Welcome in to the Subconscious Mind Mastery

0:05

Podcast. Thomas Miller and we

0:07

are going to do a segment today

0:09

on beliefs. I didn't realize

0:11

this. I had no idea,

0:14

but I've only done two episodes

0:17

in all these hundreds that we've done that have

0:19

the title beliefs in them. And

0:22

the reason is that somebody, one of our

0:24

very special listeners, Sarah Wakeman,

0:26

who is doing our swag and

0:28

our products shop

0:31

and admin on our Facebook

0:33

page and just such a special

0:35

person in my life, was asking

0:37

a question in our Facebook group about removing

0:40

or changing limiting beliefs. And

0:42

I was like, I thought we had done a lot more

0:44

on this. And I was embarrassed actually

0:47

to find out that we haven't. So we

0:49

are going to talk about beliefs today.

0:51

And this is going

0:52

to be an early release

0:54

if you're following in real time. But part

0:56

of our Sunday spiritual series,

0:59

because this gets to the core of everything

1:01

that we are. Now, if you would like to

1:04

go back and listen to the other episodes

1:06

on this topic, one is number 19

1:09

all the way back to the beginning.

1:11

And then number 219

1:13

is an excerpt from one of Fred's essays,

1:16

audio books.

1:17

But I also appreciate being able to go

1:19

back on these older topics and

1:22

bring new life and new insight

1:24

and bring it up to date of where we are

1:26

today, because that old episode

1:28

was, I'm sure, recorded back in 2013. That

1:32

was 10 years ago. And if you don't think

1:34

that we don't learn something, all of us in 10

1:37

years, we are different. So if

1:39

you heard that way back when, you're

1:41

listening with different ears today. And

1:44

I'll tell you why I did that so back early

1:46

was because I realized when I

1:48

changed everything in my life that

1:50

the things I believed

1:52

drove everything. Every outcome,

1:55

every situation, every result,

1:58

every everything. in your life, who

2:01

you are today is the sum

2:03

total

2:04

of everything you believe. And I'm saying

2:07

you, I could easily say me, but let's

2:09

make it about us, okay? Because it's

2:11

all of us. This is everybody

2:13

on the planet.

2:15

The person who believes they can become

2:17

president of the United States can.

2:20

The

2:20

person who believed they could walk

2:22

on the moon back in the 1960s did. For

2:27

a while there, I did some video

2:29

shooting for a company that was affiliated

2:31

with Spud Web. Now you might

2:33

not remember that name, but he was an NBA

2:36

basketball player

2:37

and he won the slam dunk contest

2:41

time after time after time. Okay,

2:43

that's no big deal,

2:45

except that Jerome

2:47

Spud Web

2:49

stands five foot six inches

2:51

tall. I

2:54

mean, I've interviewed the guy, sat there and shot the

2:56

interviews and realized

2:59

that this man had in him a

3:01

belief that he could reach

3:04

a 10 foot basket. I checked

3:06

his picture out online and looking this

3:08

up and I don't think he could do that today, but

3:11

that was a long time ago and he was

3:14

something else. So this is why I say

3:16

beliefs run our entire life.

3:19

For your life, what you believe about

3:21

your day begins when

3:23

you decide either to pull the

3:26

covers up and stay in bed or to

3:28

get up, clean up and go about your

3:30

day. And some beliefs like

3:32

the just get up, get out. You don't

3:35

even think about it. They're on autopilot.

3:37

Of course I get up and I go about my day.

3:40

That's what I do. Well, stop and think

3:42

for a minute. What do you believe about that?

3:45

Like if I don't get up, clean up and go to work, I won't

3:47

have a job because they'll fire me, then I

3:49

won't have income, then I'll lose everything

3:51

I have, etc. Well that's a belief

3:54

and it's probably a pretty good one. We're going

3:56

to talk about that more here in just a second.

3:59

of money that you have, you

4:02

have because of your belief,

4:04

of your value in the marketplace,

4:07

and that belief is probably constructed

4:10

from parts of your training,

4:13

your past experiences, how

4:15

easily you've gotten into one job

4:18

or another, whether you enjoy one

4:20

job or another. But if you have a belief

4:22

that you are not relevant in the marketplace,

4:25

then chances are you're going to struggle

4:27

and probably not make a lot of money with

4:29

that belief. So you can ask

4:32

then where do these beliefs

4:34

come from? And this is what we talked about

4:36

way back on episode number 19. Why

4:39

do we have the beliefs we have? I'm

4:41

too old. I'm too young.

4:43

I don't live in the right geographic

4:46

place.

4:47

I don't have the skill set.

4:49

Nobody wants to hire me. I

4:51

can't find a good company that's a good fit

4:53

for me. And I wrote down in my notes

4:56

that all beliefs then are

4:58

based on something.

5:01

Sarah, there's one of those cryptic t-shirts

5:04

we could do is my beliefs

5:06

are based on something and put something

5:08

in big all caps letters. Nobody will understand

5:10

it, but we will because

5:13

I mean, that's even a new saying that we

5:15

could come up with around here. My beliefs are

5:17

based on something. Either

5:20

it was something my parents

5:22

told me. It was something

5:24

I experienced firsthand and I made interpretations

5:27

about that experience. It was something

5:30

a friend said about me and

5:32

I just believed it because it sounded right.

5:35

Or it's based on something I know. The

5:37

law of gravity is a belief. I mean,

5:40

one could believe they could fly

5:42

from a window of a building, but that necessarily

5:45

wouldn't be advised. See, and

5:47

that's how beliefs get structured in our life

5:49

because we parallel them to

5:52

the reality that we're aware of. Then

5:54

we conclude this is an accurate belief.

5:57

I mean, we can even test it, drop a rock out

5:59

of that window.

5:59

first does it ever go up?

6:02

So see there's the personal experience. We

6:04

have a 100% success rate

6:06

of it not going up. Then

6:08

in school we learn about gravity. There's

6:11

no reason whatsoever for us to challenge

6:14

that teaching. So now as a little

6:16

child starting to learn about life,

6:19

we have a fixed belief about

6:21

jumping out of windows. Don't do

6:23

it. That little pronged hole in the

6:25

wall that mom and dad says don't stick your

6:27

finger in. Yeah that's another

6:29

good idea. But then your

6:32

junior high basketball coach tells

6:34

you you'll never make it in the NBA and

6:37

you believe him because you're five foot

6:39

six. Whoops. Could

6:42

have missed a whole career. And the delight

6:44

and thrill that audiences

6:47

received watching him slam

6:49

dunk the ball. Oh and don't you know he

6:51

heard it possibly from his parents,

6:54

from his friends, from his coaches, but

6:56

he chose not to believe it. So see

6:59

all of our beliefs are based on something. Here

7:01

was this chorus of external voices

7:04

saying you'll never play in the NBA. Come

7:06

on dude you're five foot six. Everybody

7:09

knows you're too short and I guarantee

7:11

you that somewhere along the way Spud

7:13

Web acknowledged that belief

7:16

and then rejected it. Even though

7:19

at the time he acknowledged and rejected

7:21

it, it was true. He was

7:24

not in the NBA

7:25

in junior high school or high school,

7:28

but he had a dream. He wasn't going to let

7:30

something as silly as height get in the way

7:32

of it. So he just kept jumping. Probably

7:34

spent a few hours in the gym on a weight

7:37

machine building those leg muscles too. Don't

7:39

you know? See you can apply this to

7:41

every other area of your life. Relationships.

7:44

What

7:45

are the beliefs today? There are no good

7:47

men or women out there. It's

7:49

all just a bunch of dating app

7:51

hookups and I don't want

7:53

a shallow relationship

7:55

or

7:56

people are just flat crazy.

7:59

All of those beliefs.

7:59

beliefs are based on something.

8:02

Maybe you had a fling with a crazy person.

8:05

Maybe you've been on 20 dates with 21 losers. It's

8:10

like, yeah, show me that the rock will

8:12

ever go up. You know, it's like, but we

8:15

construct a belief system. Now

8:17

we know physically, scientifically,

8:19

in every kind of way that rock is never going

8:21

to go up by itself. But

8:23

could date number 74 possibly be a winner?

8:28

What

8:29

we know is possible. So in the

8:32

tier of belief systems, we

8:34

have to think about what is truly

8:37

fixed and basically unchanging, versus

8:40

what is marginally possible.

8:43

There's your Spud Web at 5'6 in junior

8:45

high school. Marginally possible,

8:47

but he did it. And then there's the,

8:50

yeah, this could be possible. And

8:52

obviously when we get into this area, it

8:54

is very important that we know which

8:56

kind of belief we're dealing with, because I've

8:59

seen a lot of people minimize

9:02

the importance of a more fixed belief.

9:05

And then they get themselves in trouble because they

9:07

jump too fast to conclusions

9:10

that don't serve. One example that comes

9:12

to mind is quitting the job too soon.

9:15

Ooh, I believed that I would easily

9:18

be able to get another one or whatever it is. So

9:21

beliefs. We construct them. They

9:24

often are based, or at least the early

9:27

ones are co-anchored in our family upbringing.

9:30

They are based on our experiences.

9:33

We own them. We own

9:35

our interpretations of the experiences

9:38

we've had. It's like, hey, I am,

9:40

it's my right to interpret

9:43

what happened to me and draw conclusions.

9:46

And our beliefs were based on, yes,

9:49

something, shout it out. But beliefs

9:52

are more valuable and important

9:54

to us and more guarded by

9:57

us than our new car, our

9:59

new boyfriend. that new ring

10:01

on your finger, whatever it is, our

10:03

beliefs are more important

10:06

to us than all of those things. We

10:08

really take a lot of pride in these beliefs

10:11

that we have constructed. Now, Sarah's

10:13

question was about removing limiting

10:16

beliefs or changing limiting beliefs,

10:19

and that's half the process because obviously

10:21

we have to identify that there are limiting

10:23

beliefs. So somewhere along the way

10:25

we created this belief based

10:28

on something happening in our interpretation

10:30

of it, and it didn't take us

10:32

down the road we expected. I

10:34

do this all the time in the market.

10:37

You know, you believe it's going to go one

10:39

way. You place a trade

10:41

in that direction and it goes the other way.

10:44

Well, the belief was wrong, but give

10:46

me some latitude here to take this even

10:48

a step further. This is radical. I'm

10:50

not right. Just try this on.

10:53

That some of our beliefs

10:56

literally stop the manifesting

10:59

or the magical process in

11:01

our lives dead in its tracks.

11:04

Whoa! Why would

11:07

you say that beliefs that

11:09

we hold could stop our manifesting?

11:12

Well, think about it, because those

11:15

beliefs become subconscious,

11:17

so they are stronger than

11:19

our conscious beliefs. Now,

11:21

I know this can get into a head spin, but just

11:23

go with me on this and think about,

11:26

do you ever wonder why some area is

11:28

stuck all the time? Could it be

11:30

because we have a deep subconscious

11:33

belief that totally blocks our

11:35

ability in the creative magical

11:37

realm? And I know these stuck

11:39

areas. You have them, I have them, we

11:42

all have them. So let's see if we can

11:44

break through some things through this

11:46

little process. So first

11:48

of all, let's just accept, let's

11:51

just say we're going to play here, that some

11:53

of our crafted beliefs

11:56

actually limit us. And let's

11:59

even take it a step further.

11:59

further, they can stop us dead

12:02

in our tracks.

12:04

And then, I'm going to be radical

12:06

here again,

12:07

globally, be

12:09

willing to release all of your

12:12

beliefs.

12:13

Woah! Including rocks

12:16

and windows and falling out and dropping and falling?

12:19

Well, release it, but it doesn't mean

12:21

you have to change it, just release attachment

12:23

to it. Because if you release

12:25

attachment to all of your beliefs, it

12:28

completely shifts your inner perspective.

12:31

So, what if none of your beliefs served

12:34

you? Just if?

12:36

Would you be willing to change them? No!

12:40

I'm going to hold on to them. They don't get me where

12:42

I want to go, but I'm right and I'm

12:44

going to stick with it. Alright,

12:47

let me know how that gets you. See the trick

12:49

then is to identify which ones

12:52

serve and which ones don't. That's

12:54

what I was talking about earlier. You have

12:56

to know the structure of your belief system.

12:59

That takes some work. It's a process. That

13:01

was what I did in those early days and that was what

13:03

was reflected back in that early episode. So,

13:06

you have to observe it. You have to journal through

13:09

this. You have to sit and really

13:11

pick apart. What do I believe? Where

13:13

did that belief come from? Why am

13:15

I holding on to it still? Does it serve

13:18

me? And then, you have to categorize

13:20

it, structure it, tier it, if you will,

13:22

T-I-E-R.

13:24

To say, is this one that is critically

13:27

life important that I better not be

13:29

so radical with versus is

13:31

this one that I have some playroom and I could even

13:33

make a radical change right now. Use

13:36

the ones to play with here to get this

13:38

process started that don't have that

13:41

radical life altering impact. Don't

13:43

make big major decisions based on

13:45

this. Play around the edges, then work your

13:47

way in. But here is one of the

13:50

changes that I think is just, I

13:52

just love this technique. Try the opposite.

13:55

And I've noticed people say, oh yeah, I've seen

13:57

the Seinfeld episode. George does the opposite.

13:59

No. down and watch it. It's six minutes long.

14:01

It's on YouTube. It's all over the place. You can find

14:04

several different versions of it. George

14:06

does the opposite. Seinfeld. Watch

14:09

that before you attempt any changes.

14:11

It's classic. I mean, if you've

14:13

even watched it in the last two weeks, watch

14:16

it again. If you don't get

14:18

what you want going one direction,

14:21

maybe if you go the other way, you'll

14:24

get the outcome you're looking for. And I've

14:26

always said if you find the exact opposite

14:29

of the undesired outcome

14:31

and you go the other way, the

14:34

final outcome is probably somewhere

14:36

in the middle of that totally opposite

14:38

direction. Now, here are some things

14:41

that you could think about. Jot these

14:43

down if you have the ability. Try

14:46

on replacing beliefs

14:49

with intentions. Try

14:52

on replacing beliefs with

14:55

observations. Try

14:58

on replacing beliefs with

15:00

possibilities. Now, again,

15:02

that's not throwing caution away,

15:05

but truly looking at your life and

15:07

saying, if I did not believe

15:10

this, what

15:12

would that change? Here's an example.

15:15

Fred Dodson believes

15:17

that he can pay cash for

15:20

a house and he has multiple

15:22

times,

15:24

but he had to get there because there

15:26

was a day that Fred Dodson lived in

15:28

apartments with roommates, renting,

15:31

and not being able to pay for a house.

15:34

But just like Spud Web, he

15:36

believed that one day he would be

15:38

able to pay for a house and

15:40

he started taking actions, and I

15:42

know a lot of it was intuitively guided.

15:44

He started following his intuition

15:47

from the intentions he had of making

15:50

the kind of money that he needed to

15:52

make in order to be able to go

15:54

in and buy a house and pay cash for it.

15:57

And those actions over time resulted

16:01

in enough money for him to be able to do

16:03

that. And when he created that belief,

16:05

he was not able to. But he didn't

16:08

let his existing reality

16:11

form a belief bigger than the

16:13

one that he wanted to achieve. Actually,

16:15

working through this is exactly the reality

16:18

creation technique that he wrote that was the

16:20

very first audiobook that I narrated for

16:23

him. That's how you work through

16:25

the contrast between the belief that

16:27

doesn't serve and the belief that you're trying

16:29

to create. That's how you reprogram

16:32

your subconscious mind toward

16:34

the new belief. So we're

16:36

rolling this into our Sunday Meditation

16:39

Series. So here are some

16:41

things that you can meditate about and

16:44

think about changing limiting

16:46

beliefs. I'll list these

16:49

questions and then we'll play

16:51

some music for you to be

16:53

able to work through these and I'll play some of Fred's

16:55

music if you want to step into that kind of vibe.

16:58

Here is a guy that creates his life by

17:01

changing his belief structures.

17:04

So hopefully you have a journal and if you're

17:06

doing this on Sunday with your coffee, write

17:09

down a couple of questions.

17:12

First is,

17:13

what beliefs should I not give

17:16

up? Let's don't give up the

17:18

gravity thing, right? Let's

17:20

don't make radical decisions

17:22

about our employment or etc. etc.

17:25

But what other beliefs should

17:27

I not give up right now?

17:29

And then look at other beliefs

17:31

you might hold that you could play

17:34

with.

17:35

We'll skip the middle if you want to play in

17:37

the middle of these are the ones that really I I'd

17:39

like to change but not right now. You

17:42

could think of those but let's go

17:44

to the edge and let's find the ones that you

17:46

could play with. So obviously

17:49

write down what you believe about

17:51

that now. Coach says I can't

17:53

jump to the 10-foot hoop. I'm only five

17:55

and a half feet tall. Is that your belief?

17:59

And then next...

18:00

Just look at it from an observation

18:02

standpoint.

18:03

Don't be up in the belief. Coach

18:06

says it. He has an opinion.

18:07

That's his. Is he right?

18:10

Does he have my best interest? Well, maybe he does.

18:12

He's trying to not disappoint

18:14

me when I'm rejected in the NBA.

18:17

But do I have to believe that? Will

18:19

that affect today's outcome

18:21

in my life if I believe, continue to believe

18:23

that? No. Can I replace it? Yes.

18:26

With what? Huh. I'm going to

18:28

play in the NBA. In fact, I can dribble

18:31

the ball right underneath their legs. These

18:33

tall guys, they won't even know what happened. I

18:35

just slipped right up under there. While they're looking

18:37

behind, I've made the basket already. Is

18:40

that possible?

18:42

Yes.

18:43

And then start to operate with

18:46

the new belief in mind. You don't

18:48

even have to change anything. For Spud

18:50

Web, it was get to the gym. Find

18:52

people who could coach you on jumping

18:55

higher. Mark on a wall how

18:57

high you jump today. And then figure

18:59

out how you can jump four inches higher than

19:01

that. And then four inches higher than

19:03

that. Five feet, four

19:06

inches at a time. And then come

19:08

squarely honest with yourself. Are you willing

19:11

to replace that belief? Replace

19:13

it with possibilities. You

19:16

say, okay, yeah, I get that. But how

19:18

do I release the old one? Still

19:20

has a grip on me. But see, it's

19:22

not necessarily replacing it.

19:25

It's overlaying it. Stand

19:27

in the reality of today. But

19:29

your thoughts, your intentions, and

19:32

your actions are on the new

19:34

belief. The new observation.

19:36

The new possibility. Do

19:38

you not think that before Spud

19:41

Web played in the NBA, he

19:43

saw himself in the NBA?

19:46

Of course he did. That's where you begin.

19:49

You see it differently. You

19:52

have to operate where you are now.

19:55

But

19:55

you start to take those little incremental

19:58

steps toward the new belief. new

20:00

possibility. And then plenty

20:02

of tools in and amongst these podcasts

20:05

and audio books to help you get there. Maybe

20:07

you pick up a Fred book on manifesting

20:10

and creating or what I'm re

20:12

narrating right now parallel universes

20:15

of self. You could go back and listen

20:17

to podcast 282, two

20:20

very powerful stories from the

20:22

reality creation seminar last

20:25

year in Orlando, Florida of

20:28

people who used parallel universes

20:30

techniques to change the reality

20:32

in their life and to change it rather

20:35

quickly. In fact, the first of those two

20:37

stories, Ali's story about her relationship

20:39

with her husband is a very powerful story.

20:42

That's podcast 282. So then I'll play some

20:45

music here from Fred to give you

20:47

some meditation space and you

20:50

can work from that little list of questions

20:52

and process. And this will help

20:54

you really sink this in. I

20:56

hope this helps Sarah. Thanks for a great

20:59

question. And we'll do more on beliefs

21:01

in the future. We need, that's an important topic.

21:03

We need to hear about it more often.

21:05

Enjoy Fred Dodson's music and

21:07

enjoy the journey. I'm Thomas Miller. Thanks

21:10

for listening. Enjoy your meditation.
