I came back to the office from vacation a day early.  I know I probably should not have, but my logic sounded clear inside my head: I was getting antsy since coming back from my visit from Collin, and I thought that if I came back a day sooner I could get a jump on the pile of things waiting for me. Doing so, or so I thought, would make my Thursday easier insert sarcastic laughter here.  What I was really hoping to do was to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.

It's not uncommon after either a big event or a sudden change in routine:  We want things to get back to normal as soon as possible; we desire the familiar and comfortable.  We need the stability.

But, what happens when things can never go "back to normal?"

This Sunday, the Gospel of John presents us yet another of Jesus' post Easter appearances to his disciples, this time while they are fishing.  That's right, after all the disciples had been through, even after being presented the gift of the Holy Spirit, they chose to go back to their old way of life - their former vocation.  They were hoping for things to simply go back to normal.  But can they?  Can things ever be normal after one stands in the presence of the resurrected Christ?
