What can be said about this seminal album that hasn't already been said? I'm not entirely sure, but Nick Poffinbarger of Emerald Eye (formerly of Vanlade and Alsatia) and I try to tackle it anyway. It felt wrong for me NOT to do a retro review of this record today considering it's the 40th anniversary of The Number of the Beast. Time flies when you're one of the greatest bands to ever write, record, and perform music.
