On this podcast certified Open Focus™ coaches Kurt and Joan Griffiths Vega discuss how you can learn to use Open Focus™ to reduce your habitual stress and anxiety and dissolve your chronic pain. They also discuss the benefits of using both Open Focus™ and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction [MBSR] as a way to enter flow states so that you can more easily live in a relaxed state of calm. Kurt is a professor of social media courses at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. He is also a musician and composer as well as a social and digital media consultant. Kurt has worked with neurofeedback pioneer, Dr. Les Fehmi and his partner, Susan Shor-Fehmi, LCSW, of the Princeton Biofeedback Center in Princeton since 2008. Kurt produces and co-hosts monthly, ‘Ask Dr. Fehmi’, Open Focus Attention, tele-seminars with Joan Griffiths Vega. Joan Griffiths Vega has extensive training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction [MBSR] from the UMass Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society. She studied with Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD. and Saki Santorelli, Ed.D. In 2008, Joan introduced her adapted MBSR workshop for family caregivers to The Martha Stewart Center for Living at Mt. Sinai Hospital of New York. She co-teaches her Caregiver Mindful Stress Reduction workshop with Patricia Bloom, MD. The workshop addresses the needs of family caregivers who can experience significant stress while caring for a person with dementia or chronic disease.
