Ut Benedicat Tibi Deus

Questions Covered:

02.10 - Does the Christian faith clash with science? Can science ever prove that the Bible or Church teaching is false? Has it already done so?

13.20 -  Many people believe that "all religions are equally valid." Can a Catholic hold that point of view?

22.00 - Christian teaching seems to assume that the universe was created by God for man and that Jesus' redemptive work was a special act for the benefit of man. Does this mean that man is alone in the universe? Pope Francis once said that “he would have no qualms about baptizing aliens”, (May, 2013) but wouldn't the appearance of aliens prove that man is not special in the universe and therefore that Christian teaching is wrong? Did Jesus shed His precious blood for aliens too? Are aliens also subject to original sin, or was the corruption of original sin limited to our globe? And, if the answer is "well, there's no proof that aliens exist," doesn't that mean that the first evidence of other intelligent life in the universe--evidence that could come in our lifetimes--will mean that we have to fundamentally re-think our Christian faith?

29.00 - The Bible seems to contain contradictions. For example, Matthew 27 has Judas dying by hanging himself, and Acts 1 has him buying a potter's field and falling headlong in it with his intestines bursting out. Accounts of the Resurrection are even more difficult to reconcile one to the other. Does the Bible contain contradictions? If your answer is no, isn't the only way to reconcile accounts by forcing differing accounts into reconciliation in unnatural ways--in ways that we would never think credible if someone else tried them in another context? And if your answer is yes, what does that mean for the Bible's authority?

40.33 - If God is outside of time is Jesus always suffering His passion?
