In 1962, the world was on the brink of Nuclear Armageddon as tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union were at their highest. But at the zero hour, Earth is saved by… the X-Men! Mutants! Men and women blessed with amazing abilities like energy chest! Chameleon-ing! Loud noises! Nude shape-shifting! Diamond shape-shifting! To be fair, there are lots of cool mutants that just weren’t born by 1962 so we won’t see them in this movie.

This movie, set in the groovy 60’s with the Cuban Missile Crisis looming, served as both soft reboot and savior of the X-movie franchise but its not a perfect film. So of course the Snark Knights go out of their way to nitpick as often as we applaud the thoroughly enjoyable, somewhat forgettable, but never boring X-Men: First Class.
