Let's head down to Tampa Bay, Florida right now, joining us on the radio show. Just went number eight to Atlanta. He ties Jake Locker as the highest drafted Husky quarterback of all time. Michael Pennix Junior with us on the radio show. Mike is, Softy, Dick and Hugh in Seattle. How are you, man? I'm doing good. How about y'all? Man? We are doing great. We are so darn happy for you. You should see the smiles on our faces right now, Buddy back here in Seattle. But I gotta be honest with you. I was surprised because of the Falcons just gave Kirk Cousins one hundred million dollars guaranteed and they just drafted you number eight. How surprised were you by that selection? Man? I was a little bit, you know, But you know, I feel like everything happens for a reason, you know, and I feel like I got I was able to put myself in this position, you know, based on all the work that I put in, you know, day in and day out, and obviously you know with the team I had a University of Watchington. I'm just super best to be able to get part of that and now moving on to another organization, wait to make impact guy as well. Have you had any contact with the Falcons? Did you do one of the thirty visits or or or how much of a surprise was it to you and and who who talked to you? And and just share with us with us the nature of the conversations you had with the Falcons. Yeah, I mean we just had a private workout, you know, you dug and it was just the GM, the old Seed, a head coach, and there was a couple other coaches, you know, defensive coaches came. You know, it was it was a great time. You know, we stand about a thirty minute, thirty minute workout and and now that was about it. You know they had to get back on the plane. And did you throw the ball? Now, yes, I did. I threw it as a workout. Talk about coming in right away with Kirk Cousins. I mean, if there was a vote for the best guys in the NFL, Kirk Cousins would be somewhere on that list. You have an opportunity to learn from one of the better veterans in the NFL. Yeah. Man, it's a blessing to be able to do that. You know, so I'm super excited for that part. You know, obviously, like he's been in the league, you know, for a while. You know, he's done a lot of great things in the league. So I'm super excited to be able to make to be able to make make that connection with him and learn from him, and you know, be able to grow and develop that as a player. Mike, I gotta ask you, Roma Dounsday, going directly after you at number nine to Chicago, you tied Jake Locker for the highest drafted the Husky quarterback ever, and then Rome ties John Ross and Reggie Williams for the highest drafted wide receiver ever at Washington. Give us your thoughts on how special that was to go back to back with Rome and byke Mike, by the way, first time since nineteen forty one that U dub had two top ten players in the draft. How special was it for you going back to back with Rome? Man? Absolutely special, you know, obviously, Man, Rome, he did a lot of great things for us at the University of Washington, So for us to go back to back, you know, it's a blessing, man, you know, and I'm super excited for him. I'm super excited. I know, I know he's gonna do great things, you know, but man, I, like I said, I'm excited for it all. So I'm thankful for it, for every everything that, you know, all the opportunities we're presented with Michael Pennix, with us. Mike, you you panned a very heartfelt letter to all, addressed to all the gms around the country. Uh, just kind of just share with us what moved you to do that and did you get any response from any teams? Did you get any response from the Falcons? Just your thoughts about that that beautifully written letter. Yeah, Man, I just wanted to be able to write my own story, you know. I wanted to show my side of the story. You know. Obviously people see it in the news and stuff like that, but they don't really know my words, you know, and you know what I felt, you know, going throughout the whole process. So I wanted to be able to do that, you know, so on that that's what it was all about, you know, to be able to do that. The Falcons and they called me, now, Mike, we know you got to run. I can't tell you how fired up we are for you, man, Super excited, for you. You're a Husky legend for the rest of your life. Now go be a Falcon legend. All right. Best of luck down there in Atlanta. Don't be a stranger. We'll talk sooner, right man, all right, thank you, all right? But Michael Pennix Jr. With us year. How freaking cool is that
