0:20

0:25

Sure, here we go, high drive, clip Field, Met's cover.

0:29

Everybody is first home runs A two one see on the league. Hey,

0:35

flat ball, late field, big drive by rows, this gold te

0:43

Shroll's home run. I'm gonna pitch it over whoa all right there he is

0:50

the man of the hour, Dave Simms, always the man of the hour.

0:54

Big thanks to Root Sports for letting us play those highlights on the radio

0:57

show, because the guy he was describing today, A Bryce Miller was absolutely

1:02

sensationally joined us right now on the radio show. Bryce, how are you

1:06

man? I'm great, I'm great. Good to get a get a sweet

1:11

Well, it's great to have you on the show. You were unbelievable today,

1:15

man, six innings, one hit, one earned, seven k's,

1:17

one walk. Give us kind of a thought on what you thought was really

1:19

working out there for you against that red offense today. Man, yeah,

1:26

it was. It was a good day. Early on, I felt like

1:30

I didn't really have have the best stuff today, but it's one of those

1:33

days where he's got to figure it out. And you know, the splitter

1:37

has been big for me all year and then uh, today we were working

1:40

the sinker back door and it was really working. And correct me if I'm

1:46

wrong, But those weren't pitches that you relied on last year. A lot

1:48

of those you've worked on in the off season. Just talk about your work

1:51

ethic over the last six months or so to develop something other than your four

1:56

seamer. Yeah, yeah, no, both of those are are pretty new

2:00

pitches for me. The splitter was was added this offseason and it's been been

2:06

huge for me so far. I added the sinker like mid season last year,

2:09

but it was something that I wasn't very comfortable with and something I worked

2:15

on quite a bit of this offseason as well. But yeah, going into

2:19

the off season, I knew I needed to attack lefties better and I needed

2:22

to get them out a little more efficiently. So that's kind of where the

2:28

idea for the splitter came and so far, you know, things have been

2:30

going well. Yeah, I'd say they're going very well. Bryce Miller is

2:34

with us today. Phenomenal start for him today against the Reds. DMS get

2:37

to sweep against Cincinnati. And I don't know if you're a superstitious guy or

2:40

not, but if you are, I won't mention the numbers the last three

2:44

games. I'll just say you've been phenomenal. But what's been the difference for

2:46

you since that first start against Boston? Talk about kind of rebounding from that

2:52

game and what the last three games have meant to you. Yeah, No,

2:57

they last three have been really good. I think I felt like I

3:00

threw the ball well in the first game as well. I just got got

3:04

hit by that three run home run, and I was kind of falling behind

3:08

in some counts, you know, the first game against Boston, and so

3:12

the last few weeks I've been trying to, you know, be in better

3:14

counts and get ahead, and uh, it's uh, it's been going well.

3:19

So hopefully we keep a rolling do you and Logan and George kind of

3:24

have a hey, let let me show you what I can do type thing.

3:28

I mean George Co's out and goes six innings, gives up five hits, two runs. Then Logan's unbelievable yesterday. Now you're unbelievable. Do you

3:34

kind of like pass the baton and try to try to pay a little one

3:36

up on the guy that started in front of you? Uh No, not

3:40

really. I mean it's it's fun watching all of us go out and throw.

3:45

You know, every day you got you got somebody that's gonna go out and compete and give you linked and go out and throw throw the ball.

3:51

Well, we're all kind of kind of unique but similar, and it's like

3:55

I said, it's just really fun to go go watch everybody throw and go

4:00

out and compete. Yeah, yeah, definitely. It's it's fun to watch,

4:02

you know them have success and then feel like you got to follow it

4:05

up. Well, four days ago, you guys are six and ten,

4:09

and your skipper came out today and say, we just need to get guys

4:12

off their iPads in the dugout. That's not the bullpen, that's the dugout.

4:15

Maybe it's the hitter's problem, not the pictures problem. But tell me about kind of what was said behind the scenes to kind of get this thing

4:19

sparked the last couple of days. Yeah, I don't. I don't know.

4:27

I saw that on Twitter, actually, but I'm not I'm not in

4:30

the hitters meetings, so I guess I kind of have noticed that there's been

4:34

less iPad But I'm I'm whatever. I'm not pitching. I like to look

4:39

at them sometimes. I like to watch you know, other pictures though,

4:43

or watch you can you can learn a lot from that stuff, but hey,

4:47

whatever, whatever's working. Yeah, did it. Did it feel like

4:49

there was kind of a sense of urgency maybe the last couple of days that

4:54

hey, before this thing kind of gets into a bigger hole, we got

4:57

to figure a way out of this hole. Was there kind of a sense

4:59

of urgency you think during this Red Series? No, I mean, I

5:04

wouldn't say it was anything different. You know, it's it's a long season

5:09

and there's a lot of games, so we're definitely not We're not gonna panic

5:15

in the first fifteen games of the year. So it's uh, you know,

5:17

trust in the process and just go out and compete, you know,

5:21

go one pitch at a time, one at bad at the time, and

5:25

and you know, string together some wins and we're right back in it,

5:28

So it's we definitely weren't weren't in panic mode. Today's winner today, Bryce

5:32

Miller joining us here at Jimmy's on first on ninety three point three KJFM.

5:35

Bryce Softy was mentioning earlier on the show that you have so many dominant outings

5:41

and very few times you'll go out and have rough starts. But there's a

5:44

huge gap between your normal outing and your rough outing. So maybe more so

5:47

than a lot of starting pitchers who are maybe kind of more in the middle.

5:50

What what separates those dominant domino outings that you have like three quarters of

5:55

the time versus the other one quarter that you get roughed up. I'd say,

6:03

you know, just being in good counts is one of the main things.

6:06

You know, it's whatever you dig yourself a whole, you kind of

6:12

you give the hitter an advantage and then you know, letting them letting those

6:15

outings kind of snowballs where like I've gotten in trouble like last year. I

6:19

was. I was cruising last year at the beginning of the year, and

6:21

then I gave up eight against the Yankees and seven against Texas back to back.

6:27

So it was like, yeah, it hit me quick. But it's

6:30

the main thing is like you know, just going out and attacking, getting

6:33

ahead with my stuff and whatever. You know, there's back to back hits

6:39

or hitting a walk, like just trying to shut the ding down and not

6:42

not letting anything snowball and get out of hand. Well, you were amazing

6:45

today, man, and congratulations you've earned a start at Texas next Wednesday in

6:49

the launching pad, you know, Arlington Stadium. So go get him on

6:54

Wednesday against the Rangers. Man, great job tonight, and we'll talk soon.

6:57

Body appreciate him, man, Yes, sir? All right, Bryce

7:00

Miller with us on the radio show. Good to hear from him. After a sensational start for Bryce Miller today against Cincinnati, his last three starts nineteen

7:08

and a third one ear run, a point four to six ERA and a

7:12

point six y two whip for Bryce Miller. How about that? I will

7:15

sign up for that. And now you've got your three best pitchers rolling right

7:18

now, and let's see if you can get Luis up to somewhere close to

7:24

what these guys, other three guys have been. Ah, what do you

7:26

say we come back and hear from the skipper. He told the guys to

7:29

get off the iPads and they listen. Scott's servis a little bit from him

7:32

after today's sweep of the Reds. Next on ninety three to three KJRFM.
