This is Sex Lies and Spray Tands

0:03

with Me Cheryl Burke and iHeartRadio

0:05

podcast. Hey, welcome back

0:08

to Sex Lies and Spray Tans. Today

0:10

we're peeling back the curtain on a star who

0:12

first captured our hearts as the mischievous

0:15

younger brother on a popular family sitcom

0:17

that kept us laughing through the early two thousands.

0:21

Since then, he's grown up right before our eyes,

0:23

transitioning from a child star to a multi

0:25

talented performer from That's So Raven

0:27

to his own spinoff that was

0:29

called Cory in the House. But it's

0:32

not just his acting chops that have made

0:34

headlines people. He also made

0:36

quite the impression on the dance floor, pairing

0:39

up with the incredibly talented Lacey

0:41

Shwimmer in the eleventh season

0:43

of Dancing with the Stars, who placed second and

0:46

was an undeniable fan favorite.

0:48

Please welcome to the podcast,

0:51

Kyle, Massy Kyle,

0:54

it's been so long, No.

0:56

Man, it's been so long. So good to see Cheryl,

0:59

so good to see you.

1:00

I'm so happy for you and your beautiful

1:02

home. I just got a mini tour. This

1:05

show is dedicated to Dancing with the Stars

1:07

all things, so we're going to get down and dirty. Are you ready?

1:10

I'm ready what you got for me?

1:12

I heard you say that you thought Dancing with the

1:14

Stars was rigged? Is this a true fact?

1:19

You know what?

1:20

I always don't want you backpedal, So

1:24

look.

1:24

All I would say is that in my season, you

1:27

know, one of the other contestants

1:30

had.

1:30

A mishap and Jennifer

1:33

Gray, Yeah.

1:34

In the finale, and because

1:38

you know, my mom lives on the East Coast, and

1:40

the East Coast Live is really

1:42

actually live, and then the West Coast was

1:44

like a recording of that live that's

1:46

edited. So yeah,

1:50

so the East Coast, the mishap

1:52

was there, and then on West Coast

1:54

it was a clean performance.

1:55

It was edited out perfect tens

1:57

and I was just.

1:58

Like, wait, what was it? You're gonna

2:00

have to say more? What was edited out?

2:03

Well, it was like a misstep, like like basically

2:05

like a little trip, you know, like when you trip,

2:07

but you don't actually like fall.

2:09

It's like a stumble. It's more of a misstep.

2:11

But by the time we would finish the press and

2:14

by the time we would get to whatever restaurant or stuff

2:16

we would go to, I watched it and it

2:18

was not there at all, and I

2:20

was just like, damn, that's crazy.

2:22

So are you saying they changed the camera angles?

2:25

You know, I'm saying that they completely edited

2:27

it out of the entire thing. It didn't

2:29

exist on feed. I

2:31

don't know. I think maybe they just like cut to something

2:33

else, like they cut to a different shot.

2:36

That's not with you. That's what Derek and Jennifer, that's

2:38

what you're saying.

2:38

Yeah, yeah, but it's just like it was only

2:41

in the East Coast feet so if you didn't watch

2:43

it live on the East Coast, you never

2:45

even knew it happened.

2:46

For sure, this is a fact. You're saying, this

2:48

is a fact.

2:49

Yeah, it was crazy.

2:50

I just couldn't believe that they did that, Like, you know, that was

2:52

my first flag at slag.

2:54

Okay, but I do think that the show is you

2:56

know, it's fair.

2:58

No, for sure, Kyle,

3:03

you're killing me, killing me listen,

3:06

But like, first, this is a fact,

3:08

Like if I were to find the footage, you

3:11

like, you actually this is true.

3:14

Yeah, no, it's.

3:14

It's crazy and a lot of people didn't believe us.

3:16

But back in the day, you know, we had it

3:19

on what was it called Deep dbr

3:21

pvo or whatever it was back then, but

3:23

we had it like we were. We watched the

3:25

Misstep in real time with ABC

3:28

logo everything. At

3:30

the end of the day, like I am proud of

3:33

Jim friend Derek, Like they did a great

3:35

job and not deathing away

3:37

from their their wing, you know.

3:38

And she was like pain, wasn't she like sleeping

3:41

for her?

3:41

Yeah? She was going

3:44

through a lot of stuff and a lot of you

3:46

know, physical struggles and stuff.

3:48

So you know, I would never take

3:50

anything away from them.

3:51

They killed it.

3:52

They deserve that.

3:53

Dumb and they got it.

3:54

Honestly, Kyle, I thought you killed it. Like I've

3:56

had Lacey on here a few times and you

3:58

haven't seen her in just as long as I have seen you in

4:00

person. But she

4:02

said that out of all her partners, obviously, she's

4:05

the one that you guys keep in touch the

4:07

most.

4:07

Yeah, yeah, we do.

4:09

How was your first of all you

4:11

did the show season eleven? Had you watched

4:13

the show or was it? I wanna just be one

4:15

hundred percent please do.

4:17

When I got that, when I got the offer to do Dance with

4:20

the Stars, I had never seen one episode

4:22

of that show. You never want, not one

4:24

episode, like never once. I

4:26

had no idea that Kim Kardashian was on

4:28

the show or any of those people.

4:30

Knew nothing about.

4:32

It, nothing about ballroom dancing. You had

4:34

no idea zero and

4:37

heard Dancing with the Stars. Never heard it.

4:39

It was not on my radar, Like if

4:42

I that show, I was not

4:44

their demographic.

4:45

You know, definitely not.

4:46

No, I just wasn't. So I didn't know anything

4:49

about it. So it got to the point where the producers

4:51

actually had to send me episodes before

4:54

I actually said yes to doing the show,

4:56

Like I was like, what does it even look like?

4:58

Like what is it?

4:59

You know?

5:00

I like that had to like.

5:00

Explain it to me visually

5:03

and send me videos of celebrities.

5:05

Dancing, So why did you do

5:07

it? Then?

5:09

I really did Dance with the Stars just

5:12

because, like I just wanted

5:14

to do something different, you know, just

5:16

something that was out of my comfort

5:18

zone. And my mom was extremely

5:22

instrumental in convincing me to do

5:24

it, you know, because I was really ready

5:26

to pass on it, you know, and my mom

5:29

just said, like Kyle, like just

5:32

commit and do your best. She's

5:34

like, you are great at learning things,

5:37

And I was like, yeah, but I don't know, I've

5:39

never danced ever, like, you know,

5:41

I danced in the Underdog music video

5:44

like I did when I did the theme song

5:46

for Underdog the movie. I did a video for

5:48

it that was like the only time I really had choreography

5:50

ever.

5:51

Really, Kyle, because you seem like a it seems

5:53

so natural for you though, Well, it's.

5:55

Because when I really set my mind or something, I'm

5:59

most likely going to master

6:01

it. If, like god willing,

6:04

I'm gonna give it one thousand percent no

6:06

matter what. And usually if you if

6:08

you truly give anything

6:10

a thousand percent, you may

6:13

not be the best person to ever do that

6:15

thing, but you are definitely gonna be

6:18

great compared to where you started.

6:20

So what would that entail for you? Did you

6:22

guys rehearse long hours or what was it

6:25

like?

6:25

You know what? Actually, Lacey

6:27

would tell you. I didn't even have to, you

6:30

know, we did a few long hours in the beginning,

6:32

Like starting out, what is it like

6:34

a week before we actually started, It's.

6:37

A few weeks. I think back then it was like two weeks.

6:39

I don't know what it was.

6:40

But during that time

6:42

we were really doing long hours. We do like

6:44

you know, eight hour days, twelve hour days. Well

6:47

then as this as the show

6:49

was progressing, and Lacey kind

6:51

of learned the rate that

6:53

I was learning at. Like once she learned

6:56

like how fast I could pick up a staff,

6:58

and she learned how to teach me. I

7:00

never felt like she was like yelling

7:02

at me, you know, like how I heard like a lot of the

7:05

other contestants felt like, you know, their

7:07

trainers were like you know, oh they

7:09

were rude. Yeah, if

7:11

you thought you was crazy.

7:13

Who was I dancing with that season?

7:16

Rick Fox? Rick Fox, Rick

7:19

Fox?

7:19

Yeah, that guy as tall as a mother?

7:22

Ye six seven? This

7:24

pair him with the girl that's five four? Please, Let's

7:26

just that's great.

7:27

You did? You did? That just goes to show how great of

7:29

a dance teacher you really are. Like, you know, I gained

7:31

a lot of respect for dance

7:34

teachers after dancing, you

7:36

know, because I really was like thinking

7:39

about, like, wow, you guys really come up

7:41

with this entire routine I I

7:44

and teach someone that's trash.

7:47

The thing is with you, Kyle, it was almost

7:49

like I don't know if it's

7:51

because like you are, you are young,

7:53

and you were very young back then that there

7:56

was no fear behind you know, like you were

7:58

like a second guest sing or like

8:00

overthinking anything, And I think

8:02

that's the problem with some people,

8:05

especially actors that are older, that

8:07

are not used to like they're scared to show

8:09

themselves, like or maybe they don't even know who they are,

8:11

you.

8:12

Know, No, that's true. I mean honestly, I

8:14

would just test that to just kind of just how I grew

8:16

up. Like I grew up.

8:18

In front of the camera.

8:20

Like I know a lot of people have grown up like

8:22

in the industry, but like I

8:24

literally grew up in front

8:27

of the camera, and like I always

8:29

had to be ready to work. Nothing mattered

8:31

when they said action. I had to know my

8:33

lines and there was no I'm

8:35

sorry, that was good enough.

8:37

It was like no it.

8:38

I didn't realize how prepared I was to Dancing

8:40

with the Stars because

8:43

of.

8:43

The way that I grew up.

8:44

You know, I grew up like having to

8:46

you know, do a live episode of Corey in the House

8:48

in front of two hundred live audience and

8:52

growing up on Nassaraven doing live audience

8:54

every Friday, and I had to get my

8:56

lines together and they do rewrites before. So going

8:59

in to Dancing with the Stars, that helped prepare me

9:01

for just like the you know, because Lady would

9:03

always say, are you nervous. I'm like, nah,

9:06

I'm not nervous,

9:08

Like nah, I'm going to go

9:10

out there and give it my best. Though.

9:12

You know, I'm never nervous, not once.

9:14

No, I really don't get nervous. I get

9:16

more nervous like around

9:19

like certain people

9:21

than I do in like big situations, you

9:23

know, like like if I got to perform,

9:26

you know, like like I performed it like

9:28

uh, what was it? High? Times, wrong,

9:31

loud? And we did like at the

9:34

the old Staples Center, and I had no type

9:37

of nerves at all, even like when we did the Las

9:39

Vegas show. But to tell you truly was

9:41

more nerve wracking than the TV I

9:43

would say so, yeah, because because you understand,

9:46

like the thing that makes most people nervous,

9:48

the element of being live on television,

9:50

that wasn't the thing that got me more

9:53

so the people watching live. And just

9:55

like my fellow

9:58

peers that

10:02

yeah, because I've grown

10:05

up ignoring with the audience. Interesting,

10:08

you know, It's never really affected

10:11

me like an audience like a crowd. I

10:13

never get afraid. I more get afraid

10:16

of the fact, like, oh my goodness, my peers

10:18

and other people that do this. If

10:20

I don't commit one hundred percent. They're gonna

10:22

think that I did bad, and that's what I care about,

10:24

and that makes me nervous.

10:25

That's healthy. How about social media nowadays?

10:27

Though, honestly, I'm

10:29

not even on social media. I'm more focused on my

10:32

video game. I'm completely inactive,

10:34

Like I don't post.

10:36

How about TikTok No, I'm

10:38

I'm not on it at all. That's why you

10:40

are a happy person.

10:42

Yeah, And honestly, like, if you really

10:44

think about it, I

10:46

have grown up in front of a camera lens. My

10:48

whole life has been documented, Like if

10:50

you really think about it, Like, my entire life

10:52

since I was seven years old has

10:55

been documented. Everywhere I went. It's been

10:57

photos and videos and appearances and

10:59

all these things. In my thirties, I'm

11:01

like, yo, don't I kind of deserve some privacy,

11:04

absolutely deserves some, you

11:07

know, Like at this point, I'm out, Like

11:10

to yo, I've been famous a

11:13

majority of my life. You know, I'm thirty

11:15

two years old and I've been famous since I was seven.

11:17

So well, maybe I

11:20

don't post for three years? Woo

11:22

to do? You know?

11:23

And has it affected your career at all?

11:26

Well, it depends on what you view as a career, like,

11:29

because my my career now

11:31

is really what I've

11:33

always wanted to do because

11:36

I've been acting before I ever

11:38

wanted to be an actor.

11:40

So as far as my career, you

11:42

know, I have a video game that I just launched.

11:44

You know, my partners that they did

11:46

the designs for Red Dead Redemption

11:49

and Call of Duty, and you know, it's like

11:51

a big awesome game. I'm really proud of it.

11:53

I got a bunch of cool people playing

11:55

the game making some serious money too, like

11:57

if we're gonna wait thirty five thousand this

12:00

month to whoever scores the highest awesome

12:02

game. And also, you

12:05

know, I just took on a role as talent

12:07

acquisitions at this app called Look Who.

12:10

So I'm like producing content for.

12:12

Them, and you know, like directing

12:16

more so producing.

12:17

I'm going to get into something. But

12:19

before I can do direct like I can

12:21

do directing because I've literally grown up.

12:24

I've been directed more

12:26

in my life probably than anyone that you know has.

12:29

Dancing with the stars and getting super directed

12:31

it.

12:31

Was crazy, you mean, like around yeah.

12:34

But you know, like so as far as

12:36

the director, I more want to produce, create

12:39

and bring life right

12:41

now. But I do want to get into directing.

12:44

Sometimes, So are you done acting?

12:46

Then I'm not done

12:48

acting? Like right now I'm in

12:52

the talks for a campaign. It's like a.

12:55

I can't really say the name of it.

12:57

So you're the youngest of you and

13:00

brother? Am I missing any other siblings?

13:02

Brother? So?

13:03

And you're not that much younger.

13:05

But when, like you said, you were born into this, Yeah,

13:08

do you feel like now you're antiet

13:11

because of it?

13:12

I have this conversation with my girlfriend

13:14

all the time because

13:16

you know, her parents are famous musicians

13:19

as well, and I am a famous

13:21

person, and you know, we talk about,

13:23

like, you know, if we have kids,

13:25

like will we let them be famous? Right?

13:29

And so it's this double edged sword

13:31

because how can

13:33

I say no when the

13:37

things that I've experienced in my life because

13:39

of acting in Hollywood have

13:42

been surreal? Like if I told you half the things,

13:44

people wouldn't even believe them, the experiences,

13:47

the trips, the places,

13:49

the people. But I also understand

13:51

that everybody doesn't reach

13:54

the level of success that I've had. Also, you

13:57

know, and and I do know a

13:59

lot of actors and people that

14:01

are upset and are hurt and do

14:03

hate the industry. Because of X

14:06

Y and Z. So that's why I'm

14:08

just grateful that I had the parents that I have, Like Michael

14:10

Massey and Angel Massey just really were great,

14:13

you know, like you know, and a lot of

14:15

times I always I always tell my mom, I'm

14:17

like, yo, you're crazy.

14:22

I was like, Yo, you're crazy.

14:23

I tell my mom and my dad that.

14:24

I was like, it's just like unfathomable,

14:27

like it's like what

14:30

what? But it worked,

14:32

so it's not that crazy, but it

14:34

really is, you know, Like you

14:37

know, it kind of makes me feel like all those kids on American

14:40

Idol that you know, they're like, oh, I drove six hours

14:42

to be in this audition, like you know,

14:44

like they just drove six hours. Imagine

14:46

like packing up and moving. Going

14:49

back to nerves. You know, we were talking about nervous.

14:52

I was extremely

14:55

nervous day

14:58

one when I arrived for the fitting,

15:00

right for the fitting,

15:03

You want me tell you why.

15:04

It's because.

15:07

My mom told me like, oh, you're gonna have to like they're

15:09

gonna have to dress you and like dance clothes.

15:10

I was like, what the hell is dance?

15:14

So immediately I started like looking up dance

15:17

clothes and nothing came back good

15:19

that like little heels, three inch heels

15:21

and like I was

15:23

like, oh my goodness, they got me in heels

15:25

with like velvet at the bottom, Like

15:27

what velvet? Wait,

15:30

you know what it was or something? But I was like what is

15:33

this? But you know, you

15:35

know, my experience was great. You know, everyone was

15:37

really kind. All

15:39

the judges were really sweet. You know, rest

15:43

in peace to lend You.

15:44

Know what

15:53

did you and Lacy bicker at all?

15:55

Yeah? We would, like, you know, fight all the time,

15:57

but not like really fight though, like you know, like

16:00

because you know, I like the way I am. I

16:02

try and keep everything real light. I

16:04

don't like extra dressing, extra

16:06

drama, so I just like

16:09

give me the skinny,

16:12

you know, totally. So we were

16:14

bicker back and forth, but you know the

16:16

only time she would really get on my ass is

16:18

when I

16:21

wasn't learning something that she knew

16:23

that I could pick up, you know, but

16:26

it wasn't always okay for lady.

16:28

She wanted to and I

16:30

would do it though.

16:31

She was a great coach right now, but mind

16:33

you, you were the best answer she's ever had. And

16:35

she says this, which is crazy, which

16:38

is that's so crazy

16:40

to me? Who

16:43

is that exactly all

16:48

right, no, she he

16:50

danced with Lacy. They were the first eliminated.

16:52

Oh damn, my

16:55

season.

16:55

On my season, I'll never forget

16:58

the first episode. So they're

17:01

like, oh, we're about to do the eliminations,

17:04

and they're like, the bottom two are

17:07

Kyle Massey and David Off.

17:10

I'm like, wait, you

17:12

in the bottom too, Kyle.

17:14

The first episode of Somebody's

17:16

Going Home Kyle Massy or David Househof.

17:18

But I'm like, well, that's

17:20

why I didn't want to do the show.

17:22

You're like, Mommy, get over here

17:24

now, thank you.

17:25

I'll call my agent tomorrow morning.

17:28

You really thought you were going to go home?

17:29

For sure? I was up against David.

17:32

Wait, I cannot believe they put you in the bottom

17:34

two.

17:35

Yeah, and I killed.

17:36

That first thing. I got standing ovations from the crowd, and

17:38

they put me in the bottom.

17:39

Are you mad that you didn't do All Stars? So you didn't win

17:41

the vote to do All Stars?

17:43

I wasn't bummed about it at all. You

17:45

know, I was excited for All Stars. You know. I did

17:47

do like a whole campaign, Yeah,

17:50

print shirts and stuff like vo for Kyle

17:52

and all this.

17:52

Stuff, But you know, was

17:55

on top of it.

17:56

Yeah, she was on fire.

17:57

I'm running for president, yes,

17:59

straight up.

18:00

Well, at the end of the day, you know, it's

18:03

a show, and it's a great television

18:05

show, and it's very entertaining,

18:08

and you know, at the end of the day, the producers

18:10

they chose what was best for them and the fans shows

18:12

what they wanted to see, so that everyone ended

18:14

up what they wanted.

18:15

So do you remember Tristan McManus.

18:19

Yeah, he said during the Vegas

18:21

run that he had a heart attack on stage,

18:25

but he never said, Tristan.

18:29

That's news to me. I didn't know that. I

18:31

have no memory of that happening.

18:33

So what was it like over there? Like you did a show

18:35

once or twice a day or oh, man.

18:38

Like, so we had a show every day, two on Sunday,

18:41

so we were like, wow, working over

18:43

time, and like the only time

18:45

we'd have a day off is like sometimes

18:48

the Matineez Sunday show wouldn't sell out

18:50

and they'd be like, oh, we're just going to put take its

18:52

back, so we'd have like the matin day off,

18:54

and in some sense of that.

18:56

Day off, that's hours off.

18:58

Yeah, but I mean some days we'd have a

19:00

day or two off, but yeah, we were working

19:02

every day, were working at every day,

19:05

so take this out. So this is how I kind of

19:07

fell in this like perfect area

19:09

for me to stay focused because

19:12

I'm living in a penthouse at

19:14

the Tropic Cannon. Right, I

19:16

got free room service. Everything

19:18

I did in the hotel was on the house, right,

19:21

so and I got free valet apartment car

19:23

right in the front. So

19:25

I was lit. I was like living it up.

19:29

But honestly, like because I

19:31

was under twenty one, that eliminated

19:34

a whole process of

19:37

living. So you know what's so

19:39

crazy about that. I don't even know when the

19:42

troupe said when I was living at the Tropic

19:44

Canna, Like this is like as soon as we got

19:46

there, I just remember I like

19:48

snuck down to one of the bars

19:51

and I like ordered a bunch of shots,

19:53

right, and I started acting crazy, like

19:56

jumping on tables and stuff by

19:58

himself.

19:58

I was Joey fatone with.

20:01

I'm not going to incriminate anybody,

20:06

right, but I wasn't a home

20:08

okay. So but

20:11

anyways, long story short, the next day

20:14

we show up for rehearsals and so

20:16

you know, like on the dance and stuff, everyone like sits

20:18

on the stage and like the person that talks to everyone.

20:22

Yeah, notes right, So I'm thinking like, oh my this notes

20:24

whatever. They're like, we

20:27

need you to go to the.

20:29

Owner's office of the trumpic Cana.

20:31

I'm like, oh my god, the owner

20:34

of the hotel.

20:35

Yeah, so the owner of the Trumpicana would

20:38

be there, like because when we when we were,

20:40

when I was living there, they had just got like

20:42

a two.

20:42

Hundred million dollar renovation from the

20:45

previous owner.

20:46

So I remember we were there, remember for

20:48

the opening show.

20:49

Yeah, yeah, it was bringing new everything, you know.

20:52

And he like called me into his office

20:57

and he was like, Kyle, I

21:00

want you know there's video of you at the bar last

21:02

night.

21:03

I was like, jab should

21:05

have acted so freaking crazy, I know.

21:07

I was like I was reckless, and he was like, so listen,

21:09

I just want you to know that there's

21:11

a zero tolerance for drinking

21:14

and all this stuff. He was like, so all

21:16

of your room service alcohol has been canceled

21:19

for the remains day. He's like,

21:21

I've notified every single bar, every

21:23

single place on this property that

21:25

you or anybody that you're with is prohibited

21:27

from drinking.

21:28

Alcohol for the well, whoever you're with, anybody.

21:31

I was with couldn't have associated with

21:33

So if I.

21:34

Pulled up with them and they weren't like on the

21:36

show, if they weren't, yeah, it

21:38

was like no drinks too many.

21:40

So like Lacy couldn't get a drink, no.

21:43

Because she's a feeling with the show. So she's good

21:45

if they were like on their own

21:47

accord. But I mean, like some of

21:49

my friends from Vegas that would come visit me, right,

21:52

I would have to go other places.

21:55

But it was It was honestly one of some

21:57

of the greatest memories ever, just

22:00

like just dancing there, and

22:02

it really honestly taught me about

22:05

like nobody's gonna do your ship

22:08

for you. I remember Lacey made that extremely

22:10

clear and Vegas. She would always say, look, this is not

22:12

Dance with the Stars, Like you got to take care of your

22:14

own ship here. There's not going to be the

22:16

wardrobe person coming up and taping

22:18

your shirt or Friday

22:21

Vegas because it's a live show and

22:23

there isn't There is no Dancing with the

22:26

Stars crew here.

22:27

It's just a wardrobe team.

22:28

Yeah, you gotta bring your shoes. When

22:30

I judge my experience with things

22:33

or places or events or shows,

22:36

it's my experience, and I never realized

22:39

how negative someone else's

22:41

experience can be.

22:42

And we're the same address, you

22:44

know, and it's just you know, so that's

22:46

that's.

22:47

Really with Tristan, Like it hurts my

22:49

heart because like we would party together like

22:51

after the show. Remember, we would always go out like after

22:53

the live show, and that was back when they had results

22:56

show, so we had that free day kind of, so

22:58

we would all party Monday night or whatever the live

23:00

Wish shows. But he wrote he literally

23:02

did an interview just about he mentioned

23:04

it on the reality show and he was like I would

23:06

be the last one standing at these parties after

23:08

the show and he would be just

23:11

going until the next morning, just by

23:13

himself. And I'm like, oh my god. But

23:15

we were similar. We were like just in

23:17

silence, like there's a lot of shame that comes with addiction,

23:20

right, yeah, do you have

23:22

Are you an addict or do you know of anyone

23:24

that is?

23:26

Thank God, I'm not an addict,

23:29

And you know, I never battled

23:31

with substance or any type of drug

23:33

abuse. You know, you know, I

23:36

respect alcohol, And when I say I respect

23:38

it, I mean like I respect it to the point where

23:40

I don't I try not to overdo it. Sometimes

23:43

I'll cross the line and I'll get a little carried away,

23:45

but it's never to the point where it's like dangerous,

23:48

you know, right, But yeah,

23:51

like no, I know a lot of people that have been

23:54

battling addiction and just like, yeah,

23:57

you know other child stars.

23:59

And and people who I would never

24:01

like.

24:02

Blast out, but you know people of course, you

24:04

know, you guys know, and you

24:06

know they they've been going through it for a really, really long

24:08

time, you know, behind the scenes, in front

24:10

of the scenes. Some of them have the courage to come out

24:13

and you know, express what they're

24:15

going through publicly. But a lot of times

24:17

people are fighting these battles alone with

24:19

no one to talk to.

24:20

What are your thoughts on quiet on set?

24:23

It's a hard thing to just

24:25

address in general, you know, because

24:28

it's extremely sticky, and

24:31

I just want to be respectful to everybody

24:33

that's you

24:35

know, because a lot of these people, you know, I've known

24:37

in passing from you know, Drake Bell and

24:39

you know a lot of those stars that are in

24:42

that documentary. But you know, I think

24:44

it's just unfortunate. I think that you know, a lot

24:46

of people need to step up

24:48

and protect these kids. You know, because

24:50

you know, a set of a

24:53

children's show should always be the safest

24:55

place that those kids can go. You know, I

24:57

just think that it's just unfortunate, honestly, I just

25:00

and for everybody that's involved. Like so,

25:02

I was talking about my experience. In my experience,

25:05

you know, you know, I was on the number

25:07

one show on Disney, My Frother's on the number one show

25:09

on Nickelodeon, and you

25:12

know, our parents were

25:15

everywhere with us at all times, because

25:17

you know, Raven Simone's mother was there.

25:20

You know, Britney

25:22

Spears mother was there and her father, they

25:24

were on set.

25:25

They made time because when I was

25:27

feeling my show, Corey in the house, and

25:30

then right here was Sweet Life, Zack

25:32

and Cody, and then right here.

25:34

Was Wizards a waverly place.

25:37

So I would literally

25:39

bounce around. And

25:42

that's why I know everyone's parents, because

25:44

parents. That's how I know Maley Sorry's

25:46

parents. I don't been ready to tish because

25:48

they were upset every day. You know,

25:51

That's the only reason that we know them. You

25:53

know. So in my from my view

25:56

of the world, everyone

25:58

that I was in common and and

26:00

it's a blessing, you know, it's a blessing because

26:02

thank God that I was in that type

26:04

of situation, because the other

26:07

side of that coin is a dark side, so

26:09

you know, and I just thank out that

26:13

my experience

26:16

was family. Everyone's

26:18

family was involved and

26:20

everything all the time. And

26:22

honestly, like, you know, my

26:25

parents took a lot of their parenting

26:29

advice as far as like, because it's one thing

26:31

to be a great parent.

26:32

There's a million great parents out

26:34

there, and kudos to all of them.

26:35

They all work really hard, and all the set parents,

26:38

they all work extremely hard, teaching those

26:40

kids their lines, making sure they got

26:42

their hair cut, making sure the rest

26:44

so that they can perform and teach school and

26:46

learn like they do. So they do amazing things.

26:48

So you know, I would never knock any set

26:51

parents, you know. But

26:53

my mom, she got my mom

26:55

and dad, you know, they got a lot of their advice

26:58

on how to like raise famous

27:00

kids.

27:01

I guess you could say from.

27:02

Raven's parents, you know, right.

27:04

Because Raven's been famous since she was three years

27:07

old on the Cosme Show, So she grew.

27:09

I've been famous as our seven Ravens

27:11

been famous since she was three.

27:13

She only knows faith.

27:14

That's crazy, you.

27:16

Know, it's a lot of things that go into raising

27:18

a child on television, and it

27:21

is extremely difficult, you know, And you

27:23

know there's a lot of different elements that come

27:25

into play, where people's finances

27:27

or the transportation or there's a

27:29

lot of different variables.

27:31

That can withhold you know, people

27:33

from being there all the time.

27:35

And you know, my heart just goes out to those

27:37

people that are affected by that, because nobody

27:40

deserves that.

27:49

Rapid fire. This is the best part of the

27:51

freaking podcast. Get your seatbelt

27:54

on and let's hit it. Ready, hear

27:56

me? Who falls in love first? The celebrity or

27:58

Dancer's the celebrity? The

28:01

favorite judge.

28:03

Favorite judge?

28:06

Judge Judy on Dancing with the

28:08

Stars. You're

28:10

serious, You're so serious.

28:12

Just now I got to say Judge,

28:15

Okay, my favorite judge.

28:19

That's the best answer so far. I've done a lot

28:21

of these.

28:22

That's crazy, my bad.

28:23

I remind your second

28:29

favorite judge.

28:33

I gotta go with Lynn.

28:34

Dance that you felt like was underscored? And why

28:37

oh what

28:40

did you get for your freestyle? You got a perfect score?

28:42

Right?

28:42

I think I got all tens for a freestyle.

28:45

Were you tied with Jennifer? I'm just wondering were

28:47

you tired?

28:48

You know what? Okay, So so in

28:50

the end, I don't know which because you know

28:53

that last episode you two dances one

28:55

I got a flawless three tens

28:57

and then one I got two tens and nine Lin

28:59

game in nine.

29:00

And so I think that she was up one

29:03

one.

29:04

Yeah, I think that.

29:04

She was up one point close.

29:07

Then I don't know I thought I won? You

29:09

real, were you shocked?

29:11

You mean to tell you the God's honest truth, Like

29:14

I never expected to win, Like

29:16

I didn't think I was gonna make it past the first episode.

29:19

You knew, okay when you were in the final though,

29:21

because you had invested so much of your time

29:23

already, Like did you not think you were going to win?

29:26

You know what?

29:28

No, Lacey really she really

29:31

believed we were gonna win, And honestly,

29:33

I started I started to believe because

29:37

Lacey was like convinced. She was like, Kyle, you

29:39

know this dance. All you have to do is go

29:42

do it exactly how you know how to

29:44

do it, and you will win it.

29:46

Like she was telling me that while.

29:47

Working like stage right and they're like all right, thirty seconds.

29:49

She was like, how you can win. She was

29:52

like you can win, But how can

29:54

I?

29:54

How can I be runner up to a dancer

29:57

in a dance competition?

29:58

Like I want most amazing quality

30:01

about Lacey, I

30:04

would say.

30:06

Just like how she drills,

30:09

Like she's like a drill sergeant.

30:12

Sometimes I hear you

30:14

like she can she can be some

30:17

work when she wants to work.

30:18

You know, one word to describe quickly.

30:21

David Hasselhoff, go one word,

30:24

uh, boss,

30:26

Michael Bolton's classy,

30:31

Margaret Choe funny,

30:34

30:37

30:39

She's sweet, She's

30:41

so sweet.

30:42

Audrina Patridge, she's

30:46

Wikipedia says, yeah.

30:48

She was, she was, she was cool, she was

30:50

reserved.

30:52

30:56

30:59
