California recently expanded the Earned Income Tax Credit — a program that has been called one of the most effective anti-poverty initiatives in contemporary American history. On this episode, I talk to one of the program’s highest profile proponents — investor and entrepreneur Joe Sanberg. He worked on Wall Street for a time, and was the founding investor in Blue Apron, the home delivery meal service. He also was a co-founder of Aspiration.com, which offers socially-conscious banking and financial services — and some believe he may at some point run for public office in the Golden State. Sanberg reviews how the EITC works, and whether it can be a model for other states across the country.
