Hey, welcome back to the podcast.
1:01
It's been a while since a new episode
1:03
went live. In fact, it
1:05
is July, 2023 as I'm recording
1:07
this, and the last episode went live
1:09
November, 2020. So
1:12
you may not even remember subscribing to this podcast.
1:15
Who knows? Um, but I
1:17
have a lot to update you on. As
1:19
you can imagine, a lot has changed.
1:21
If you don't remember who I
1:23
am and why you subscribe to this podcast, I'll
1:25
do a quick reminder and then we'll dig
1:27
into all the updates
1:30
and what you can expect from me
1:32
and this podcast and my business going
1:34
forward. So when you first
1:36
subscribe to this podcast, it was probably called The Productive
1:39
Life with Megan Mins. I
1:41
am Megan Mins. Or at least I
1:43
used to be. That is my maiden name,
1:45
and I am actually shifting
1:47
it and rebranding my business.
1:49
And this podcast, that'll be definitely something
1:51
we dig into. So depending on when you're listening to
1:53
this, it may still be called
1:55
that as I start to put out new episodes,
1:58
or we may have gone ahead and rebranded. We'll
2:01
just see how that timing ends up. But
2:03
I wanna go ahead and catch up because the
2:05
last episode in November, 2020
2:07
was a second trimester update and.
2:11
Since then I have become a
2:13
mom. I ended up shutting
2:15
down my group coaching program. I
2:18
started working for one of my dear
2:20
friends and prior clients. Ended
2:22
up working for her full-time for I think
2:24
like a year, and then ended
2:27
up experiencing three more miscarriages.
2:29
I had three before having our
2:32
daughter. And ended up quitting that job
2:34
because I needed to focus on
2:37
me and my health, and
2:39
I ended up basically going on a year
2:42
plus sabbatical. Very
2:44
unplanned, unintentionally, but
2:46
just made the choice one day
2:48
to take a break and just kept making
2:51
that choice every single day for over
2:53
a year. Over that time, I
2:55
got pregnant again. With
2:58
a healthy pregnancy and
3:00
was posting on TikTok about pregnancy
3:03
and motherhood. I had our second
3:05
child in January of 2023,
3:08
and then this past summer I actually
3:10
ceed a three day in-person
3:13
conference in Dallas
3:15
and decided I was ready to come
3:17
back to business after over
3:20
two and a half years, or over
3:22
two years, I should say, of really
3:25
being on a hiatus in my business. Since
3:27
deciding to come back to business, I
3:29
booked out some private coaching and
3:32
did that by posting just two
3:34
Instagram stories, and that
3:36
was just so humbling. And,
3:39
Unexpected and amazing.
3:41
So I've been working with some private coaching clients
3:43
the past couple of months, and
3:46
here I am coming back
3:48
to business ready to start doing
3:50
more public facing besides
3:53
just supporting my clients ready to start
3:56
giving you value,
3:58
connecting with you, helping you, and.
4:01
Yeah, it's been great. I have
4:03
generated over $45,000 in
4:05
sales in just the first two months
4:08
of being back, and we're just getting
4:10
going. So I'm excited to see that
4:12
number climb and not
4:15
from any type of like vanity metric, but
4:17
I have a very real goal with my business
4:20
now that I am a mom of two. And
4:22
I have decided to come back to business and we are
4:24
paying money for childcare. I
4:27
am really focused on making sure
4:29
my business pays for our childcare,
4:32
and there's a very like strategic process of
4:34
how much money we need to make to do that
4:36
and. Then of course, money that
4:38
you wanna reinvest in the business and
4:40
have leftover in profit. So
4:43
maybe we'll have another episode later, talking a little bit
4:45
more about money and
4:48
how we're even doing the business plan,
4:50
because it's definitely different this time around.
4:52
Like I mentioned earlier, I am
4:55
in the process of rebranding. I'm doing
4:57
it imperfectly. I'm not really
4:59
doing the full visual rebrand.
5:01
I would love, I can't wait to work with
5:03
a designer one day, but we're
5:05
just not ready. I'm just not ready to
5:08
commit to a, like a redesigned
5:10
brand and business yet. I kind of need to
5:12
like feel out the business a little bit. More
5:15
myself. First, I like to have a
5:17
lot more clarity in where
5:19
my business is going before I invest
5:21
in branding with a professional. But
5:24
from a conceptual standpoint, from a naming standpoint,
5:27
I am rebranding the business from Megan
5:29
Mins, which is my maiden name to
5:32
Meg King. And I've
5:34
been married since 2016, so Megan
5:36
King has been my name. Since
5:38
2016, and I've just been going by
5:41
Megan Mins professionally,
5:43
and that worked for a while, but especially
5:46
after taking a two year break, I really
5:48
just felt ready to shift into a
5:50
new identity, a new name. Own
5:53
my real life name, especially
5:56
now that I have kids. You know, like this name isn't going
5:58
anywhere. And so I really
6:00
felt like it was the right time. So, uh,
6:03
and all my friends call me Meg,
6:05
so it's definitely shift going
6:07
from Megan to Meg publicly.
6:10
But it feels good. It feels good to introduce
6:12
myself as Meg. So going forward, Hey,
6:15
I'm Meg and let's be
6:17
friends. So that's definitely happening.
6:19
So I'm doing a little bit of visual rebranding myself,
6:22
but also just, you know, we're
6:24
gonna wait on that visual brand. Trust me, later
6:27
this year, we're gonna have a really amazing rebrand.
6:29
Visually, I'm gonna hopefully get new photos done,
6:32
but I'm all about doing things simply
6:34
and imperfectly, and
6:36
taking action instead of just being in a holding
6:39
pattern. So, You're gonna start to see
6:41
this Meg King shift. I've already
6:43
changed my social media handles to
6:45
hey Meg King, and I'm in the process
6:47
of shifting the website and email
6:49
address and things like that, and.
6:52
I'm also in a very different spot with how
6:54
I work on this business
6:57
and how I run this business because
6:59
in the past, prior to having children, I
7:01
ultimately had all of the time in the world
7:04
to spend on my business, and
7:06
I never was one who was really working overtime
7:08
on my business anyways. I really always prioritized
7:11
having personal time and downtime. But
7:14
there is definitely a shift from getting to
7:16
choose that to only having
7:19
like a set number of hours per week that I
7:21
can sit at my desk and have reliable
7:23
work time. Even though we have childcare
7:26
for both children right now, that's
7:28
really looking like less than 15 hours per
7:30
week at an absolute maximum.
7:32
And that's like if I didn't eat lunch
7:35
or have personal appointments or
7:37
a kid didn't get sick, so,
7:39
Yeah, as you can imagine, 15 hours
7:42
would be like a good week, and most
7:44
of the time it's far less, like probably
7:46
half. So I am really
7:49
simplifying the business, not only from
7:51
a software standpoint, but how
7:53
I choose to do things in my business,
7:55
how I choose to work with clients, how I
7:57
choose to do marketing,
8:00
how I choose to do the backend. I don't have
8:02
any help right now. I don't have a virtual assistant or anything,
8:05
so. It's all on me. So things
8:07
have got to be simple and they've gotta
8:09
be hyper focused. So I'm
8:11
really, really clear on my priorities
8:13
and where my energy is going, and that's why
8:15
the past couple of months I haven't done the podcast
8:17
because I have been focused on my
8:20
clients. I've been focused on.
8:22
Getting things set up for them, serving them to
8:24
my fullest capabilities, and now feel
8:26
like I can transition into doing more
8:29
marketing again, which I'm really excited about,
8:31
but it's making me be patient,
8:33
which is not my strong suit. I love
8:35
taking fast action when I can, so
8:38
sometimes having to wait
8:40
and go slower can feel
8:43
really frustrating, but we're figuring
8:45
it out. And as I come back to business,
8:47
this is a really great opportunity for me to
8:50
clarify who I wanna help
8:52
and how I wanna help them. And it's
8:54
been an interesting mindset
8:56
journey coming to this point because
8:58
I didn't realize how much fear there was
9:01
for me in niching. I
9:03
think that sometimes, Niching
9:05
isn't necessary. I'm absolutely
9:08
a personal brand, and so on social media, I always
9:10
talk about all parts of my life, but
9:13
I do feel like when it comes to
9:15
marketing and communicating
9:18
how you help people, the more specific
9:20
you can be, the easier that is,
9:23
and I really want things to feel simple
9:25
and easy and straightforward right now. And
9:27
especially in the coaching space, sometimes it's hard
9:29
to nail that down because
9:32
especially if you're like me and you love. Personalized,
9:35
individualized, high
9:37
level private coaching, you
9:39
can really take things in a lot of different directions
9:41
based on the needs of your client and based on your
9:43
intuition and I love that. But
9:46
when I'm trying to help more people and,
9:49
and have larger,
9:51
more accessible ways to work with people,
9:54
you've gotta get clear. Right? So there's definitely
9:56
been a lot of mindset stuff for me when it comes
9:58
to making this choice to niche down. There's still
10:01
a lot of. Resistance. I'm
10:03
doing it through the resistance, but there's absolutely
10:05
still some resistance with worrying
10:07
about people's reactions or
10:09
feeling like, am I really, do
10:11
I know enough to talk about this? Even though
10:13
I absolutely do, and there's
10:16
also fear about just like excluding people
10:18
and it's really caused me to.
10:21
Take a step back and look at the
10:23
journey of my life, all of my experiences,
10:26
all of my areas of expertise and
10:28
interest, and the
10:30
stories I have, the successes I have,
10:32
and it's really cool to see how it really does
10:35
all culminate in the direction
10:37
of my business from this point forward. But
10:40
it's interesting how much mindset stuff
10:42
can come up when it comes to shifting and pivoting
10:44
your business. So at this
10:46
point, med King is shifting to
10:49
focusing on moms
10:51
soon to be moms, aspiring moms,
10:53
new moms, experienced
10:56
and established moms. Wherever you fall on that spectrum,
10:59
I really wanna help moms grow in
11:01
online coaching business. Now,
11:03
you could technically be. But not
11:06
a mom. You could be any kind
11:08
of service provider, but my
11:10
area of expertise is absolutely online
11:12
coaching. I have been coaching online
11:14
in various capacities and formats.
11:17
Basically, since I started my business, I. I
11:20
love it. Coaching is my favorite way to
11:22
work with people. Even when I have tried
11:24
to do more structured programs
11:26
like courses or like
11:28
high ticket group coaching, I've always
11:30
found that the coaching piece, the
11:32
live calls piece, the
11:34
answering your questions piece, the helping
11:37
you overcome your mindset blocks, peace,
11:39
that's my zone. That's my
11:41
favorite place to be. And so I'm really
11:43
excited to be leaning into. Not
11:46
only the fact that like I'm a coach and this is a coaching
11:48
business, but also the fact that
11:51
I can help other people start
11:53
and grow their own coaching business as
11:55
well. And specifically for moms, this
11:57
is making sure it's profitable. So we're
11:59
gonna be making really smart choices financially
12:02
and also making sure we're pricing in a healthy
12:04
way for our business. And also that it's fulfilling
12:07
because one of the big reasons I
12:09
decided to come back to business after being a stay-at-home
12:11
mom for over a year was to have.
12:14
An individual sense of fulfillment,
12:17
a personal sense of fulfillment outside
12:19
of my children and home
12:21
and mothering. So maybe
12:24
that sounds like you, you're looking for another way to get some
12:26
fulfillment and also fun. Like
12:28
I don't see a point in doing this if it's not something
12:30
you enjoy. That doesn't mean it's not hard or
12:33
there's not rough moments along the
12:35
way, but that overall you enjoy
12:37
it, that you are enjoying working
12:39
with your clients and. Growing your business
12:42
and through all of this,
12:45
We have a limited amount of time. If you're a mom,
12:47
regardless of what stage you're at with that, you know
12:49
there's a lot of different demands on
12:51
your time, and so all
12:54
of this has to happen in less than 15
12:56
hours a week, right? None of us have
12:58
really more time than that, and less, maybe
13:00
your kids get older, which is amazing,
13:02
but. I have two kids under the age
13:05
of three, and even with childcare,
13:07
there's really very little time to
13:10
dedicate to my business where I can schedule
13:12
calls and be on camera and be
13:14
confident that I can have that focus time.
13:17
So every choice we make in our business has to
13:19
align with that. It has to feel good to
13:21
us, it has to make sense for
13:24
us to prioritize it, and
13:26
it has to be simple and fast and
13:28
efficient and easy. And. We
13:31
can't fall into these patterns of complexity
13:34
and taking our time trying to make things perfect.
13:37
So I know that was a wordy
13:39
way to say it, but basically I love
13:41
helping moms grow an online
13:43
coaching business that is profitable, fulfilling,
13:46
fun, and simple enough
13:48
that it takes less than 15 hours a week to run.
13:51
I hope if you're listening to this, that's
13:53
something you're excited about, that you're excited
13:56
for this new direction I'm taking
13:58
things. And I also understand that if that's
14:01
not you, that's totally
14:03
okay. And, uh, if you know someone
14:05
you think would like this, I would love for you to share it with
14:07
them and let them know, this is what I'm focused
14:09
on, but. It's okay for you to be here,
14:12
even if you're not a mom or an online
14:14
coach. I feel like what
14:16
we'll be talking about will of course be applicable
14:18
to people who are the exception
14:21
to this demographic. But
14:23
if you are a mom growing an online
14:25
business who doesn't have a lot of time, know
14:28
this is the place for you. So
14:31
I'm really excited along with this.
14:33
Clarified focus in my business,
14:35
I'm building out my product suite to
14:37
allow me the chance to support more people.
14:40
You have not been able to work with me
14:42
for less than $5,000
14:45
in like five years.
14:47
I think there have been like one off v
14:50
I P intensives that were the exception to
14:52
this, but I really haven't sold
14:55
any, anything that had coaching since
14:58
at least 2019, so maybe more like four
15:00
years, but. Yeah, it's like
15:02
a while. So I'm really excited to finally
15:04
have a way to work with people at a larger
15:07
scale, at an accessible price point and
15:09
still provide like incredible transformation
15:12
and value and impact. So the
15:14
product suite I'm working towards, and I may do another
15:17
episode digging into my decision
15:19
making process here, but. Just so you
15:21
know what to expect, I am going to
15:23
have a monthly membership, and this is going to
15:25
be where you come in and you're getting new
15:27
trainings from me. Every single month, you're getting
15:29
access to mini courses
15:32
and on-demand trainings, and
15:35
most importantly, you're getting access to a community
15:37
as well as access
15:39
to ask me questions and
15:41
get answers from me. So I'm
15:43
really excited for this membership. It'll be launching.
15:46
Okay. Hopefully in August or September
15:49
of 2023. So absolutely keep
15:51
an eye out for that. And if you wanna know
15:53
more, check the description for
15:55
this. You'll, there should be links for you to either join
15:57
or get on a wait list. In addition to
15:59
the membership, I'm gonna be launching, or I
16:02
currently am launching and enrolling
16:04
into my new mastermind program. This
16:06
program is all about more established
16:09
business owners, finding a high level
16:11
intimate community, getting more personalized
16:13
coaching. With me, we're on camera. You're getting direct
16:16
access to me. My eyes are on your business. I'm
16:18
giving you my feedback. I am helping
16:20
you grow your business to the next level.
16:22
And also you're getting that community with other.
16:25
Industry leaders, so it's a very,
16:27
very special space. There are limited spots
16:29
available, and once those spots are gone,
16:32
the program will be closed and
16:34
on a wait list until a spot opens
16:36
up. Okay. In addition, I'm also still
16:38
doing private coaching, but I like
16:40
to make sure I don't overextend
16:42
myself, so I only work with one or
16:44
two private coaching clients at a time going forward.
16:47
One of those spots is already full for the next six
16:49
months. So if you are interested in private coaching,
16:52
either uh, apply. You can
16:54
check the link below, or it might be on a wait list
16:56
and you can join the wait list. So more to
16:58
come with all of that, and I can't wait to
17:00
share more of this journey and behind the scenes of
17:02
this decision making process and how
17:04
it goes launching these things and the
17:06
impact it's having. You'll
17:09
hear all of it here on the podcast. And
17:12
the last update is let's talk about
17:14
the podcast. So I am relaunching
17:16
it. Here it is. You're listening to it.
17:18
It's been relaunched, but I am rebranding
17:21
it as well because when it was
17:23
first, Created as the productive
17:25
life with Megan Mins. I was always very clear
17:27
that it really wasn't all about productivity and that productivity
17:30
wasn't the metric of success. But
17:32
I do think I've learned a lot since
17:35
then since I used to focus
17:37
on productivity. I used to call myself a productivity coach,
17:40
and that's amazing and there's nothing wrong with that. But
17:42
I definitely feel like at this point in my life,
17:45
productivity isn't my
17:47
focus. I don't spend every
17:49
bit of the day being productive, and
17:52
that's okay. I instead
17:54
try to be focused and I
17:56
try to be present and
17:58
intentional, but a lot
18:00
of the self-imposed pressure
18:02
I would feel from productivity is
18:04
just not part of my life anymore. And
18:07
I think that I wanted to
18:09
relaunch the podcast as opposed
18:11
to just starting a new one because I think. A
18:13
lot of you have been on this journey with me,
18:15
and I think the past couple of years there's been a
18:18
pretty sweeping shift away
18:20
from productivity
18:22
being the main thing. We're all focused on towards
18:24
a lot more of a balanced
18:27
or integrated life where
18:29
we are focused on what really matters and.
18:32
Not holding ourselves to some impossible standard.
18:35
So just felt right to revive the podcast
18:37
and shift the direction. So
18:40
going forward, this podcast is
18:42
a real reflection of where I'm at in life. My
18:44
journey up until this point. And
18:46
this podcast is gonna be where
18:48
business and motherhood collide, where we're
18:50
talking about the journey of being a
18:52
mom, becoming a mom, deciding
18:55
to grow your family, making those decisions,
18:57
how to be a present mom, as
18:59
well as how to grow
19:01
a really, really successful and.
19:04
Fun business at the same time.
19:06
So this podcast is gonna be called Mommy
19:09
Knows Business, and I'm so excited
19:11
it's my first time like saying that name out loud,
19:14
so it feels very new to me
19:16
still. But I'm really excited to
19:18
be shifting this to Mommy Knows business where
19:20
Business and motherhood collide and
19:22
I can't wait to. Dig more into
19:24
this area to,
19:26
of course, talk about business systems
19:29
and tech and productivity
19:31
and how I'm setting goals and
19:33
managing my time. Of course, those are things
19:35
I'm always interested in, but it's absolutely
19:38
through a different lens now. It
19:40
means something different to me now and
19:44
I. Really am excited to have the space
19:46
to also talk about motherhood because
19:48
it has changed me fundamentally
19:51
for the better. But it's also been a
19:53
journey and I have found that the thing I'm the
19:55
most grateful for is
19:57
community with other moms,
19:59
and especially mom entrepreneurs,
20:02
and getting to talk
20:04
to someone who gets it is so
20:06
hard to find still. So I'm really hoping
20:09
I can be that place for you
20:11
where it's relatable. We're not
20:13
doing things perfectly. If you happen to be watching
20:15
the video of this, which I am hoping to post
20:17
on YouTube like my,
20:20
the room I'm recording this in has a treadmill behind
20:22
me. It's not decorated, like this is
20:24
not aesthetic and my life is not
20:26
very aesthetic right now. It's messy
20:29
and disorganized and there's
20:31
always toys laying around and.
20:34
There's a lot of things I'd like to get done that I
20:36
don't always get done, and that's okay. So this
20:38
is all about the relatable version,
20:41
not the perfect version. So absolutely
20:43
no judgment here and just a place
20:45
for us to cheer each other on and share what's
20:48
working and lessons learned and
20:50
the whole journey. So I am honored
20:52
to have you here if you are excited
20:54
about the direction things are going. Would love for you to share
20:56
this on Instagram or Instagram
20:58
stories, and you can tag me at, Hey
21:00
Meg King and I can share it. It would also
21:03
mean a lot if you'd share this with someone that you think would
21:05
really enjoy the direction this podcast is going.
21:08
If you would leave it a rating or
21:10
a review, that would also be huge.
21:12
And especially as I relaunched the podcast,
21:14
that would mean so much to me. And
21:17
I am just honored to have you alongside
21:19
this journey and can't wait to grow our businesses
21:21
together while also growing
21:24
in motherhood together. So I will see you in
21:26
the next episode. Thank you so much
21:29
and have a good day.
