Symptoms of this include headaches, watery and painful eyes, sensitivity to bright light,
0:05
blurry or distorted vision, the occurrence of new blind spots, and a
0:09
difficulty to differentiate between colors. The harm division can be temporary, and swelling
0:14
in the eye may go down, but the damage can be permanent. Sunday
0:25
afternoons stirling stepping in alex Egan producing any Gleason, roaming around trying to make
0:32
sense of well, how to stare at the sun tomorrow and totality in the
0:36
tri State, the Miami Valley, the Bluegrass parts of Indiana southwest. That
0:42
sun and moon interaction a celestial happening for millions and millions of people, cutting
0:49
a swath across the United States from our northeast to the southwest. I have
0:53
friends in Texas very excited, millions expected to make their way to the path
0:59
of shade. Well, a universal three hundred and sixty degree sunset in full
1:07
totality, and you're not supposed to stare at the sun without a number twelve
1:11
welding shield, which by the way, is hard to find and may cost
1:15
you like an arm, a leg, a kidney, or a testicle.
1:17
They're not cheap. Is what I'm trying to tell you? How you doing?
1:19
Sterling stepping in Sunday afternoon, Reds Baseball later looking to make it the
1:25
third series win of this very young twenty twenty four season. Coming up a
1:30
little bit later, The inside Pitch gets you ready for Reds and Mechs first
1:34
pitch one p forty coming up after the twelve thirty report Santa Collins with News.
1:40
In about twenty minutes or so, we'll get you ready for Reds Baseball.
1:44
Should be a good one. I have to ask you at this point,
1:48
are you prepared? Do you have a plan if you are working tomorrow?
1:53
Are you getting time off, taking a break, planning to look up
1:57
into the sky with those special glasses not knockoff glasses you bought online that you're
2:01
not if you look through what do you want to call them? I guess
2:07
I protectors. They look like three D glasses. They are definitely not that.
2:12
If they are the right kind, then you will not be able to
2:15
see much of anything while wearing those. I mean, like mostly nothing unless
2:21
you're looking directly at like an old school incandescent light bulb or maybe the sun
2:25
itself, and you're not really supposed to do that much at all. I
2:30
had a kid when I was in EJ. Brown Elementary School, Derek Scales.
2:34
That kid randomly would just stare at the sun. And I remember there
2:38
was an eclipse when we were in kindergarten, Miss lugummules class. We had
2:43
these little pin holes looked like sort of like a pinhole camera thing, but
2:46
it was a way to reflect that eclipse that happened. They brought us all
2:50
outside, which now I think a bunch of five and six year old kids.
2:53
We didn't even have glasses. I don't know what they were thinking. They had all these boxes. Some parents showed up. It was like that
2:59
scene from mad Men, but not as cool with the teacher because Miss Lugummuele
3:01
was about two hundred and eighty six years old at least my five year old
3:05
sterling mind. And we would look into the box which had a piece of
3:09
paper which show the reflection, which is nothing like the technology we have today
3:15
available is what it's going to look like. I'm curious if you run a
3:19
business, if you're working tomorrow, are you going to give your staff time
3:23
to take a look and gaze into the sky or in today's world, are
3:27
you fearful that there might be some liability issues if for some reason you say,
3:30
hey, yeah, go ahead take a look outside, and then they
3:34
say, well he let us out or she let us out, and say
3:37
we could look at the sun and now our eyes burn out of our skull. Then what And here is one little bit of audio for you to check
3:46
out. I'm not sure which the one this is. There's a friend of
3:50
mine in New York who sent me some audio going back to twenty seventeen when
3:55
we had something like this going on, but it wasn't quite as spectacle.
4:00
Is what we'll see in the Trice day. Check this out. In nineteen seventy nine, Chris Reese of Winfield was in fifth grade when his class watched
4:05
an eclipse. He says his teacher told him not to look directly at it,
4:10
but he didn't listen. But I decided I would just close my left
4:14
eye and just look up at the sun. And I could see it happening that way, and I was just I thought everything was fine. But over
4:20
you know, the next couple of days, I started noticing, you know,
4:24
something wasn't right with my eye. A trip to an eye doctor confirmed
4:28
Reese had burned a hole in his retina. He says, this is what
4:30
he sees in his right eye now, a great spot obscuring his vision.
4:35
Says his mother was not happy. She just looked him and said, you
4:40
dummy, you dummy. It was just kind of a lesson learned, a
4:44
permanent lesson learned. It can be a lifelong consequence. And of that's right
4:47
now. When an eclipse is on the horizon, reesekes to spread the word
4:51
about the importance of safely viewing the event. He says he wouldn't want anyone
4:56
to miss it, but he also wouldn't want anyone to make the mistake.
5:00
I'll be out working Monday, but I'll stop. I'll stop and look,
5:03
and I'll use the glasses. That's a good idea. Using the glasses is
5:08
a good idea. I got a couple of pairs from the museum. They
5:11
were like two bucks each. I know they are a bunch of them online.
5:13
I got a neighbor of mine. It'll be like Eddie and Rocky. They're doing the show tomorrow afternoon in full totality or damn near it anyway.
5:20
In and after Eddie and Rocky at Rocky's house in the driveway I don't know
5:25
if he's actually they talked about selling parking spots. I have a neighbor who
5:29
he comes to me. It was it yesterday or Friday. I'm walking the
5:31
dog as I often do because he's got to go and we're out there and
5:35
he's like, hey, Sterling going to be around. I'm like, yeah,
5:38
I'll be around working. And he's like, dude, I got some
5:41
cones we can sell or rent the parking spots on the street in front of
5:45
our houses. I'm like, I don't think you can legally do that. He says, what are they gonna do. They're gonna be busy with the
5:48
eclipse. I'm like, seriously. He goes yeah, and he says we're
5:51
krelling. I got ribs, and I guess he's got some chicken and stuff.
5:55
So I don't know if he's planning on selling that to the masses,
5:58
if they're making a pilgrimage to our part of the world in the midst of
6:02
the spectacular happening, if you will, a celestial event is what it is.
6:09
I've just I got to remind myself even with the glasses that I know
6:12
are the right ones and not knockoffs, which you got to make sure they're
6:15
not knockoffs. There's numbers on there which you'll hear again in the news what
6:19
you have to look for. And if you can see through them, they're
6:24
not good that much, I know, because you shouldn't be able to see
6:28
them and unless effectively like you're staring at the sun, and even then it's
6:30
not going to be real bright, if you know what I'm saying. I'm
6:33
just trying to look out for you and all the preparation. Governor Dwane you
6:38
have heard, has put the National Guard on standby. They will be ready
6:43
in case. I guess the worst happens, or traffic turns into more of
6:46
a nightmare than is expected. And I guess the other thing that goes along
6:51
with this is the concern in the worry. Whether it's the State Patrol,
6:57
whether it's Cincinnati Police, I'm Norwood, whatever it is. Pick one someplace
7:01
from here, you know, all the way down to the southwest up north.
7:05
I think Piqua, Zenia, Troy Tips City parts further on. I
7:12
have friends in New Hampshire and Vermont. There's a place in Vermont that's a
7:15
skier resort this time of year. They have nine hundred rooms, most of
7:18
which is sit empty because not as much snow is hanging around here as we
7:24
are now into April. But they are sold out tonight at five hundred dollars
7:30
a night, nine hundred rooms tomorrow about half full. Apparently normally, I'm
7:36
told they're lucky to have maybe eighty to one hundred rooms of the nine hundred
7:42
that are actually full. That's a lot of people. And they'll be here
7:46
in the Tri State, in the Miami Valley, in and around as well.
7:49
And you just hope they don't stop in the middle of like seventy one
7:53
or two seventy five. Speaking of which, Kathleen Fuller conversation I had with
7:58
her, You go, who is that. That's the information officer. She
8:03
knows what's up, and she's from ODOT, Ohio Department of Transportation, Cincinnati.
8:07
On the other side, we'll hear their plan for the eclipse. If
8:11
you've seen the overhead signs, it says prepare tomorrow. It's here. We'll
8:16
get dirt on that in just a couple moments. Hang out more Sterling before
8:18
Red's baseball on a beautiful Sunday afternoon for it here in the Tri State on
8:24
the Nation Station seven hundred WLW the Great North American Total Solar Eclipse. What
8:31
will you do during our three minutes of daytime darkness. I'm gonna see if
8:35
that evil clown comes out from under my bed again and beat him with a shoe if he does. Now you're talking, I'm gonna put on my glow
8:41
in the Dark lingerie and give my husband a light show. I'm sure he'll
8:43
give you a standing ovation. You better. The eclipse is coming, so
8:48
I'm gonna take a power nap and dream about Washingville Cunningham's hair. Hey,
8:52
that's what I'm gonna do. We're helping you make the most of it. On seven hundred W l JEW with cost great day for baseball, down a
9:00
gabp and on the Big one twelve forty we'll get into the inside pitch,
9:03
first pitch one seventy six Tomorrow, a little bit of suntime. They say,
9:09
partly cloudy. But I'm an optimist, but I think I'm contractually obligated
9:11
to read. The forecast has written Monday, partly cloudy, seventy six,
9:15
sixty six showers Tuesday. Right now, it's already a ball ME fifty eighth
9:18
or severe Weather Station seven hundred WLW Glad you're long. Talk to Kathleen Fuller
9:24
from Ohio Department of Transportation, Cincinnati Division. I think it's eight. If
9:30
I'm not mistaken. They haven't counted down in numbers that it matters, but
9:33
you know, for like filing purposes, I suppose either way. I asked
9:37
her about the eclipse and the plan, And if you're driving around right now
9:41
on the way to the ballgame or wherever else after church, whatever you got
9:45
going on, it's beautiful Sunday, you may see those overhead signs that normally
9:48
tell you about like crashes and redirecting your traffic and buckling up or whatever else
9:54
they're telling you. Get a plan for the eclipse. They have one.
9:58
Here's what she had to say about what they're going to keep us all safe.
10:01
So we have been actually talking about this for two years now. We've
10:03
been actually planted been under the way underway for us because you know, there's
10:07
a lot that has to go into it. You know, we have to
10:09
think about construction projects and like making sure that planned notes are in there for
10:15
the contractors. Also, are the permits with the utility company that we issue
10:18
that there are planned notes saying you cannot be doing you know, some of
10:22
the work that you're doing. You need to make sure you do not have
10:24
any restrictions in place. Obviously, you know the norwoodlateral, it's going to
10:28
be closed. We know that that would not pertain to this. But we've
10:33
been talking about this for two years now and one of the things, Yes,
10:35
we are concerned about motor of safety. We know there's going to be
10:39
a significant impact to traffic. We know they're going to I mean, I
10:43
don't even know what the last count at the number of people that they're anticipating
10:46
coming to Ohio, you know, people from out of state that are traveling
10:50
in. So we know that there's going to be a tremendous amount of traffic,
10:54
and we do have concerns about people just stopping on a roadway watch the
11:00
eclipse, and that we do not want them to do. We want people
11:03
to we want traffic just to keep moving. We don't want anyone to stop
11:05
because of course that would be incredibly dangerous. But yeah, we're we're we've
11:09
been taking a long, hard look at this and we do have some plans
11:13
in place for operations as far as what we're going to be doing leading up
11:16
to it and during the time of the eclipse. How weird would it be.
11:20
I can just see like the photos you remember, all the old pictures
11:24
of the nuclear test out around, like say the Nevada Desert in Las Vegas,
11:28
where people leave the casino, have a cocktail and just look up into
11:31
the sky and watch the mushroom cloud. For some reason, I just see
11:35
people sort of like during you know, the Western and Southern WEBN fireworks where
11:39
they're like, please don't stop on you know, seventy five and seventy one
11:43
or whatever it is, and then have people just g you know, gazing
11:48
up into the scars, stars or the fireworks in that case. Here looking
11:50
at the sun, I just see people with like you know, the three
11:54
D looking glasses to protect their eyes hopefully the right glasses or welder's massn't mask,
12:01
you know, just gazing upward and then not be stuck behind these freaks.
12:05
I mean, you know, you got to pick your spots in life, That's all I'm saying. Right and we we we are hoping that because
12:11
people want to see this and want to watch it, they've already have their
12:15
plans in place, whether they're traveling to a particular part. I don't know
12:20
a parking lot, I don't know where it would be. Whatever their plans
12:22
are, that they stick to their plans. Get there in advance, get
12:26
there early, plan to stay late. You know, you're you're If you
12:31
get back on the road after this is over, it's just going to be
12:33
a bottle necks of traffic. But while it's going on during that that where
12:37
it comes into Ohio during the afternoon on the eighth, the people already have
12:41
their plans in place and that they basically stay put. And like I said,
12:45
get there early, and not to be traveling. If you are planning
12:48
to be a spectator and you want to watch this, don't be on the
12:52
road driving while it's happening. I can't. We can't stress that enough because
12:56
it's going to be really dangerous for people who are just you know, just
13:00
oh, I'm going to look up at the eclipse. It's cool, and they're driving along the road and just happen to stop because the person behind them
13:05
may not happen to stop. And you got to remember that you cannot there's
13:09
no predictability about what anybody's going to do on a roadway at any given time.
13:13
And this is one of those occasions where you know it's happening to prepare,
13:16
plan ahead. It's a different kind of distracted driving. I guess we're
13:20
talking about Kathleen Fuller. Thank you as always, the PIO public Information Officer.
13:26
I love the acronyms from ODOTT Ohio Department of Transportation here in Cincinnati.
13:30
All right, more sterling coming back seven hundred ww So there you go.
13:33
That was a conversation I had with her the other day talking about issues with
13:37
the eclipse tomorrow, excuse me, which we're all going to get to experience.
13:41
Last night, I f C Cincinnati took one on the chin. They
13:45
fell two to one to the New York Red Bulls. I think now they
13:48
are twelve points in the East and the New York Red Bulls leading with the
13:52
fourteen. If I'm not mistaken, next one up for them. They'll be
13:56
on the road next Saturday night at Montreal. What else is going on?
14:00
Women's National College Basketball Championship Iowa Caitlin, of course, and South Carolina.
14:07
Iowa and South Carolina getting on three o'clock tip off. I think, if
14:11
I'm not mistaken, that's ESPN fifteen thirty. Yeah, likee Hen says,
14:15
Yes, I'm right. Once in a while I do get it right. And the Meds Final going to be Purdue in yukon Monday night with a nine
14:22
to twenty tip off, so that there is that as well, so that
14:26
to look forward to. Yesterday was the Jake Frayley bobblehead and today I believe
14:33
it's Matt McClain's bobblehead giveaway at the Reds game. So that's kind of nice
14:37
to be able to get those a lot of ground to cover during the inside
14:41
pitch, we will talk about Ellie de la Cruz and to his streak of
14:46
hitting safely in this very young season. So much more ground to cover to
14:50
get you ready for Reds and Mets as they look to make another a winning
14:54
series for this young season at this point. But they got business to take
14:58
care of the afternoon in relation to that, and we'll get you ready for
15:01
it coming up after your twelve thirty report. Whatever happens tomorrow, the sun
15:07
we'll come up, the moon will cut in front of it, just like
15:11
somebody cut in front of you in traffic. It'll take about three minutes or
15:15
so in totality from front to back in our area and then it'll lighten up
15:20
again. And the experience that I'm waiting for. And I did not see
15:24
this in twenty seventeen because here we didn't get all of it. It was
15:30
really I thought, not that big of a deal last time around. I
15:33
mean, it got dark like a storm and then it was over. Other
15:35
places saw it much better. In Illinois they had this thing called I think
15:41
it was Moonfest or something like that. Osborne was on tour at the time
15:46
and healthy. He's had some health issues subsequently. But what he did is
15:52
bark at the moon during the actual eclipse. Is it was come into totality,
15:56
which was pretty amazing. I've seen real yeah, bunch of videos on
16:00
that too which people had sent me as well as that are just floating around.
16:03
So that's something to look forward to tomorrow. Which you could see there.
16:07
In some of that is that three sixty sunset vibe, not looking at
16:12
the sun but all the way around our horizon. So that in itself,
16:17
I think is going to be worth the price of admission. And just wear
16:21
the right glasses or don't look up, make one of those pinhole deals.
16:23
There's time to get information. It's all on the interweb. Don't you know
16:27
all right? Twelve thirty reports straight away Sandy Collins sterling coming back on the
16:33

21:07
a beautiful Sunday afternoon for baseball. The eve of celestial happening tomorrow with the
21:15
full on eclipse in the Tri State. It's Reds and Mets getting at it.
21:18
The Reds looking to make it a third series in a row with a
21:25
nodded up a game apiece, Reds and Mets. Red's one last night,
21:30
that's one Friday. I'm fine. All of a sudden, I have a brain cramp. I'll get through it. Let's check today's starting pitchers. It's
21:36
brought to you by Western Southern Financial Group, helping to make Cincinnati the best
21:40

21:42
Cincinnati's best place to buy your engagement ring. A couple left handers getting it
21:47
on at Great American Ballpark and on the big One this afternoon with the one
21:51
forty first pitch. Sean Manaia. He's a lefty for the Mets. He's
21:55
had one appearance so far this season. He pitched six innings, struck out
22:00
eight with a point five whip to this point. He is a Valpraiso,
22:03
Indiana native, so he's kind of close to home, but not so much
22:07
a Great American ball Park. Andrew Abbott on the Hill for the Reds out
22:11
of Lynchburg, Virginia. Of course, he's also a lefty. One appearance
22:14
so far. With a three to three eight e er. He pitched five
22:18
and a third inning struck out four with a point nine to four whips.
22:21
So it should be a good matchup. And I have today's starting lineups.
22:25
If you'd like to know who's playing where, I'll let you know right about
22:27
now. I think it's a good time. Leading off for the Reds and
22:32
designated hitting today Jonathan India Spencer steer Man. How good is that guy?
22:38
He'll hit second and play left field this afternoon. Hitting third, Playing first,
22:44
it's Christian Incarnacion strand Cees for those who like the acronym. In the
22:49
cleanup spot, it's Jamer Kendelario. He'll play third and to hitting fifth.
22:55
Stuart Fairchild's gonna be and right. Ellie de la Cruz looking to keep that
23:00
hitting streak alive. I'm afraid to say that out loud. He's been going
23:03
through well, some growing pains and getting a little bit of heat on the
23:07
way he handles himself, but seemingly finding himself at the same time. You
23:11
got to remember he is not exactly all that old when you think about it.
23:15
He'll be at short and hitting sixth. More on him in a bit.
23:18
Santiago Espinall' is gonna hit seventh. He'll play second base. Luke Mayley's
23:25
behind the plate, he'll catch and hit eighth, and Bubba Thompson's in center
23:30
hitting ninth. So that's India, Steer, Incarnacion, Strand, Candelario,
23:34
Fairchild, de la Cruz, espinall Melee, and Thompson. For the Mets,
23:40
it's Brandon Nemo. He'll play left and hit first. Francisco Lindor's hitting
23:44
second. He'll be at shortstop. Pete Alonzo, big guy, gonna be
23:48
at first, hitting third. Francisco Alvarez is behind the plate, hitting cleanup.
23:53
Brett Batty he'll be at third, hitting fifth. Starling Mark Tay,
23:57
not Sterling. I keep randomly getting emails. Is it usually related to you
24:02
know? The last name's Marte. My name's Sterling, and he's Starling hitting
24:07
six. Mister Marte in the DH this afternoon. Tyrone Taylor's in right field.
24:12
He'll hit seven for the Mets. Jeff McNeil's at second, he'll hit
24:18
eighth, and Harrison Bader former Reds in centerfield and he will hit ninth.
24:22
This afternoon looks to be a great day for baseball. Reds looking to make
24:26
it two of three from the Mets. They've taken the first two series of
24:32
this very young season, and to look to do it again this afternoon,
24:36
and they seemingly are never out of it. It's one of the most spectacular
24:41
things that I got real used to and I know I'm not alone in this
24:44
last season where they if I'm not mistaken, I'm not like Lance. I
24:48
don't have an encyclopedic memory of everything, but I am pretty sure they led
24:53
the majors or were in the top tier of Major League ball clubs and come
24:59
from behind when and this year they seemingly are doing it again. It'd be
25:03
nice if they could get ahead, stay ahead and just breathe easy. But
25:07
it keeps us on our edge of our seats, listening to the radio and
25:11
at the ballparks, staying longer, eating some food and having some beverages because
25:15
you expect them to find a way because they just keep working. Coming up,
25:18
we'll take a look at big sticks in the big leagues. We'll also
25:22
take a look at today's schedule around Major League Baseball. Who's hot in the
25:26
big leagues with some Cincinnati Reds of heart of that, and so much more,
25:30
And again this season for every run batted in by Cincinnati's cleanup hitters.

26:41
a good one. And last night I actually talked to Gordon Wittenmeyer after a
26:47
spectacular come from behind Reds when they just do it seemingly, it's just in
26:52
them, it's their nature, it's their character in this. I'm trying to
26:56
which cut is this now? I'm sorry, Oh. I talked about how
27:00
this team and I talked about it for the last couple of years actually in
27:04
the game of baseball has seemingly come around to where it used to be in
27:08
some fashion. I don't know why or how whatever else, but it's about
27:11
manufacturing runs and not just waiting for the long ball to happen on over and
27:18
getting them in. It's exciting. Here's with a Gordon Wittenmeyer from The Inquirer
27:22
had to say about those Reds and manufacturing runs last night with me on the
27:25
big one. It's built for it. I mean it's like literally built for
27:29
it. When they tore it down to the studs and went to acquire more
27:33
young players. Nick Kross says, we definitely wanted to be more athletic.
27:37
That was something that they weren't in recent years, and it just so happened
27:42
the new rules were coming in. He said. We didn't do it just
27:45
because the new rules were coming in, although we knew the new rules were
27:48
coming in. So they had Ellie Daala Cruz in the system. They had
27:53
drafted Matt McClean at that point, and they brought Stuart Fairchild back into the
27:59
organization, and then a lot of these other trades included guys like Spencer Steer,
28:04
Noelvie Martuez who we know is on is out with ped Sis mentioned but
28:10
they got younger and more athletic and mass at the exact right time when that
28:15
was going to pay off. A team would be rewarded for that. We
28:18
saw that with the Arizona Diamondbacks going all the way to the World Series last
28:22
year with a very young, fast athletic team. A team like the Baltimore
28:26
Orioles very young and they've got a lot of guys that can run team that's
28:30
coming to town next. The Brewers have some of those guys. So this
28:34
is something that is around the game in general now. And the Reds are
28:42
right there at the forefront for sure. There you go. Gordon Wittenmeier from
28:47

29:10
season, looking to make it two of three against the Mets this afternoon,
29:14
which would not exactly be a bad way to go. Sitting right now at
29:18
five and three. It is a very competitive in El Central and some surprising
29:23
teams last year seemingly sticking around and finding a way to be better at least
29:29
early on and continuing to win. So winning obviously, well it's always very
29:33
important, and something else going on. Ellie de la Cruz, love him,
29:38
hate him, get frustrated by him, whatever else you can say.
29:41
One thing, he is finding his way seemingly at the plate, and he
29:45
is looking now to make it nine games. He's gone through eight hitting safely.
29:51
Today would be the ninth and that would be a nice way for him
29:55
to just sort of keep it going and moving ahead in that development, which
29:57
is nice and I think that qualified his game notes for today. Brought to

The Rangers right fielder Adulas Garcia has four. Tescr Hernandez right fielder for the

30:42
far. The Red Sox Tyler O'Neil also has four, and not too far
30:48
down the list, you got some other guys like Spencer Steer who's already had
30:53
three go deep and last night was another example of that too, which is
30:59
kind of not looking at runs batted in. That's a part of it too.
31:02
It's not just a long ball Tescar Hernandez as fourteen runs batted in so

37:22

37:27
would be nine for twenty twenty four. This is the RNL Carriers Inside Pitch

37:39

37:43
it this afternoon as well, with a one to forty first pitch Reds and
37:46
Mets getting at it. Get away day for the Mets red sticking around.
37:50
Better part they got a stretch here. I think it's a better part of
37:52
two weeks without a day off, if I'm not mistaken, before they hit
37:54
the road again here in a few days. Better part of a week,
37:58
I guess, teth Nicoley, this is a conversation again from last night talking
38:01
to Gordon Wittenmeyer about these Reds and specifically Hunter Green, and the weight may
38:07
be lifted somewhat off his shoulders because of acquisitions and somebody else who might be
38:12
thought of as that number one starter for these Cincinnati Reds. I think that
38:17
I don't think that that's as big a factor. And by the way,
38:22
to answer the first part of your question, has essentially has he has he
38:27
changed? Has he found like sort of this this next step in his career?
38:31
Time will tell on that because what we saw yesterday from him we have
38:36
seen before, right so, and we've seen it sometimes for four starts at
38:40
a time, better part of a month, six weeks at a time.
38:44
And so whether he can do that for half a season and a full season
38:49
at a time. That's what time will tell. I think if there's a
38:52
weight off at all, it's that this is a year after signing the contract.
38:58
There's a I don't know what all goes into it, but a lot
39:02
of players have had rough first seasons after signing a big contract. Sometimes it's
39:10
their first big contract. Sometimes it's that huge free agent nine figure deal.
39:16
John Lester, of all people, you know, mister Clutch with the Red
39:20
Sox, signs with the Cubs for one hundred and fifty five million dollars and
39:23
has a has a rough first six weeks two months before kind of finding himself
39:30
again. Guys, it happens to guys. Sometimes they put too much pressure
39:34
on themselves. Sometimes sometimes they just kind of like, you know, it's
39:37
all theory until you sign on the bottom line, and then it's like,
39:42
holy crap, you know this is this is real and I'm that guy.
39:46
And sometimes that can play with the guy's mind. That certainly can't. The
39:51
RNL Carrier, since I pitch Sterla, you can partner with the family on
39:53
LTL Provider at RLC dot com. That's Gordon Wittenmeyer from the inquired talking about
39:58
Hunter Green and just the wake maybe on his shoulders the contract. You get
40:01
a guy in now who's looking to be the number one rather than him just
40:06
And the weird thing is is once the opening day has gone, you're just
40:09
rotating through anyway. But you know, I've not been in that situation,
40:14
And historically you hear interview after interview and guys saying that it does in fact
40:17
sort of get into their brain. So it is what it is, as
40:21
they say, let's check out today's schedule around the big leagues. It's brought
40:24
to you by Brandstetters kangaroof celebrating over twenty five years as your hometown roofing experts.
40:30
Pittsburgh Pirates. They are home at PNC Park, bar Park by the
40:36
way, beautiful look at their skyline and Pittsburgh. It's about all nice I can say about them. At this point. They're playing Great Baseball seven and
40:40
two, hosting the Orioles at five and three. Both teams last year somewhat
40:45
surprising, as were the Reds, as teams that had been sort of on
40:50
the down for some period of time, rebuilding finding their way. It looks
40:53
to be the same case today. Pirates and Oriels in Pittsburgh. Later on
40:59
Nationals hosting the Phillies. Reds have seen both Phillies at four and four,
41:02
Nationals at two and six. That's a one thirty five first pitch. Braves
41:06
at home in Atlanta, or sort of Atlanta. I think they're sort of out of town now a little bit. They are hosting the Diamondbacks five and
41:13
two, Braves four and five, d Backs getting at it. The Yankees
41:16
are home in the Bronx hosting the Blue Jays Yankees seven and two. You
41:21
kind of expect them to almost always sort of be there. Looks to be the case so far. Early on Blue Jays at four and five, Tigers
41:28
in Detroit at six and two, hosting the A's Oakland for a little while
41:32
longer just two and seven on the year so far, and soon to be
41:37
in Las Vegas once the Tropicana is imploded. They will begin next year,
41:43
early twenty twenty five. The expectation is for construction to begin on that new
41:46
bar ballpark that's going to be on the strip, which is kind of odd.
41:52
You know, Mayor it just was like, we don't want this on the strip, but you know, she didn't have any real saying it in
41:58
the end. In the meantime, I think they're also going to play at
42:00
a Tripoli Ballpark, if I'm not mistaken, in Sacramento starting next season.
42:05
But they're in Detroit, taken on the Tigers today, Royal's home at five
42:08
and four, hosting Chicago's Southsiders, the White Sox at just one in seven
42:13
this afternoon. That's a two ten first pitch in the NL Central five and
42:16
two. Brewers Reds have them next after they handle business today with the Mets
42:22
in town, Brewers home before coming to Cincinnati hosting the Mariners of Seattle.
42:28
They're at four and five, the Cardinals at five and four, nottted up
42:31
in the NL Centrals. We'll see how this shakes out over time. The
42:35
Marlins win list at this point, I don't know where the smart money goes.
42:37
They got to win at some point. Is it going to be today
42:39
in Saint Louis? It could be. That's a two fifteen first pitch.
42:44
Cubbies at five and three. Also the NL Central nodded tightly. They are
42:49
hosting the Dodgers, who are just stacked and loaded because they have all the
42:52
money that you could possibly need. But there's no guarantee they'll win, but
42:57
so far they're eight and three, so it must be working. Three to
43:00
ten. First pitch. The Rockies home in Denver, two and seven record
43:04
at this point, hosting Tampa Bay's Rays. They're four and five. That's
43:07
three ten. First pitch the Angels, Los Angeles, Anaheim, call them
43:12
what you want, five and three. They are home, hosting Boston's Red
43:15
Sox. Glad to probably be out of their home. With the cold in
43:20
the snow in southern California, probably not too bad for them. They are
43:22
six and three so far, and the Angels are five and three. Giants
43:27
are three and six. They're home in San Francisco, up north of San
43:31
Diego. Padres made the trip up the five. They're at five and six.
43:36
They'll do it at four oh five this afternoon. The Rangers home in
43:38
Arlington with a six and two record, hosting the Astros of Houston. They
43:44
are two and seven. That's Sunday Night baseball with the seven to ten.
43:47
First pitch. Twins and Guardians postponed in the Twin Cities due to inclement weather,
43:52
and they'll make that up in August. If for some reason you're concerned
43:55
about that. Let's see what else we got going on today? Scheduled around
44:00
Major League Baseball one forty first pitch, Reds and Mets right here on seven
44:04
hundred WLW. Who's hot in the big Leagus? Wow? It's hard to
44:08
answer that question, but not really. It's brought to you by Pella Windows
44:12
and Doors a greater Cincinnati Pella now pay later, and by plumb tight plumbing.
44:17
Plumb tight? Is plumbing done? Right? Can I call an audible
44:22
Alex Egan? Is it possible that we can dig up Spencer Steer in that
44:25
big stick doing what he did last night to put the Reds in front and
44:30
to finish stuff off last night on a come from behind wind, Because it
44:35
seems that's what the Reds do on a regular basis. I think that qualifies
44:37
as who's hot in the big Leagus? And when you can do the inside
44:40
pitch and eventually everyone gets a shot, then you can make the call.
44:44
And here comes the one one pitch. Steer swings high, long fly ball
44:49
deep left center field, way back. It is gone into the first row
44:54
seat to three run home run for Spencer Steer, and the Reds have the
45:00
lead, and they kept it, and they ended up with the win,
45:05
tying up this weekend series. Today they'll finish it up with the one forty
45:09
first pitch and try to make it two to three. And just a reminder,
45:14
what a beautiful day to head to the Great American Ballpark along the Ohio
45:16
downtown Cincinnati. If you are headed to today's game or pretty much any other
45:21
time that you're out and about, remember to buckle your seat belt. It's
45:24
a message from the Ohio Department of Public Safety. If you're not buckled up,
45:28
what's holding you back? Sterling with the RNL carriers inside pitch you can

partner with the family owned LTL provider at RLC dot com. What I'm curious
45:37
about, and I'll be listening this afternoon intently to Tommy Thraw and Chris Welch.
45:43
I'm curious because when I talked to Gordon went Meyer last night about what
45:46
his plan was for the eclipse, which we'll all experience tomorrow one way or
45:52
another, he said he planned to sleep late and just forget about it and
45:57
not pay attention to it, which made my brain just like I couldn't process
46:00
that because I figure tomorrow, why would he not be at the ballpark.
46:07
I mean, you got a six forty first pitch with the Brewers coming in
46:09
the town and usually everybody's getting to the ballpark a few hours early. So
46:15
my question is what are they doing for the players and anyone in the ballpark
46:20
that they're going to have to remind people you can stare at the sun, but make sure you have eye protection and don't look too close too long,
46:27
or you might burn the eye, your eyes right out of your head,
46:30
which nobody wants. Alex one more audible to call here, can we play
46:34
that first clip that I came out of the gate with in relation to what
46:37
happens if you look at the eclipse full on with either no protection or less
46:44
than the right protection, because nothing good comes from it, and we don't
46:47
want that to happen to anybody, whether it's the Reds or whether it's you,
46:52
or whether it's the kids, whomever else. It's one of those things.
46:55
This. Make sure you've got at least the right protection to protect those
47:00
eyeballs. Staring directly at the eclipse can cause solar retinopathy, a condition where
47:07
radiation from the sun is focused through the eyes and burns the retina. Symptoms
47:12
of this include headaches, watery and painful eyes, sensitivity to bray light,
47:15
blurry or distorted vision, the occurrence of new blind spots, and a difficulty
47:20
to differentiate between colors. The harm di vision can be temporary, and swelling
47:24
in the eye may go down, but the damage can be permanent. I'm
47:34
just here to help, but I know you're thinking, really, sterling.
47:36
It's the Aronal Carriers inside pitch, and we're getting information about saving our eyeballs
47:39
because we're all sharing this space. And tomorrow the sun will go dark during
47:45
the day and we may if it clears in time, as the forecast says,
47:50
be able to see a three hundred and sixty degree sunset, and that
47:53
likely will never ever happen again as long as I am walking the face of
47:58
the earth. Back after your one o'clock report, we'll get you ready for
48:02
Reds Baseball. Right here on the RNL Carriers inside pitch seven hundred ww spring
