Laarni Mulvey is a speaker of strength and an author who is also known as the "Power Lady." She is a 47-year old athlete who inspires others to believe in their own strength. She believes strength can positively impact others, that strength allows people to outperform and outgrow the standards set upon them. She shares her strength and leads people to embrace their own strength, to not be afraid of it, because it's never too late to get BIG.

Laarni's Notes from the Sidelines:

  1. Being an athlete has given Laarni confidence to tell the story of her Filipina childhood, inspire others, be assertive about things she wants to do, and speak on platforms. It has opened doors for her.
  2. She was willing to take the time to find the right exercise for her. "I feel like when I hit 40, there was a different level of life that I wanted to accomplish, and that is where the strength sports came in."
  3. Being afraid to hurt herself doesn't stop her from trying.
  4. Laarni wants to share her strength and let people know that they can embrace their athleticism and it's not just physical, it's also the athleticism of their brain. The idea of being big and strong is okay.
  5. Strength is universal; it's everywhere. It starts within yourself. You are strong enough. Standing strong is really important.
  6. Don't be afraid to outperform and outgrow the standards that were set upon you by your parents when you were young. We should be setting our own wisdom and be understanding and trusting of our own wisdom for ourselves.
  7. There are goals, but there's also enjoying the process and allowing the unfolding, because there are going to be good days and bad days. The question is how am I going to react to the successes and failures, because failure is another page in the lesson book.
  8. To quote Laarni's friend, "We only have one life. We're here for a  good time, not for a long time."
