RATING
The writing and acting of Steal the Stars is so good that it is the benchmark I compare all other Audio Dramas to. Worth listening to more than once!!
I am fully obsessed with this story. Loved the characters. Loved the romance. Loved the twist ending!
An secret alien military base. Along with forbidden love. Brilliantly voice acted. Sound and story are exceptional.
A wonderful sci-fi romance story that is quick and straight to the point.
Well paced, nicely voiced, kept me guessing until the very end! Enjoyable entertainment while I potter in the basement. Thanks!
it was okay, well-made and acted. minus one star for the romance plot line. even though it was well acted, and therefore believable, it still popped out of nowhere without any build up. good and unique enough to listen to, but not a must.
Liked the general idea of the show (voiceover also wasn't bad) but couldn't get through even season 1. Dropped it.The romance seemed too straightforward for me and the science-fiction plot was too boring.
I'd give the first season, "Steal The Stars," an overall 3.5/5. Sound design and voice acting are great - the lead actress has a deep voice that's pleasant to listen to, and I like how she delivers her lines. The main character's interesting, and I like how the gender roles are flipped - jaded military woman and homme fatale (though he is quite boring). I like aliens, government conspiracies, and how this secret base tries to understand alien technology, and the accidents that result. I like how these characters are put into this violent system and how they deal with it. However. It's emphasized how strict the fraternization policy is, but there's a loophole in the policy that should warrant at least a trial. Sci-fi stories are supposed to ground the speculative in something "human," but the aliens are more believable than the romance. The writing fails to sell the romance, which goes from 1 to 100 way too fast; would have been better fleshed out with more episodes. They kiss the first episode and. Why. She professes her love after they have known each other for like a week and fucked once. Why. On the other hand, there's something human in that [in my opinion,] the main character doesn't fall in love with the dude as much as she's lonely, feels powerless and insecure at times, and is in love with the idea of love. I feel like this plot could have worked better with a) the best friend character or b) a more interesting male lead. The end could have used a bit more foreshadowing, but it suits the main character's loneliness and lack of agency.
This a great and well put together story. It maybe drags a little in the middle but its certainly worth it. Solid sound production as well I thought.
I liked the first story (five stars), with Matt and Dak, but from there on it became mostly confusing. The last season, up til now at least, is the most confusing (one star). I didn't finish any season after the first one, just skipped from one episode to the other to find something that I could latch on to. But no ...
really well done story and acting
This was a really well done story from start to finish, but THAT ENDING! I loved that twist at the end so much. I've never been one to listen to an audio drama a second time but this one I could see myself replaying in the future.
It took a minute or two to get into the story, but once I got past the complex security procedures (and understood the why of them) I was addicted! Nice story development early to make it more comprehensive later.
Loved listening to it, easy to follow, and great voice acting. Ending...weird, little anticlimactic.
It was super compelling, but I felt that the audio drama format wasn't always the best for what was happening. Also, I didn't like the ending, but I also predicted it.
Probably could've been a 5, but my expectations were too high... It's written by the same guy who did The Message/Life After, which are my all-time favorites. Still, great story, but was hoping for a slightly better/more intense ending.
This is awesome and entertaining.
Too much conversation didn't make any sense
