetings

2:09

from Alaska. I'm going to share with you

2:11

an experience that happened to Mr. Jeff Rogers.

2:14

He currently resides in California. He's

2:16

a carpenter. He used

2:19

to go build remote cabins and

2:22

he doesn't anymore. This

2:24

particular place is off the

2:27

Kenai Peninsula, but he left from the

2:29

Kenai Peninsula to go to this place in a small bush

2:31

plain. The client was a very wealthy guy. It's

2:35

very no expense. It had taken several years to

2:37

reach the point to where Jeff was going to

2:39

do the trim work, the finish work, the timing

2:41

groove on the inside of this cabin because it

2:43

was beautiful. But the cabin had been being built

2:46

for at least five years at this point. He

2:48

just figured it was logistics. He didn't know Alaska. He got

2:50

hired on an internet ad. He didn't even build the cabin.

2:52

He responds. He gets there. Now,

2:55

the first night he's there, there's one

2:58

other person that's there that had arrived

3:00

the day before him, which was hired

3:02

on to be basically a house mouse.

3:05

He attended camp, cooked for the carpenter, helped

3:07

him if needed. That type of thing, just

3:09

a helper person. This guy's name was

3:11

Art. Art was

3:13

from somewhere up by

3:15

the Fairbanks area. Very well-spoken Native gentleman.

3:18

Very kind, caring, and very intelligent. So,

3:21

he gets there. He's on loading all pleasantries. Hey,

3:23

and Art's like, hey, I got some lunch for

3:25

you. It's really good. We'll go.

3:27

We'll eat. And then I can show you

3:30

where all the material is and everything. So, the guy was on point

3:32

with his job, Art was. And so, Jeff

3:35

felt really okay, cool. I'm being paid good

3:37

money for this. Is this guy even going

3:39

to help me? He's already cooked this guy?

3:41

All right, yes. He's feeling really good about

3:43

this point, right? He does the same, eats,

3:46

checks out the materials, going through a little checklist.

3:48

He was a little short on the tongue-in group

3:50

for the interiors, but it was no big deal.

3:53

He was going to be there for a week. That's what the

3:55

schedule was. If there was still stuff

3:57

left to do, the only way I'm out for

3:59

a few days. days, little R&R and they bring

4:01

him back to finish up. The guy had deep

4:03

pockets so it would cost wasn't an issue. Found

4:06

out why it was a mad tower issue. Him

4:09

and Art are getting along great. He tells me

4:11

he's still in contact with Art to this day.

4:13

It didn't affect their friendship actually what ends up

4:15

happening tightens that bond. They're doing their

4:17

thing and they're two peas in a pod. It's like

4:20

they were best friends forever and some

4:22

people you just meet and you could

4:24

just talk to them about anything or

4:26

whatever and there's no uncomfortable silences. They're

4:29

doing their thing and he's getting some things

4:31

laid out. He's finding where some tools are

4:33

that was left there for this particular job

4:35

and just logistical stuff. Going to his little

4:38

checklist. He gets

4:40

there at midday. All this transpired and

4:42

then he's ready to call it a

4:44

night. He's jet-legged. He's beat up. He's

4:46

fresh to Alaska. He's got mosquito bites

4:48

he's dealing with and it's

4:50

not getting dark out. He

4:53

said he's never been anywhere to where

4:55

there's sunlight still on the horizon at

4:57

10 p.m. I said welcome to

4:59

Alaska. So he's figuring

5:01

out how he's going to black out something. He

5:03

ended up putting a towel over his hat so

5:05

it could give him some kind

5:07

of dull the bright light right. He's just

5:10

totally not used to it. Art was on

5:12

the floor on his little pallet snoring away

5:14

at 9.30. It didn't bother Art whatsoever. He's

5:16

from further north where it stays lighter longer.

5:18

He's trying his best to fall asleep and

5:21

he's feeling off. He's

5:23

feeling like there's just something not right

5:25

about the situation. So he's in his

5:27

mind. He's playing back five years. It's

5:29

still not built and in five

5:32

years what I'm seeing done so far it

5:34

should have been knocked out in one season.

5:36

He's an experienced finished carpenter. He knows the

5:38

business and I get it. I'm a carpenter

5:40

myself and build custom homes. It only takes

5:42

so long otherwise they're milking you and those

5:44

guys don't last long. So he was chalking

5:46

it up to a bunch of zeros that

5:49

don't know shit. Couldn't figure out a 5'12

5:51

pitch to save their life. Had

5:53

been coming out here and now I got

5:55

to pick up the pieces and finish this

5:57

job. Comforting himself because something's off about the

5:59

whole thing. As he's had

6:01

time to think about it, nothing's happened. He's

6:04

getting along great with art. Art's a great freaking

6:06

cook. He's still stuffed from the big dinner. Art

6:08

made some salmon and some rice. He said it

6:10

was delicious. So he's

6:13

just going over it, getting a little excited. Yes,

6:15

I'm going to make a good chunk of change

6:17

with this but there's something weighing on him. He

6:20

just can't put his finger on what's off.

6:23

And so he decides he needs to relieve himself

6:25

and plus he wants to have a cigarette, try

6:27

to, you know, and shut him down for the

6:29

day. So he goes and relieves himself and he's

6:31

sitting on the porch. What's the

6:34

porch at the moment, which was basically

6:36

a couple 55 gallon drums, a board

6:38

on it from Lean 2 Stuff, basically

6:41

some big wampy thick ass snaps

6:43

is what he called it. But it was there and

6:45

he was just making use of it. So he sat

6:47

on the board across the two drums. There

6:50

were fuel drums for the plane that flies

6:52

in and out. This is on a small

6:54

lake. They flew in on a Super Cub

6:56

on platoons. It was

6:58

just big enough for that Super Cub

7:00

to take off and land. And if the wind

7:02

was bad, he'd have to wait till the wind

7:04

shifted before he can, you know, make a run

7:06

of it because it was only long one way.

7:09

He couldn't take off into the wind in any

7:11

direction, any pilots know what I'm talking about. So

7:14

he just checked in the scene and it dawns

7:16

on him what's bothering him. There

7:18

hasn't been a bird shirt. There

7:21

hasn't been a squirrel chatter. There hasn't

7:23

been no movement whatsoever outside of him

7:25

and Art. And he's like, why?

7:28

We're in remote Alaska. Why

7:31

is there not birds and bees? It's

7:33

daylight. Wherever these things happen. He puts

7:35

his thumb on what's been bothering the

7:37

dead silence, right? So he's

7:39

like, okay, well, maybe there's a bear

7:41

in the area. He did a little bit of research.

7:43

He wanted to know what he was getting into, coastal

7:45

brown bears, all that. Most people look at because that's

7:47

the main thing you're going to worry about in Alaska

7:49

is bears. He circles around the cabin

7:51

a few times. He's kind of chain smoking at this

7:54

moment because something's still not right.

7:56

He figured out what's been bothering him, but

7:58

it hasn't given him any piece of mind,

8:00

right? So as he's walking around

8:02

on his like third lap around and on like

8:04

his fourth cigarette because he would stop periodically or

8:06

whatever, he's like, I need to slow down my

8:09

smoking, I'm gonna run low on supplies and this

8:11

cart may get last me the time I'm here.

8:14

So he's finishing up the last one as

8:16

he comes around and he doesn't even notice

8:18

that Art had been staring on the porch,

8:20

staring off across the pond, that's right out

8:22

in front of him, the

8:24

last two laps he did. When he

8:26

realizes Art's there, he goes, hey, did

8:29

I wake you? And he goes, no. And he points

8:31

and he points across the pond as he turns

8:33

and looks, he doesn't see anything at first. He

8:35

goes, what are we looking at? And he goes, look.

8:38

And he's giving him a look like, just

8:41

look and watch. And Art's being

8:43

just deadpan, looking

8:45

in that direction. So he looks and then he

8:48

turns, gets underneath Art to look in the

8:50

same direction because Art's holding out his hand. And

8:52

then he sees this dark silhouette that's

8:54

slightly coming out from behind the trees,

8:57

looking, doing this number and then going

8:59

back in. And it was doing it

9:01

from both sides of the day. It looked like

9:03

a group of three or four trees offset from

9:05

each other. So it looked like a bunch of

9:07

trees, but there was obviously space between them. So

9:09

this thing was coming out this side looking and

9:11

then coming out the other side looking after

9:14

a short pause in between and it

9:16

would alternate each time to a different side.

9:18

So they're both hypnotized by what the hell

9:20

is that? Bigfoot, Harry

9:22

man. He came out from California, which

9:24

he's seen in the Patterson Gimlin film.

9:26

He was aware of the Bigfooting and

9:28

discovering Bigfoot and all that. Oh,

9:31

and by the way, this was almost 10

9:33

years ago that this went down. They're in

9:36

shock. They're seeing it, but it's not registering

9:38

exactly what's going on with this freaking

9:40

Harry man peeking around the tree. And

9:42

so he turns to Art and he goes, what

9:45

is that? Art's mad. It's the Harry man. It's

9:47

not good. This cabin had no door knob in

9:49

it yet. They just push a board against

9:51

it to keep the door shut. Cause in

9:53

essence, there's no stairs for a bear

9:56

to come up. They'd hear it, try and climb up the barrels.

9:58

If it was trying to get in the door. type

10:00

of thing. Security pops

10:02

in his head. He wants to be safe. He

10:04

didn't have any firearms of his own but

10:07

the pilot had brought

10:09

in under instruction from the owner,

10:11

owner of the owner's shotguns in

10:14

a case with a bunch

10:16

of buckshot and slugs. Just

10:18

a camp bear gun is what the owner said

10:20

and the pilot had in the case. He didn't

10:22

even open the case. Art had his own rifle.

10:25

Art had a .30-06. Open sights.

10:28

He had his own protection. So he's

10:31

trying to figure out where my art's not

10:33

freaking out because art's up on the deck

10:35

or the you know what's there of the

10:37

deck and Jeff is going back and

10:40

forth looking up at art like, hey what

10:42

are we doing? We're going to move out of my way

10:44

so I can get up and get that shotgun. He goes

10:46

don't get a gun. Art says don't get a gun. We

10:48

don't want a gun. So just get out

10:51

of my way. I want the gun to do. Snap

10:53

out of it. This thing is right over there. That

10:55

kind of deal and I understand. He

10:57

pushes away past art and art's like you're making

10:59

a mistake. Don't start shooting at it. It's over

11:01

there. It's just checking us out. Don't worry. It'll

11:03

leave. He kept saying that over and

11:05

over. It'll leave and then he walks back into the

11:07

cabin behind Jeff as Jeff's popping this thing open loading

11:09

up the shotgun. He loads it

11:11

up. He doesn't look at what shells he's using.

11:13

He just loads it up. The buckshot and slug

11:16

can't go wrong either way, right? So

11:18

he loads up the five rounds, pumps it,

11:20

throws in a sixth round. Goes

11:23

back out on the deck and he's looking

11:25

back over into that shadow spot to where

11:27

the movement was going on. Now this is

11:29

at the 10 o'clock at night so it's

11:31

not getting dark but it's getting darker so

11:33

everything in the tree line underneath the foliage

11:35

of the tree it's almost

11:37

pitch black. If there's a gap in

11:39

between the trees with light behind it,

11:41

it's because of the sun still on

11:43

the backside of it. It's basically a

11:45

black silhouetted mass underneath the trees at

11:48

this point. He gets down and he

11:50

starts walking towards the pond to hook and

11:52

follow the little trail around. He Wasn't

11:55

feeling anything honest other than this weird thing.

11:57

So I'm gonna go check it out. Wanted

12:00

to find out. So. He does walk

12:02

around this little cat that wraps a whole

12:04

pond. And he gets over by

12:06

that spot and he's working and he's realizing way.

12:09

The. Script decreases lot bigger than than Alice

12:11

from back over there. Missing.

12:13

Handed many terrorists foot tall

12:15

Estonian on the overall holy

12:18

shit dissing best. So.

12:20

Immediately he was a happy with his decision

12:22

So he says back then with rights and

12:24

just. Give. The hell out of there. Is

12:27

back over by the force and at this point

12:29

when he gets to the porch aren't smoking a

12:31

cigarette? Sept. Thirty Six phone against

12:33

the wall and is still up on

12:35

elevated death. Just. Us or join

12:37

them with the cigarettes as shut them down. In.

12:40

Art starts explaining to her death what

12:42

he believes is it's just curious he

12:44

seen it before of near fair banks

12:46

or wherever he was from. They typically

12:48

will watch stuff probably end up screaming

12:50

and dress of stuff. But.

12:53

Art. Said he was paid attention and didn't appear

12:55

there was a others with. He. Figured

12:57

it was just on loan. Young in don't

12:59

about his own way and was this theory

13:01

someone's gonna over there talk an art had

13:03

com jeff down. And. Or didn't

13:06

care of, just calm down know he was the

13:08

stating myself. He was a matter of fact Mattis

13:10

and he and his dad is one interrupting the

13:12

net Gave Jeff. Relative sense

13:14

of peace Because this native Alaskan is and.

13:17

Worked. Up so I need to calm down. And

13:19

follow his lead. He's from here. He knows what he's

13:21

talking. not as nice. As more knowledge than

13:23

I do. So. He. Accepts

13:26

what's going on and just cause our.

13:28

Our. Brings up hey, there's still plenty of

13:30

left overs with kids that eaten up. And.

13:33

Relax inside. So. That way

13:35

when I have a much access to garbage. He

13:38

didn't want us to create an issue by have

13:40

an extra food garbage over and the burnt his.

13:42

To. Potentially bring him already sinks they wanted

13:44

nothing to do it that together to good

13:46

idea. I'm still hungry and nothing bad has

13:49

happened. This seems dissuade between some trees and

13:51

they didn't really get a full on look

13:53

at her eyes so it was easy to

13:55

compartmentalize and is going to eat. And

13:57

that's what they did and still light out damning

13:59

as. That point, a New Year, it didn't really

14:01

gets dark all night. Bows. Mean

14:04

like does with no sign on the rise

14:06

and like when you i just the trees

14:08

were dark to snare silhouetted stay he they

14:10

get done. He. Goes back our such

14:12

as smoking other cigarette with our. Our.

14:14

At this point as a stack jonathan he likes

14:17

his guy hitting give a shit and Jeff's mouth

14:19

and smoke didn't matter to our. He. Was

14:21

in a smoke and do be. As

14:23

are smokers. Is trying to tell

14:25

Jeff a ban experience he had. He

14:28

said he was with some indians s both. Which.

14:30

Sooner submarines that I'd off. He didn't remember

14:32

exactly what remote village it is but it

14:35

was on the border on the Yukon river

14:37

between Canada and Alaska. There was some small

14:39

village in that area worth this incident are

14:42

does explain to him half as and he

14:44

told him that in this incident that happened.

14:47

Victories. Was curious it had stole

14:49

something out of the smokehouse. There was

14:51

a rabbit quarters or something never been

14:53

14:55

as looking for food. And thus there

15:07

on the reference they have rights. they assume

15:09

nothing bad was gonna happen with this. He

15:11

presses, nothing has and so as are sitting

15:13

there disgusting that are smoking way on his

15:15

do be. And he gets

15:17

about halfway done. And. Realizes

15:20

hand offer. Just say yes to do not.

15:22

Part of this ends and just now by

15:24

I'm paranoid enough right now. Maybe another time

15:26

17:25

He joins them inside. They're chopping it up a little bit. And

17:28

the guy that hired Jeff had sent

17:30

out some R&R whiskey and a couple

17:32

other adult beverages. Some Jack Daniels just

17:34

as a selection for after the work

17:36

day for the boss man. He's got

17:39

you some liquor. And he realizes

17:41

it and Art points it out. And there's some

17:43

Jack or whatever over there if you'd like a

17:45

nightcap or whatever. He goes over

17:47

and he gets his little glass and there was

17:49

still some unmelted ice in the cooler. When Art

17:51

came in with the food supplies and stuff, there

17:53

was still left in there. So Jeff scoops some

17:55

ice out. Had a little whiskey on the

17:57

rocks and he's sipping a little bit and he wants another

17:59

shake. He's just going to stand on

18:01

the porch. He felt no need to take

18:03

a gun with him and Art's laid out

18:06

on his old pallet and is about to fall

18:08

asleep. So, just I'll be quiet. I'm going to

18:10

smoke a cigarette and I'll call it a night

18:12

after that. Art's just, yeah, whatever, dude. Do your

18:14

thing. I'm not worried about it. Art was ripped

18:16

and you was ready to lay down. Jeff

18:18

goes out on the porch, closes it

18:21

because there's this hole where the door knob should be

18:23

that they put in yet. So he just sticks his

18:25

finger in it and pulls it shut. It

18:27

wasn't exactly a good fit, but the door just

18:30

kicked open just a little bit because there's

18:32

no knob to hold any place. So

18:34

he's standing there, he's smoking a cigarette and on

18:36

the short little piece of railing that's existing at

18:39

this point, he sets his glass on and he

18:41

sets it from it every couple of hours off

18:43

to smoke. While he's sitting

18:45

on it, there was pieces of

18:47

plastic on the ground around this work area

18:50

from where they were doing the vapor barrier.

18:52

He kept seeing movement out

18:54

of the corner of his right eye, but

18:57

he had seen it earlier too because there's

18:59

some plastic that would gently move in the

19:01

wind. It didn't concern him, this movement. So

19:03

he reaches over shortly after that he sees

19:06

the movement or whatever and he's taking a

19:08

drink of the whiskey and the movement catches

19:10

his eye again, but that movement was

19:13

this hairy man stepping right out in the view

19:15

10 feet away from him, almost eye to eye

19:17

with him without fault it

19:19

was and just giving him a

19:22

deadpan stare like, what are you

19:24

doing here? Not in a threatening way.

19:26

It wasn't, I'm not going to eat you. It

19:28

was just deadpan. What are you doing here? That

19:31

kind of thing. He said he

19:33

was so startled. He dropped his drink.

19:35

He burned his hand because he had the cigarette

19:38

and it was basically one of these numbers and

19:40

he's trying to get the burning ember off that

19:42

stuck to his wrist and he's

19:44

stumbling backwards. He falls into the door. Backwards,

19:47

they sound like a dog barking saying, Art, so

19:49

fast. Art heard the commotion

19:51

and looked and then saw him fall back

19:53

in the door. So at this point, Art

19:55

was already standing up and using his rifle

19:57

to get stood up and as Art did.

20:00

Jeff said he was laying on his back looking

20:02

out the door when this thing stepped in the

20:04

full view in front of him and just leaned

20:06

into like by the rail was about here

20:08

and it just leaned and looked at him

20:11

again and then walked off. Oh,

20:13

good God. I didn't shoot. Dude's

20:16

freaked. He's like, what is that? And he

20:18

goes, this is a hairy man. He goes, dude, that's a

20:20

monster. Jeff is freaking. He said he ain't

20:23

never seen a real life monster in his life until

20:25

that day and he said a hairy man in Bolshia

20:27

was a monster. He said this

20:29

thing was a monster. His words. I'm

20:31

trying to reconvey his emotional state when he

20:33

was reliving it with me. He

20:36

shuts the door. He's trying to pack shit in front

20:38

of this door, right? And I said, well, it rest.

20:41

It was just basically our arts

20:43

trying to appease him is what he's doing because

20:45

he was just bullshit and I'm

20:47

like, he says, no, he wanted peace.

20:49

If he didn't want peace, he

20:51

would have killed you. Right. And just said it just like

20:53

that. So so just what do you mean? It would have

20:55

just killed me. He's looking for explanations

20:58

as arts just giving him crimes of

21:00

nothing. And he laughs when he was telling

21:02

me this. He goes, I wanted to choke art. He

21:04

was like, hey, look, you dumb stoner.

21:07

Tell me something. Tell me something that makes

21:09

sense. Right. And he's calling art names, calling

21:11

a dumb stoner. You're worthless. Want to be

21:14

hippie. An artist is standard looking at him

21:16

like I am. OK. OK.

21:19

Fair enough. Whatever, man. Art

21:21

was unfazed. He was unshuffed by it

21:23

and just losing his shit. Right. Fair

21:26

enough. The thing was looking at him

21:28

in the eye and he felt like it was

21:30

trying to let him know he's watching him. Not

21:34

art. Him. So Jeff's got that feeling

21:37

and he's wide awake. Wide

21:39

awake. He's over in the corner. He's

21:42

got shotgun next to him and he's got open

21:44

bottle of Jack and he's double

21:46

bubble in it as he put it.

21:48

Double bubble every time

21:50

in the cadence of every 15,

21:52

20 seconds trying to calm down.

21:54

He was literally shaking so hard

21:56

he barely being his own skin

21:59

because it was so. traumatizing to him to

22:01

have this thing just step out, look at

22:03

him, he falls down and then it walks

22:05

off. Holy shit. But it

22:07

didn't do anything. It wasn't aggressive in

22:09

any way. It just made itself known.

22:11

I was happy to hear this experience

22:14

because you've seen the videos. He calms

22:16

himself down and he gets drunk. So

22:18

he's into this sloppy, sobby drug stuff and

22:21

starts telling him, look, go to

22:23

sleep. It left. I watched it

22:25

while you're freaking out, drink it. It walked and

22:27

went around the other side of the farm and

22:30

walked away. I saw it disappear into

22:32

the horizon. It left. Jeff

22:34

apologizes to Art about calling him a dumb

22:37

stoner and the various other things he

22:39

said in the moment. Art was like, hey, I know if

22:41

I'm no foul, you were shook up. It

22:43

happens. I was shook up too. The first time it

22:45

happened to me, I stayed dropped for three days and

22:48

thanks calmed down. Once Jeff accepted this

22:51

was going on because initially it was like this

22:53

ain't happening, this ain't happening. They calmed down. He

22:56

ends up falling asleep, wakes up the

22:58

next day, goes out over

23:00

the porch, is smoking a cigarette, is

23:02

collecting his thoughts about what had transpired

23:04

the day before. Art was already up

23:06

outside in the little cooking area. They

23:08

had set up or had breakfast ready,

23:10

coffee ready. Art was on his business,

23:12

right? So he jumps down a

23:14

little barrel of things and tells

23:17

himself, I'm gonna get those stairs in

23:19

today because this barrel of bullshit on over

23:21

it and he still got the hairy man

23:23

on his mind that walked away. So he's

23:25

sitting there. Art hands him his place.

23:27

Oh, you're hardly good here. Eat up. I mean a lot.

23:29

I figured you'd be hungry. He slept in pretty good. It's

23:31

almost 11 o'clock and

23:34

Jeff's all shit. Days half over kind of thing

23:36

for us. Karthman as we start early 7 a.m.

23:38

and 12, 6, 7 a.m. He's feeling bad for

23:41

oversleeping but circumstances he forgives himself. So

23:43

he's eating this meal and oh man,

23:46

it was so good. Halfway through the

23:48

meal, Art comes and sits directly across

23:50

the month. He's drinking coffee and smoking

23:52

a cigarette and he goes, oh, the

23:55

hairy man's back. Just naturally drinking

23:57

his coffee, right? Jeff, this stuff.

24:00

with his plate and he goes, what the hell are you talking

24:02

about? It's back. And immediately he drops the plate on the ground,

24:04

stands up, is looking all around, runs,

24:06

gets back in there, grabs the shotgun,

24:09

comes back out, and Art was

24:11

like, calm down. I got the rifle right there. Calm

24:13

down. He said, it came back.

24:16

It circled the ramen once while we were

24:18

sleeping. It looked in the window once. I

24:20

made eye contact with it, said,

24:22

Chamai. And it left. He

24:25

goes, I said hello to it. It left. Said,

24:27

Chamai, it's gone. We got nothing else

24:29

to worry about, right? Just screw

24:31

you, dude. Why are you so calm? There

24:34

was a monster frickin' running around here. And you're

24:36

just like, yeah, I said hi to it. And

24:38

they left. No big deal, whatever. And

24:41

that was Art's attitude. Nonchalant didn't do nothing.

24:43

It was just like, oh, it moves across

24:45

the yard. It moves across the grid. There

24:47

was nothing. What that going

24:49

on, Jeff, is at a boiling point

24:51

of confusion on, he's talking what to

24:53

do. He's borderline wants Art

24:55

to make the satellite call or the

24:58

BHF call, whatever line of communications they

25:00

had set up. I think it was

25:02

an antenna of BHF. So

25:04

he wanted him to radio for a plane

25:07

to get him the hell out of there. He

25:09

didn't care how much money he was getting paid. He

25:11

goes, Art, calm down. The owner is going to be

25:13

flying in this afternoon. We'll discuss it

25:15

with him. If you still want to

25:17

go, then I'm sure the plane, it'll be right

25:19

here anyway. There's no need to emergency call. They're

25:21

going to be here anyway. It's good weather. They're

25:24

going to fly. Jeff, calm down. OK, I'm going

25:26

to ask the owner what the, you and

25:29

yet you get ready to give him both girls

25:31

with shit. Then he goes on

25:33

and the plane ain't coming yet. Now

25:35

it's getting on 5, 6 p.m. and

25:37

Jeff's normally used to California daylight

25:40

to where 6, 7

25:42

p.m. is nighttime. It's getting dark,

25:45

not Alaska. So he doesn't even realize

25:47

it's 6 or 7. So by the

25:49

time he starts complaining, it's already

25:51

9 p.m. and they hear the plane

25:53

coming. So in Jeff's mind

25:55

with all the daylight, it's been

25:58

a very long day. Why has it been? midday

26:00

so long to think. So

26:02

in his mind's eye, Jeff thinks it's six

26:04

or seven-ish. It's actually going

26:06

on nine, closer to ten or

26:09

whatever when I see the plane circling around, checked

26:11

the wind, the little wind sock that has set

26:13

up and came on and landed. Here

26:16

comes the owner. Really nice guy.

26:18

He's only talked to him on the phone

26:20

and via email. They've only

26:22

had limited conversation. Teleconference, that's what

26:24

it was between the owner,

26:26

his wife and Jeff. That's what it was,

26:28

teleconference. This was damn near a decade ago.

26:30

So they didn't have all the little fancy

26:32

apps we have now. Guy gets

26:34

there saying, hey, how you liking it? Jeff's

26:37

immediately, look man, there's a monster running around

26:39

here. Art don't give

26:41

a shit. It doesn't bother him. One iota.

26:44

It bothers me. I need

26:46

to go. Owner's a thumbnail. That

26:48

thing's been around for years. It hasn't hurt

26:50

anyone. It keeps scaring people off the

26:53

job. I need this done. It doesn't

26:55

do anything. It doesn't hurt nobody. It

26:58

merely comes around, checks it out,

27:00

hasn't broke, hurt or done anything in

27:03

five years. Jeff's, I don't give

27:05

a shit. I don't care. It's

27:07

a monster. I want out of here. Goes

27:10

back and forth with the owner. The owner

27:12

offers another substantial amount of money because

27:14

he really liked Jeff's work. His portfolio was

27:16

on point with his interior finish work and

27:18

the guy really liked it. So he kept

27:21

bumping up the offer incrementally and Jeff kept

27:23

saying, hell no. If all is

27:25

down to Jeff tells the guy to give back, the

27:27

guy's trying to placate him and just pacify him with

27:30

little things that I'll never heard. No, I've never heard

27:32

no one. Why would I need to tell you something

27:34

is dangerous when I ain't heard no one? Because Jeff's

27:36

saying you lied to me and didn't tell me everything.

27:38

It was heated. Not like a

27:41

full blown argument, but Jeff was

27:43

giving him a piece of his mind and he felt

27:45

lied to. And in essence, he

27:47

was a little bit, he wasn't fully

27:49

informed. Anyway, he basically clicked on the

27:51

spot and the owner

27:54

happened to be the one

27:56

piloting the plane that day. So

27:59

it didn't even. dawn on him that

28:01

there was no pilot but it was

28:04

just the owner and the owner had brought

28:06

someone with him, some associate of some kind

28:08

that was looking potentially buy land from the

28:10

owner that was adjacent to this place. He

28:12

was multitasking, he was being the pilot that

28:14

day, gonna show some property and then check

28:17

on his new employees. Anyway,

28:19

it then once dawned out Jeff that the

28:21

owner is the pilot, he changed

28:23

his attitude because he wanted to fly out and

28:26

the products are the owner is I

28:28

wasn't flying out tonight I

28:30

wasn't flying out tonight we need to stay

28:33

the night there's a weather system coming in

28:35

and it's probably hitting keen eye now working

28:37

this way so we may not even get

28:39

out tomorrow so call him down.

28:42

We're all here Jeff's not hearing any of it he

28:44

goes I already quit don't expect me to lift the

28:46

tool guys know it's fine and Jeff I

28:48

still don't have the money you lied to me the guys look

28:51

you're covered don't worry we'll

28:54

make that happen we can ride it out

28:56

this evening just calm down now

28:59

that you're not working for me we're just friends here or

29:01

acquaintances we're just gonna get

29:04

through the night no harm no foul so

29:06

the owner knocks one out on his leaves with his

29:08

little associate he's gone gushed on this other piece of

29:10

the property too and they're gone

29:12

they're gone for it's not fully dark that

29:14

time of year but they do see the

29:16

clouds moving towards them. Jeff and are already

29:18

inside he had dinner he's calmed down about

29:20

the situation but he's resolute he's out of

29:22

here he don't give a crap so

29:25

they're sitting down there wondering where

29:27

these guys at maybe we should go look so yeah

29:30

I'm gonna grab the rifle you go ahead and

29:32

wait here you already worked up I'll go in

29:34

I'll go and track them down so

29:36

Art leaves about 15 minutes

29:39

later he hears the voices talking so he

29:41

assumes it's them coming back from where

29:43

they were so it's going along

29:45

and he's what are they talking about because he

29:47

was hearing some kind of gibberish that wasn't making

29:49

sense and he goes are they arguing so he

29:51

goes out onto the porch and he

29:53

looks in the direction where the trail leads to the back

29:55

side of the property where they were sharding it And

29:58

he sees two dark figures. Up by the

30:00

side the trees. But as silhouetted to

30:02

where he kept. so what the hell buddy

30:05

keep really realize it was big. Whatever. These

30:07

two things for a big making these noises

30:09

and screw that that. Grabs

30:11

as shocked as wings. A couple shots in

30:13

the air. And does

30:15

things disappear and the trees does

30:18

snow leaps. Mona. Slayer.

30:21

Are. The owner and his daughters

30:23

associates can barely enough to pass.

30:25

The associate had a Slow Harrys

30:27

an innocent looking my James Bond

30:29

so. They. Get their news. They

30:31

were right there. You guys ran right past him and

30:33

they're like we saw them. Tuck, they didn't mean us

30:36

anymore and Jeff wasn't having any of it. Didn't believe

30:38

is. He. Goes You just stand there unless

30:40

he sings. I went out here for sing them

30:42

are care with the weather is. An

30:45

hour as whoa. Calm down. So. Things

30:47

calm down from that. A genocide.

30:49

Saturday. Morning. Klaus.

30:52

The showers and past overnight it was

30:54

beautiful the next morning when he opened

30:56

his eyes or thirties be are a

30:59

as. The. Sun was already out, And

31:01

it was beautiful. There's birds chirp First

31:03

time you've been there can be they

31:06

see was there that he heard birds

31:08

chirp, a squirrel shattering. He heard the

31:10

ravens in the background. By law doesn't

31:12

burn case and everything stealth right. He

31:14

felt better. He felt like that presence

31:16

that had been around for days is

31:18

is now not. Pose.

31:21

As the owner gets up of our

31:23

speeds every by. And. The

31:25

associate stays with our. And

31:27
