Genesis tells us that God made us in His image, and this language is so powerful because it is language of identity. Knowing ourselves begins by knowing God, and we were made to be fully secure in how God made us and to walk with Him in honesty and confidence. Yet a carefully crafted question plants a deathly idea into the Garden of Life- that God is not trustworthy. “Did God really say?” And this question is one that Adam and Eve allow to take root. Then, when they heard the One they used to walk with, their instinct was to hide from Him rather than confide in Him. This is what sin does to our relationship with God. And God’s response is to ask them a question we all need to answer. “Where are you?”From the beginning God has always been looking for those He loves. Reversing the curse of shame begins by surrendering our futile attempts to cover our shame and stepping into God’s life-giving Spirit of freedom.Speaker: Kyle Idleman
