Welcome to Episode 6 of Slightly Evolved! Our guest is Dr Nancy Chen a NSF postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, Davis.This week we are talking about how evolution can occur even on short, ecological time scales. Nancy tells us how she went from doing her undergrad project at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory to now applying genomics to a classic long term ecological study, the Florida scrub jay at Archbold Research Station. We discuss what genomics can tell us about declining populations, as well as the importance of continuing to support long term study systems.
