O.J. Aldrich // When challenged with a new idea or perspective, why is it that we as people tend to push back before considering the possibility? Why are we so set in our ways? Maybe it’s because we want to see proof—we want to see God show up in the outcome. But maybe we also want some control in that outcome. We’re only human. So when we see the people in Ephesus, in the Book of Acts, change their affections and give up what they held dear—what they controlled—we may feel conflicted. Are we as people willing to claim Jesus as Lord over every aspect of our lives? Maybe we need to get out of our own ways and start listening to Jesus—the way, the truth, and the life.
