This weekend is HUGE for women's hockey and women's sports alike! The National Women's Hockey League will be awarding their fifth official Isobel Cup champion in existence this weekend following a long-awaited playoff. If you followed the Lake Placid bubble, you know that COVID-19 ended the original playoff run early, and three games remain. Although the Buffalo Beauts and Metropolitan Riveters will not be joining the league in Boston due to either preemptive exits or elimination, FOUR teams will be battling for the cup. We sit down with Anya Packer, the Executive Director of the National Women's Hockey League Player's Association, to preview the weekend and discuss what the atmosphere is like following the unexpected pause.
