Welcome to the Soul Touched by
0:02
Dogs Podcast, the show for
0:05
dog lovers who see dogs not
0:07
as toys or tools, but wise
0:09
souls worth our respect and
0:11
care. I'm an Herrmann, and
0:13
I'm your host. I talk to poor
0:16
some humans, people who
0:18
do great work for dogs and their people.
0:21
So come and join us for today's conversation.
0:25
Hello and welcome, Tim. I'm excited
0:27
to have you here.
0:29
Yeah, I'm excited to be here. Thanks for letting
0:31
me share a little bit about us on, um,
0:33
on your, in front of your audience. I appreciate
0:35
it. Fabulous. Well,
0:37
okay, let's just start out with the question I always
0:40
ask first, like where in the lovely world
0:42
are you and, you know, what's
0:44
your business? What's your business with
0:45
dogs? Right, so
0:48
I probably have the most boring
0:50
answer to the where in the world to a lot of
0:52
people because we're in Iowa, which I love
0:54
Iowa, but we are right in the middle of
0:56
the heartland of the U.
0:58
S. in Iowa, and
1:00
most of our team and everything is
1:03
around core group of the team from
1:05
our company WinPro is in Iowa
1:07
as well. Different parts of it. Um,
1:10
and so to
1:13
answer your question, like, how did, how did WinPro
1:15
kind of like get started
1:18
or? Do you want to just,
1:20
I mean, let's assume people know nothing, you
1:22
know, so there's Tim, we don't know anything about
1:24
him. WinPro, so
1:26
you just thrown it in the air now,
1:29
you know, let us know what that is. And,
1:31
um, you know, who it's for
1:34
and how the hell it came about.
1:36
Yeah, perfect. So. Winpro,
1:39
interestingly enough, is the
1:42
only supplement that is in
1:44
the market available for dogs right
1:46
now, soon to be cats, that is
1:48
made with the core science of
1:50
plasma. And the reason we
1:53
think that that's amazing is because
1:55
we've seen the impacts of plasma and
1:57
all the wonderful things that plasma as
2:00
like a whole body ingredient really
2:02
does. has to offer and benefits for
2:04
animals. Um, and funny
2:06
enough, how it came about, so
2:08
we're in Iowa, and I actually married
2:10
a hog farmer's daughter, so I'm
2:13
pretty acute to, you know, how this
2:15
works. Um, but Iowa State
2:17
University, back in the 80s, they were having a
2:19
terrible mortality rate
2:21
when they were weaning piglets. And
2:24
so this is, I think, like 1983, so
2:27
40 years ago. And they
2:29
tried a lot of different things. They tried environmental
2:31
factors, nutrition, um,
2:33
and nothing seemed to work. And so what they
2:35
ended up, they were working on this spray dried
2:38
plasma matrix, and
2:40
they ended up introducing that into
2:42
the, um, starter diet. And
2:45
that had a dramatic, um,
2:47
impact on reducing the mortality rate.
2:50
And what they found out was the
2:52
stress of that situation
2:54
was causing so much inflammation that that
2:56
was actually the problem. And
2:59
so that science, um,
3:02
was remarkable and at the
3:04
time, right? And so it's, it's really
3:06
been around in every species.
3:08
So it started in, um, for
3:10
pigs and then it was in cattle
3:13
and then it was in all the, all the livestock
3:15
and feeding animals, you know, poultry.
3:17
Goats, lambs, and then it made
3:19
its way into
3:22
performance racehorses. And
3:25
the interesting thing about the performance racehorses
3:27
is that's where our founder, Bill
3:29
Bernardo, was introduced
3:31
to it. He was tasked with, um,
3:34
developing a supplement line
3:36
for performance racehorses, and
3:38
I don't know if you know this Anke, but the performance
3:41
racehorses are super stressed.
3:43
Like that's, that's like a, like one of
3:46
the most stressed animals out there. And
3:48
so they have this thing that it's called,
3:50
um, bleed, bleeders, and that's
3:52
when they just stress too much inflammation,
3:55
they bleed out their nose. And so they were looking
3:57
for a product that could, um, you know,
3:59
just really benefit the performance of
4:01
the, um, the animal. And
4:03
so what, um,
4:06
Bill was tasked at was developing
4:08
that product. Well, they did that
4:11
and they had remarkable results, but
4:13
the problem was, is Bill was really
4:15
not very comfortable around horses.
4:18
And yet he had five dogs at
4:20
home. Crazy dog
4:22
guy, you know, crazy. And it takes a crazy
4:24
dog person to start a company like
4:27
this, right? Um, and
4:29
so he said, what
4:31
if the science can translate
4:34
into canine world? And
4:36
there was no reason why it shouldn't. It had been through so many
4:38
other species. So he really just
4:40
took the leap of faith, took that same science
4:42
and developed Winfro with the,
4:45
the core motto is like, plasma
4:47
is the secret. Let's
4:49
put that into a product that can
4:51
really benefit dogs.
4:54
It's fascinating. Um, I mean,
4:57
one thing I'm curious about, what
5:00
sort of the range of application, like
5:02
what, you know, the inflammation, you mentioned
5:04
that, you know, so in what circumstances
5:07
would somebody say, well, I need
5:09
this? And the other thing I'm curious
5:11
about is like, why
5:14
isn't everyone using
5:15
that? Right.
5:18
Well, everyone is. It's just
5:20
not in dogs. Like they, you know,
5:22
in every other type of, you know,
5:24
medical application you think about.
5:27
Um, did you ever watch a show Mash?
5:29
Maybe? You know, I do like, yeah, vaguely.
5:32
Yeah. I mean, the first thing
5:34
that they bring a wounded, um,
5:36
soldier in, the first thing they do is hook 'em up to
5:38
a bag of plasma. Um,
5:40
and we've done injections with plasma
5:43
in the human, you know, in the human
5:45
medical field. And
5:47
the reason
5:51
nobody else is doing it, I don't know.
5:53
There are a few people that are starting
5:55
to, it's starting to really pick up traction.
5:57
We were the first. I think part
6:00
of that is It's easier
6:02
to sell a product that you
6:05
don't have to educate around. You know, you
6:07
don't have to have real
6:09
science around. And, you
6:11
know, plasma could be something
6:14
that is polarizing to a certain
6:16
audience. It can also be something that draws
6:18
them in because they know that, wow, there's real
6:20
science behind and real value
6:22
in what the proteins in plasma
6:24
do. have to offer. So I think it's, I think
6:27
we were just early on it to be honest
6:29
with you. And now some pet food companies are
6:31
doing, adding a small amount.
6:34
Um, and we're still
6:36
really the only ones that are doing, um, orally
6:38
fed plasma in the form of a soft
6:40
chew. And there's definitely more coming, um,
6:42
because the science is changing. is starting to prove out
6:45
and we've been educating the world
6:47
about it for since 2017.
6:50
So they're coming, they're coming for sure. But
6:53
it's really challenging to work with because
6:55
it's not like any other ingredient. It's a very active
6:57
ingredient.
7:00
I mean, could
7:02
this, I mean, is there like a limit? I mean, could this even
7:04
be produced? Like to say, well,
7:07
that it's the first thing people go to,
7:09
you know, say if, if You
7:11
know, any dog anywhere has like joint
7:14
problems. If everybody goes, oh my god, I need
7:16
plasma, like Would
7:18
we run out of it or like is there a limit
7:20
to it
7:21
or? That's a really
7:23
good question. I at this point they're
7:25
really um, there isn't
7:27
there isn't a limit but with anything if you you
7:29
bring enough people into the market
7:32
it really probably changes the way it's
7:34
Um, how
7:36
you, how you get the plasma, you
7:38
know, I, that, that's a really good question.
7:40
I'm sure that that would be a challenge at
7:42
some, at some point. It's like, you know,
7:45
like a little bit like with electric cars, like it's kind
7:47
of cute when there's a few, but if you imagine every
7:49
single car on earth
7:51
would be run electric, like that would be
7:54
probably a bigger problem than we have now. Right. It's
7:56
like, that's sort of where my mind went with that.
7:58
Yeah. Um, but it's really
8:01
like, we're starting to get a lot of. Veterinarians
8:05
really pushing
8:08
like, hey, this is an alternative option
8:11
there to what our current
8:13
treatment plan is, if it's not working, and
8:15
we've had a lot of a lot of success
8:18
being drawn into vet offices. with
8:21
a product because they really get the science.
8:23
They just, they just haven't been
8:25
exposed to the orally fed plasma.
8:27
It's always been an injection. Um,
8:30
and we're the first ones to develop
8:32
that, you know, in a soft tube that we can actually
8:34
use. Well,
8:36
I mean, it seems to me like the easier way, because
8:38
then they'll do the educating for you, like they'd
8:40
be easier to educate because they already understand
8:43
the science behind
8:45
it. Yeah, they get it quick.
8:47
And then
8:48
if I go to the, you know, if I go
8:50
to the vet and the vet goes, look, this is what you've
8:52
got to do, then this is what we're going to do, right?
8:54
Yeah. You know, it's really interesting. Like
8:56
we had just a testimony the other day
8:58
that said, My vet wants
9:01
to look at your product and this happens quite often.
9:03
And I said, well, what happened? Well, they were going
9:06
in there with their dog and the current treatment
9:08
wasn't working. And they were
9:10
kind of out of like the standard options.
9:13
And so they left 60 days later,
9:15
they returned and the dog, the,
9:18
the vet was like, what happened? Because
9:20
the dog jumped up on the table
9:22
and before it could, you know, like barely kind
9:24
of walk in the office and they were like, well,
9:26
we found Wintrow and,
9:28
um, and, and we hear that
9:31
often, like very, very often.
9:34
Um, and so that's what really the vet looks
9:36
at it and the right vet will be like, I want
9:38
to have this as an option because it really does
9:40
benefit the dog.
9:43
So what would be typical, um,
9:45
you know, symptoms or situations?
9:48
When you think like, oh,
9:50
I need this for my dog. Or would
9:52
you say, would you use a preventative? Like,
9:55
would it be a good idea to, you
9:57
know, like how we take supplements? Like you don't need
9:59
a real serious problem to,
10:01
you know, to say, well, Hey, let me get someone to really,
10:04
You know, whatever
10:05
it is, but what's your talk? No, so
10:08
that's, that's a really good question because we started
10:10
because it works so well
10:12
for the right situation that
10:15
it's a real remedy. So people
10:17
typically have come to us with problems,
10:19
right? A problem that maybe they've tried
10:21
a lot of different things and it didn't work, or
10:23
maybe they're not quite seeing the results. So
10:25
our, like, number one product is our allergy
10:27
product. It really works.
10:30
Changes, you know, obviously the itching
10:32
and stuff, but like hot spots and skin
10:34
issues and irritations. It really does
10:36
a great job with that. Um, and
10:38
then hip and joint, that's a very visual
10:41
product, still remedy for the most part,
10:43
um, are calming and
10:45
there's so much separation, anxiety and,
10:48
um, anxious dog. Now, especially,
10:50
um, out of the adoption world and the
10:52
rescue world, it seems like there's a lot
10:54
of that, um, that's going on. And
10:57
then we just added in the last,
11:01
some preventative products. And I'll tell you why
11:03
it's, it's important to think
11:05
about preventative, because the way our
11:07
product works. We're not
11:09
trying to, um, boost
11:11
your nutrition in any way. It's has
11:13
nothing to do with nutrition. Um,
11:16
all we're doing is plasma
11:18
is nature's natural
11:21
enemy to inflammation. And
11:23
so with all the stressors and everything that
11:25
are on our dogs nowadays, noise,
11:28
chemicals from the house, you
11:31
know, just whatever,
11:33
you know, people, situations,
11:35
all of these things. Those
11:37
stressors cause inflammation somewhere. Now,
11:41
the question is, your body is, the body
11:43
can handle, like, we're designed to handle
11:45
and inflammation is not necessarily a bad thing.
11:48
The problem is when
11:50
it becomes excessive
11:52
because it's unable to resolve itself
11:54
because of all the certain stressors. And
11:56
sometimes it could be diet, sometimes it could be chemicals.
11:59
So, Winpro's promise is really,
12:02
That we return the dog
12:04
to normal and the dog
12:06
then heals itself.
12:09
Like we're not trying, it's, we just
12:11
want the dog system to
12:13
be able to handle the
12:16
stuff that it's supposed to be able to handle and
12:18
when they're normal, they're perfect, you know, right?
12:20
Like no different than us. We have a normal
12:23
gut. That's a perfect gut. There
12:25
is no, we don't need
12:27
to boost anything. We are just returning
12:29
it to normal so that their, their system
12:32
can heal itself. And that's what I think is really,
12:34
really cool about that. Would
12:38
it be kind of
12:39
far fetched to think that that
12:42
could also help with like behavior issues
12:44
because of like, from what I learned from
12:46
my recent summit is that a lot of
12:48
it is, you know, like underlying
12:51
or part of, of what's going on that
12:53
the dog's not comfortable in pain
12:54
somehow. Oh my
12:56
gosh. Yeah. So that. So that happens,
13:00
we, the lightbulb
13:02
moment I had kind of around this conversation
13:04
was when a trainer was using our
13:07
calming product. And I thought, oh, that must
13:09
be an anxious dog, you know, but
13:11
they said, no, a dog can't really
13:14
accept training if they're in any type
13:16
of pain or discomfort
13:19
because they're always trying to protect themselves.
13:22
From being hurt,
13:24
you know, and I thought, wow, that's really
13:26
interesting. I never thought of it like that. And then over, you
13:28
know, over time, you know, realize
13:31
that. You know, we can say, hey,
13:33
my, my shoulders hurt a little bit today,
13:35
so I'm, I'm not going to do this thing. Um,
13:39
but the, you know, a dog, they
13:41
speak to us in different ways, obviously, but they're
13:43
really, if that's happening, they,
13:46
their behavior changes because they're just protecting
13:48
themselves. Um,
13:50
and I've got a really quick story about
13:53
why I'm here. It kind of goes
13:55
along this lines a little bit. I, I
13:57
married, um, into
13:59
a Chihuahua when I first got married.
14:01
And I just make a joke of that because I'm more of a big
14:04
dog guy, but I ended up loving,
14:06
but
14:09
I ended up loving Roxy. She
14:11
was like the greatest dog ever. Well,
14:13
at some point she had just
14:15
stopped jumping on the couch and the bed.
14:18
And, you know, a little dog like that jumping
14:20
up on the bed and the couch is like us
14:23
two storied building type of thing. So
14:25
it really, you know, worn our joints. And,
14:28
but I also grew up in a generation where
14:30
the dog used to be outside,
14:32
then it got maybe a doghouse
14:35
outside, then it maybe got let
14:37
in when it was like 30 degrees below,
14:40
then, you know, now we're sleeping with
14:42
them. So I didn't really know anything
14:44
about supplements or, you know, Anything
14:47
outside of food, I guess. And
14:49
so, a friend
14:51
of mine who's an investor in WinPro here
14:53
in Iowa said, hey, we're, this
14:55
is a cool company that's doing this science
14:58
from out of state. If, um, you
15:00
know, give Roxy these, you know, hip and joint shoots. And I
15:02
really just kind of was like, yeah, okay, you know,
15:04
whatever. But then when I ran
15:06
out of, I think, her milk bones at the time,
15:08
I gave her these twos and within 15
15:10
days she was jumping all over the house,
15:13
bed, couch. In fact,
15:15
we get this a lot too. We returned her to
15:17
normal for what, for
15:19
her age, right? It's not like she got a, she
15:22
wasn't a puppy again, but she got her good
15:24
legs at the age she was. Um,
15:27
and sometimes people will email us and be
15:29
like, Hey, you know what? Great product.
15:31
I didn't realize how much I liked them a little,
15:34
like with a little less of
15:36
themself because I'd gotten used
15:38
to the, you know, the new situation. Um,
15:41
but we found out like it was aha, because
15:43
she could always make that jump. She
15:46
was just choosing not to, and
15:48
then eventually new patterns get started.
15:50
People pick, pick, pick their animals
15:52
up. They carry, you know, and,
15:54
um, and I thought, wow, how cool would it be
15:56
to, to work with a company that had such.
16:00
a possible transformation for,
16:02
you know, for an, for a dog. And, and it
16:04
was like, it was just really, really cool.
16:07
That's wonderful. Yeah. Well,
16:10
my question is like, so do you ship internationally?
16:15
We're, we're, we're trying to, we're
16:17
trying to, it's a challenge. It's a challenge.
16:20
Yeah. I
16:20
mean, I know it's like, it's not easy, but I think it would,
16:22
you know, well, yeah. Yeah,
16:25
and I think there are a lot of other countries
16:27
that are a little more open
16:29
to plasma science than,
16:31
than maybe even, even the U. S.
16:34
at this time, but it's, it's coming on, like
16:36
they get, I think, especially Germany,
16:38
Germany has like a, um, amazing
16:41
team. science around
16:43
some of that stuff that they just kind of get
16:45
how powerful that can be.
16:49
So we talk allergies, we've got like
16:51
joint issues. Is there anything
16:53
else that really stands out where people
16:55
would usually, um, come
16:58
to you from? And do you have people
17:00
who go, well, look, you know, my dog's young,
17:02
my dog's healthy. I just want
17:04
to kind of, you know, prevent
17:07
and make sure they stay as long. I mean, who do people,
17:09
you know, like for our own health, we don't
17:11
tend to do it. People
17:13
always go to the, you know, crash
17:16
course when, when shit's already hit the farm.
17:18
So I don't know, but people for the dogs tend
17:20
to be more, you know, I don't know. What's,
17:23
what's your experience
17:23
there? Yeah, so it's
17:26
actually kind of funny people, you
17:28
know, pet parents tend to worry
17:30
about their animals and more
17:33
than they do themselves sometimes, you know,
17:35
like they'll read every ingredient on
17:37
a dog product, but then carry
17:40
a bag of McDonald's with them and
17:43
care less about what, you know, they're eating
17:45
sometimes. Um, but we
17:47
do have like Daisy,
17:49
my dog, she gets
17:51
our probiotic Prebiotic
17:54
plasma powder that we just,
17:56
it's a topper for the food. And,
17:58
and she's, and she's like two. And
18:01
that, that's a really, that feels really
18:03
good to get those probiotics and prebiotics
18:05
in there. And then also, you know, the right amount of,
18:08
in my world, plasma. Um,
18:10
and then the other thing that we have that's
18:13
on the preventative side, that is, um,
18:15
a functional dental stick. And
18:18
it's really interesting because I didn't
18:20
really believe that was the product that was going
18:22
to make sense because there's no scraping
18:25
there is. It's not, you know, it's not,
18:27
it's not meant to like scrape
18:29
anything off teeth. So it just, it kind
18:32
of just didn't make sense to me. But
18:34
the science around plasma has
18:37
proven that, you know, a
18:39
lot of the dental and oral
18:42
issues are from bacteria,
18:44
inflammation, and the gum lining,
18:47
which creates a lot of problems. Well,
18:50
when you let the plasma kind of
18:52
work its way in there for 15
18:55
to 20 seconds, it really
18:57
keeps, like in every other part of the body,
19:00
the mouth really healthy. Well, when you keep a mouth
19:02
healthy The teeth are whiter,
19:04
the breath is fresher. And
19:06
I I'm still amazed by that, to be honest
19:09
with you, because it just, it's still, I brush
19:11
my teeth every day. So just to think you
19:13
can just put something in your mouth, um,
19:15
that has such a profound impact is,
19:17
is pretty cool. And, and that the dental, our
19:19
dental stick has, has really
19:22
had that impact. So those are the two
19:24
that are kind of, um, I'm really excited about.
19:26
And then we're also getting into the cat world because
19:28
the science really proves that out. So we're going
19:30
to start with the meal topper. And
19:32
then also a dental bite for cats
19:34
because they have really challenging,
19:37
um, dental.
19:40
So do dogs
19:40
like it? Yeah.
19:43
They love it. They got old up? Yeah, they
19:45
got old up. Most dogs do.
19:48
Fascinating. I think it's totally fascinating. Never,
19:51
I've never even heard that this is the
19:53
thing. Like, and I think that's where, where the biggest
19:56
workers in the sense that education piece,
19:58
right?
19:59
It is. Yeah. It is. That's
20:01
why you and I are talking. I
20:02
was just thinking like, if somebody wants to
20:04
educate themselves further and say, Oh, that
20:07
sounds interesting. You know, where can they go find
20:09
out more? Where can they, can they go
20:11
and get some?
20:12
Yeah, so the best place,
20:14
we're really in three main areas.
20:17
So our website, winpropet.
20:19
com, W I N P R
20:21
O P E T dot com, and I'll give you all
20:23
these links and show notes and stuff. Yeah, of course,
20:25
there goes show notes. And under here if
20:28
you, wherever you're watching. Yeah. Yeah.
20:30
And, um, we're, I've got
20:32
a coupon set up for your listeners
20:35
for, um, 20% off of first
20:37
purchase, which is Soul 20
20:40
SOUL 20. And
20:43
then you can also buy on Amazon. Chewy
20:46
over here are the main ones, and I,
20:49
I, I'll say this too. It's
20:51
definitely, you know, we have 100
20:53
percent money back guarantee, and
20:55
most people, most people do what they should do, but
20:57
we also understand that not every dog is
20:59
going to eat it. We also
21:02
understand that it may not have a transformative
21:04
result, you know, for every dog,
21:07
but when it does, It's amazing.
21:10
So it's like worth the, it's worth,
21:12
it's worth trying. Um,
21:15
and we don't even ask you to ship anything
21:17
back. So it's literally, if you buy
21:19
it, give it a shot. And
21:22
if it doesn't work out, you just email
21:24
us and that's it. You don't have
21:26
to have any hassle.
21:28
I mean, the worst thing, the worst thing that
21:30
can happen is that nothing happens. So
21:33
it's not that like, Ooh, my dog now
21:35
has diarrhea. Like, actually, this is funny
21:37
because, because like my first
21:39
dog, my, my mom would buy him these
21:42
dental sticks, you know, from the shop
21:44
and he'd like, no, like
21:46
he would, they would not get down and go down
21:48
well at all. Like he literally like, yeah,
21:51
no. So, I mean, you
21:53
know, so if nothing is the worst that can happen,
21:56
then it's,
21:56
it's definitely a good try. Yeah.
21:59
So we want to make it as easy as possible to try.
22:02
Awesome. Awesome. So we'll pop the
22:04
link and the coupon. Thanks so much. And
22:07
thanks so much for coming and like, you
22:09
know, like sharing this because I think people
22:11
need to know about it. And, uh,
22:13
so we'll, we'll do what we can to spread
22:15
the word.
22:16
Yeah. Well, I appreciate it very much. The opportunity
22:19
to share it. So thank you.
