One Well

0:31

. Good afternoon everyone and welcome to the

0:33

latest episode of superhero politics

0:36

. We have a very

0:38

special guest with us today . As

0:40

always , I don't try to take over

0:42

that . I turn it over to our

0:44

guests and let them introduce themselves and tell

0:47

them , tell you guys about who

0:49

they are and the

0:51

interest and we're going to get into the questions here in

0:54

a minute , so I will

0:56

introduce our guests . We met on

0:58

tick tock her channel

1:00

. Please forgive me for butchering this

1:02

doctor . I'm

1:25

going to turn it over to you and tell them a little bit about

1:27

yourself and your history and

1:29

comic books and anime .

1:33

Hi , I'm a worry . I

1:35

literally just came up with that name because my favorite

1:38

villain from Sailor Moon is

1:40

a way

1:42

from the sailors

1:45

Saturn thing

1:48

that was going on . I

1:53

started reading comic books when I was like really

1:56

little , like third grade ish , which

1:58

is actually the same time that my dad started reading

2:00

comics . And my dad's been

2:02

collecting comic books since the 60s and

2:06

I've read pretty much all of them . We've

2:08

got about 6000 comics in

2:10

our garage and

2:13

the only reason I know that is because

2:15

I used to organize them all and

2:17

I would catalog everything

2:19

to go in which boxes , what series

2:21

was it ? How many is in that series ? And

2:23

I just like tally them up and be like

2:26

, oh , we have like 6000 conflicts . Now my

2:28

dad's like why

2:30

?

2:32

So what ? What region of the

2:34

country are you ?

2:35

in . I'm currently

2:37

in Nevada . I live in Vegas

2:39

. We I was born in Los Angeles

2:42

, raised in Tennessee and then we moved

2:44

to Las Vegas a couple years ago .

2:48

So obviously , you know

2:51

, the West Coast has a has a very

2:53

rich history of comics

2:57

and and I think you know , with

2:59

movie production and a lot of things is happening out

3:01

there . San Diego Comic Con is

3:04

one of the biggest ones of the

3:06

cons . Have you in

3:08

your family ever gotten into

3:10

the cons or participating in

3:12

the cons ? I know you're a huge cosplayer . You

3:15

have , you know , some some incredible

3:18

cosplay on

3:20

your site and so have you guys ever gotten into

3:22

the cons and what was that like , the experience

3:24

like for you ?

3:26

Um , I've never been to like a big one

3:28

. I will be going to like my first big one this

3:31

year , so it'll be Dragon Con in

3:33

Atlanta . I'm going to that one . It's my

3:35

first time going to like a big one

3:37

. I've been wanting to go to San Diego Comic

3:39

Con . I had

3:41

tickets to go to San Diego Comic

3:44

Con and we lost my grandmother

3:46

and we were planning

3:48

the funeral and I told them you know , as

3:50

long as the funeral is before

3:53

this date or after this date , we're good

3:55

. And they put it on that date and I was

3:57

like , now , why would you do that ? So

4:00

I had to cancel my

4:02

tickets , only for them to move the

4:04

dates to two months prior

4:06

. And they're like , well , you were going to the thing

4:08

and I was like , well , I sold the

4:10

tickets . They got the tickets back now , so

4:13

you know , but we're

4:15

going , I'm doing that . My first con

4:17

was in Chattanooga . It was kind

4:19

of it was like con Nougat , it was kind of small

4:21

because Chattanooga is really not that big . It

4:24

was fun though . It was a really fun experience

4:27

. One of my friends who's a really big cosplayer came

4:29

down there and

4:31

it was fun to be around

4:34

and see people who I've never thought

4:36

cosplay before cosplay . We

4:39

got to sit in there on some panels . There was a Disney

4:41

panel we sat in on . That was really cool

4:43

. We watched some people do some video games

4:45

, but

4:47

overall , like the experience of the con

4:49

was really cool . I

4:52

did have kind of

4:54

like a slight issue before when

4:56

I did Typhoid Mary from

4:58

Marvel and

5:00

it was just like , well , isn't

5:02

she white ? And

5:04

I was like she is , but not today

5:07

. So

5:09

I've gone through like

5:11

a lot of my friends who are

5:13

really great cosplayers

5:16

and we get the same thing that

5:18

character isn't black and I'm like , well

5:20

, you know what they

5:22

are today .

5:26

Yeah , and so that's one

5:28

of the things that we always want to address is

5:30

, like you know there's and

5:33

you do a fantastic job

5:35

, folks . If you

5:37

guys follow KOARY on TikTok

5:39

, you will see that she does an amazing

5:41

job of finding

5:44

and cataloging heroes

5:47

of color , like heroes and villains of color Every

5:50

time , like it's so many that comes out . I

5:52

like them because it

5:54

reminds me of representation

5:58

and stuff that we don't really speak

6:00

of because it's not so prominent , and so

6:02

when you do race bend a

6:04

character , you get that pushback

6:06

simply because black

6:09

characters or characters of color haven't

6:11

been that prevalent in comics or

6:14

in really less so in anime . So

6:16

you know , when you guys

6:18

go out , is it really , is

6:20

it a lot of pushback , or do you guys just

6:23

hear people kind of under their breath challenging

6:25

you guys on the fact that you raised bent

6:27

a character ?

6:29

A lot of the times it's kind of in the background

6:32

because you know some people will be like oh my God

6:34

, I recognize that character , you did a really good job . And

6:36

then , like somebody else in that group , they'd like

6:39

you know I thought that character was

6:41

different race and you know they'll

6:43

either tell them well , you can do whatever

6:45

you want to like , as long as you're not

6:48

, like you know , black-facing

6:51

a character . I think that's where some people get

6:53

confused because , like people there

6:55

are women who love Storm , who

6:58

are not black , and they feel like because

7:00

they're not black , they can't cosplay . Of course you can

7:02

, as long as you

7:04

have the hair , the eyes , the outfit

7:06

. We know who you are . It's really not

7:09

that big deal . But , like

7:11

you know , if you decide that you're going to

7:13

paint your face brown for

7:15

some reason , you don't have to do that , just like you

7:17

don't have to like shape

7:21

your eyes to be a Japanese character that

7:23

you saw in an anime . Like you don't have

7:25

to do any of that , and so it's always like it's

7:27

not really upfront until you

7:29

get online , but like when

7:32

they're in your face they

7:35

don't want the physical

7:37

consequences of what they say

7:39

. So they'll be like oh my God , I love that

7:41

. That is really cool . And then they'll get back later

7:44

on on some anonymous page and be like

7:46

oh my God , I can't believe she

7:48

did that . That character's not black , so

7:51

it kind of depends on , like , how

7:53

bold they want to be .

7:57

Because we were just at Galaxy

7:59

Con in Raleigh here in North Carolina

8:01

and I saw

8:03

several different iterations of Starfire

8:05

. Now we've got the Anna Jop Starfire

8:08

from Titans and people went

8:10

nuts about that . But I saw

8:12

white Starfires and I saw Black

8:15

Starfires and I saw folks who literally

8:17

did the orange you know Teen

8:19

Titans , body paint , starfire

8:22

, and so it's really . There

8:24

are really no rules as long as

8:26

I don't think you're disrespectful to

8:29

the character . And so I think sometimes

8:31

you know , if there's a black character that

8:34

white people want to portray , they feel

8:36

like they have to do the physical

8:38

embodiment of it and not the spirit

8:41

of the character . And I think this is where we

8:43

get into these

8:45

consequences and we get into these conflicts

8:47

it's because you don't feel like you can

8:50

represent the character without the

8:52

color .

8:53

Make it interesting guys .

8:54

And it's really the spirit of the character that

8:56

we all should be coming together around . So

8:59

when you and your friends get together and you guys

9:01

cosplay , like

9:04

, how

9:06

much of the inspiration of

9:08

the original character do you take

9:10

and how much dramatic license being

9:13

that the character is not originally of color

9:15

how much creative

9:18

license do you take with it from

9:20

that when you decide ?

9:23

I sometimes think like it's like an even

9:25

split . So my sister wants

9:27

to do Jessica Rabbit , but

9:31

the only thing that

9:33

she's really going to do is the hair , the makeup

9:35

, the dress , the gloves , because there's not

9:38

too much else that you can do with that character

9:40

. So I guess it

9:43

just depends on which character it is

9:45

, because you can do like a 50-50

9:47

split , like the exact

9:49

spirit of the character and

9:52

then your own little spin . So when I do

9:54

a character from like a

9:56

video

9:59

game , ari , for example , from League of

10:01

Legends , I love

10:03

her , but I

10:05

always choose a skin

10:07

of hers . Because she has so

10:09

many different skins , I always choose

10:12

a skin of hers to do because

10:14

then I can get a little bit more creative with it

10:16

. So like how Storm has

10:18

a million of one different outfits because she is

10:20

absolutely a fashion icon , I

10:22

chose for her a

10:25

outfit that she had it's all pink

10:27

outfit , white person . She went to Mullins . I

10:30

chose that because

10:32

then I could get creative with the things in my closet

10:34

. So it just depends

10:36

on what

10:39

you want to do , but it can always be 50-50

10:42

, or you're going

10:44

to take the idea of , oh , she

10:46

wore this outfit in this universe one

10:48

time and then that's the only thing that

10:50

you take is the outfit , and then just the

10:52

rest of it is just your own complete spin

10:55

. So it's like a 90-10 split type

10:57

thing when

11:00

we pick ours . We want to do the Powerpuff

11:03

Girls as a group cosplay , but

11:05

we found the colors

11:08

and we know their personalities , so

11:10

which girl goes to their personality

11:12

? And then the colors and then the outfit

11:15

is just us . Whatever

11:17

outfit we put together , however

11:19

we choose to wear hair , afro or gown , but

11:22

it's just like kind

11:24

of . You have to

11:26

just kind of decide if you want

11:29

to be the exact character

11:31

or if you want to have the inspiration

11:33

of the character and be yourself with

11:35

whatever you put together .

11:38

I remember a couple years back in cosplay

11:40

there was a big kind of steampunk

11:43

thing

11:45

running , Like everybody was doing versions

11:47

of character and steampunk .

11:49

And it was . It was fine , yeah .

11:51

Yeah , and it never really resonated

11:53

with me , but I get it . And

11:55

then you had the Batman

11:57

by Gaslight come out and

11:59

it was really set in that Victorian area

12:01

around the steampunk and

12:04

so there was kind of a push of that . But

12:07

why is it so important for

12:09

young women of color , and

12:12

black women in particular , to really

12:14

assert themselves in the world of

12:16

fantasy and animation and

12:18

anime ? Why is

12:20

it really important ? Because I know we have these

12:24

battles around representation and we have these

12:26

battles around what we're

12:29

trying to portray in terms of

12:31

the

12:34

fandom and accuracy and people are really on

12:36

comic book accuracy , which is

12:38

really just a code word for keeping

12:40

it white . Why

12:43

is it so important that you guys take

12:45

a stand , that women take a stand

12:47

and be represented in all

12:50

facets of

12:52

fandom and I mean I'm not just talking about in color

12:54

, but

12:57

also in height , in shape

13:00

, in body representation , because

13:02

comic books always paint

13:04

a very unrealistic version

13:07

view of the female

13:09

body . And so why is it really important for

13:11

young women of all shapes

13:13

and sizes and colors to be represented

13:15

in the fandom today ?

13:18

It's just because we like

13:20

growing up we didn't have it . So

13:22

my very first anime

13:25

was Akira , and then after that it

13:27

was Princess Mononoke . So Princess

13:29

Mononoke , that's my girl . However

13:32

, there are exactly zero

13:34

people of color in the

13:36

movie . But

13:38

I love that movie . And when

13:40

we get into , like character black characters

13:43

who were represented in Dragon Ball Z with

13:45

the big lips and the dark skin

13:48

, and they changed

13:50

Mr Coco from being black to blue at

13:52

some point in time but he was like midnight

13:54

dark with these super people in it . But

13:58

then you get into characters from Naruto

14:00

, where the only issue

14:02

with the any black character that I had in Naruto

14:04

wasn't even how they looked , it was how he was

14:06

talking . Killer B was

14:09

talking like rap lyrics

14:11

, almost . So I'm like ills . But

14:16

because

14:18

we get people from I think she's from Hunter

14:20

Hunter , canary , where

14:23

she is just absolutely amazing

14:25

and then the New

14:27

Castlevania coming out where we have black

14:29

and indigenous vampires and that fight

14:32

between the

14:34

voodoo girl I think her name's gonna be Annette's and

14:36

the black vampire and they have that fight going on

14:38

, I'm like what

14:40

the heck ? And it's important

14:43

, because what we were watching

14:45

when we were younger was not us

14:47

Like we could connect with

14:49

them on a personality level , but on

14:51

a looking level we can't , and so

14:53

I think it's just really important that we get that

14:55

push and everybody's so excited

14:58

for these characters that are coming in , like Generation

15:00

V for the boys , where we've got

15:03

some black characters coming through with some powers

15:05

and it's just like an invincible

15:07

bullet . Proof is about to come in , the rag

15:09

is about to come in and I'm just like I'm

15:11

here for it , all of it . I'm so ready .

15:13

Yeah , and I think the biggest

15:16

thing is that and I'm glad

15:18

you said , mr Popo , because honestly

15:21

, I grew up and I'm much older than

15:23

you and I grew up in watching

15:25

the 1932 match fly shirt Superman

15:28

cartoons , where the Japanese

15:31

people were like the Asian

15:33

people , were drawn with the

15:35

very slant eyes and the big teeth , and

15:38

black people had the big pronounced

15:40

white lips and the very dark skin

15:42

with the small plaids and things

15:44

, and I remember that . And

15:46

even with things like Looney Tunes

15:49

, when they would shoot

15:51

them and blow them up , they

15:53

would resemble the little nigglets , the

15:55

little nigglet cart babies that they

15:57

used to make in the South during slavery

16:00

, and it was always this , such

16:02

a negative representation of

16:05

what black people look like . And

16:07

so now , as we progress

16:09

with the art , we

16:12

should see a more physically accurate

16:14

view of what we look like . I

16:17

was just watching my adventures with Superman

16:19

and Perry

16:21

White is black and

16:23

Jimmy Olsen is now a brown kid . But

16:26

if you look at the hands , the way the hands are drawn

16:28

like , it still has that homage

16:31

to the old anime style

16:33

, the way they drew black

16:35

people with the very pronounced

16:38

shades of things like lips and hands and stuff

16:40

like that . And

16:43

so we haven't all haven't gotten there

16:45

, but I can say we're definitely

16:47

moving in the right direction . But

16:49

it's gonna take pushes from

16:52

creators like yourself to be able

16:54

to inspire the artists and the writers in the room and

16:57

then , hopefully , creators like yourself

17:00

and myself we get in the rooms

17:02

to be able to influence that . And

17:05

so what do you see in terms of the direction

17:07

of the industry from

17:09

reaching out to creators like yourself who

17:12

have this , who

17:14

are able to influence what people

17:17

see in terms of the representation

17:19

of the characters ? Have you been

17:21

reached out to by anyone and said hey , you've got a clearly large

17:23

following on across

17:25

social media . Is

17:28

there an opportunity for you to get in , to , maybe influence

17:30

that ? Is that something you wanna do one day

17:32

?

17:33

I do . Actually , one

17:36

time when I was doing Trinary , marvel's

17:39

official page had

17:41

, like the video , shared the video and

17:43

they kind of just like kept it because

17:46

Trinary is kind of like one of their new and

17:49

I think she's from Iraq

17:51

, I wanna say . But I

17:54

haven't reached out to personally but

17:56

I do have other creator friends who

17:59

are with platforms a bit bigger than mine , who

18:02

have been reached out to and

18:04

they've kind of given their ideas and

18:07

we are kind of seeing it . We're

18:09

kind of seeing the try . Some

18:11

people are trying a little bit too hard , like when

18:14

they did the what if for Miles Morales and

18:16

he was Thor and it was so bad

18:19

. But

18:21

then you know , they Did

18:24

the one when he was Wolverine , when

18:26

they did what if you were in Wolverine was

18:28

great . The third one was not

18:31

great . I don't know why they got that .

18:34

This . I just talked about

18:36

this at on my panel at

18:39

galaxy con . I literally

18:41

just talked about the fact that , if I ever

18:43

see like there were no black people in the room

18:45

when this was discussed

18:47

there couldn't have been anybody in

18:49

the room because it never would have made

18:52

it to the light of day If there was any

18:54

black people in the room that said you guys

18:56

can't put this out , like it was

18:58

really that that was one of the worst

19:01

, most disrespectful

19:04

almost what

19:06

else that I've ever seen like I . I love

19:08

Miles Morales , I love Thor , both

19:10

of those characters . But the

19:13

idea that you would just take Thor

19:15

, take Miles Morales and reduce

19:17

him to some , you know , really

19:20

bad hip-hop slang .

19:23

Speaking in the rap lyrics and

19:25

when they did

19:27

, the one who was playing sif

19:30

and she came in and she was like hot

19:32

wings coming in high and I was like what

19:35

? And then he is me

19:37

on here was graffiti

19:39

and graffiti

19:42

. And then when he was a biotin fade

19:44

and I was like he

19:46

doesn't even have hair , so why are we doing

19:48

that part ?

19:51

It was . Honestly it was , it was . It

19:54

was disrespectful like it and I don't

19:56

I don't think there's any other word I can really

19:58

use to describe it was . It

20:00

was like a black spoilation film from

20:02

the 70s . It was like so

20:04

disrespectful . But you know , and

20:07

I think this is where we have to make

20:09

sure that we're not Just

20:11

accepting representation for

20:14

representation sake , because

20:16

just because there's a black or a brown face

20:18

as a prominent character

20:20

, does it mean it's always good and it doesn't mean that

20:23

it's it's progressing or

20:25

Doesn't mean that it's moving the

20:27

ball forward . It could be setting us back .

20:31

Yeah , and I was almost kind of how I felt

20:33

when they did , when

20:36

they did do Starfire

20:39

in Titans , like

20:41

she here is our token black character

20:44

, yeah , and then she

20:46

was just she like had hooker clothes on

20:48

and I was like , okay

20:52

, and then they tried to erase that

20:54

by making her a bit bigger

20:56

and then , but then they

20:58

brought in her sister and her

21:00

sister was like it felt like a setback

21:03

to me and I'm like so are we going

21:05

to go forward or are we going to go back ? What is happening ? And

21:09

then when they did Naomi , nobody

21:11

watched Naomi . As powerful and as great as

21:13

Naomi's story is , nobody watched Naomi . Because

21:16

the first five minutes of the first episode I thought

21:18

I was gonna be sick . I

21:21

was like this is absolute garbage and I don't

21:23

understand the Vixen . Vixen

21:25

should have had her own show or movie by now . They

21:28

gave her a cartoon on the CW that came on at three o'clock in the

21:30

morning . They want us three o'clock in the morning . If

21:32

you didn't catch the three , everybody don't watch it . And

21:35

I was like our truth is so bad

21:37

and it's like there are so many really

21:39

good characters , which

21:41

is why I do the comic book characters

21:44

. I was like everybody that I've ever

21:46

talked to . I'm like who's your favorite black character

21:48

? And it's always the same ones . It's

21:51

blade , green Lantern

21:53

, storm , black panther , luke

21:55

Cage . And then

21:57

I'm like , well , you know , there are this

22:00

list of people and they're like I've never heard of them , I

22:02

know .

22:03

Yeah .

22:04

I know . And this

22:06

is why this is where they do that all

22:08

the time . They introduce a really good one , and

22:10

then they just go away .

22:12

And this is why I Really

22:15

so much love your , your page

22:17

, because I think the first time I

22:19

really discovered your

22:22

page and what caused me to

22:24

follow you was you introduced

22:26

Trevor Barnes . You reminded

22:28

of you were talking about interracial relationships

22:31

in Comics and you brought up

22:33

Wonder Woman's black boyfriend and

22:35

I remember that . I remember

22:38

that those series of Comics

22:41

and it just clipped . I was like , oh my

22:43

god , trevor Barnes . I

22:45

remember Like because

22:48

he was from Charlotte , like he was from North Carolina

22:50

, and I remember that that's what kind of remember

22:52

mine to me and I was just like there's

22:54

so much history where

22:56

we had , you know this

22:59

, this really this blip of

23:01

Representation and it just

23:03

got wiped away . You know , you know Batman

23:06

has had interracial relationships

23:08

and you know

23:10

Barry Allen has had interracial relationships

23:12

. There's been so many times where You've

23:15

had these relationships that just

23:18

didn't work out , and I mean obviously they With

23:21

the , the CW flash , with

23:23

Iris Allen being black now , and

23:26

so it's been there but it

23:28

hasn't been sustained and so like

23:31

. This is why your channel and and and

23:33

folks that do what you do on

23:35

social media , it's so important to the fandom is

23:37

because it's the education . So

23:40

we don't feel like we have

23:42

to necessarily argue to

23:44

race being the character . There is

23:46

a rich history of our

23:48

character representation in

23:50

comic books . Now , hopefully

23:53

going forward , we see it in anime , like

23:55

you know , with with Castlevania

23:57

coming up , I remember afro samurai

23:59

, like all those . But I would love

24:02

to see more in anime like is that something

24:04

that you Want ? Because the anime

24:06

folks came hard ? It's

24:09

the cons like . They come hard at the cons , even

24:11

more so than superhero Cosplayers

24:14

. Is that what you're hoping for

24:16

in the next you know few

24:18

years that we see more of

24:20

what , say , castlevania is doing

24:22

in the anime world

24:24

?

24:24

I do

24:27

and I think Because

24:29

I think a lot of people also missed out on

24:32

yasuke , mainly because , I

24:34

mean , the story wasn't center focused around him

24:36

, like I think people wanted it to be . But

24:38

if they were to get a new season , the

24:40

director was like I have a yasuke

24:42

focused one here . So something

24:45

like yasuke , definitely something like what castlevania

24:47

is about to do . Cannonbusters was

24:49

not bad to me . I absolutely loved that

24:52

. So like people were like hey , that shows

24:54

, like how , and

24:56

even when we had some Hispanic

24:59

representation with sayes , monos and

25:01

Tracy , just like

25:03

the representation was there

25:05

. But it's like it wasn't a A

25:08

Japanese solo studio

25:10

who did it , it was somebody here

25:12

who teamed up with a Japanese

25:14

studio . So I would absolutely love

25:16

for , just like straight Japanese

25:19

anime to give us characters

25:21

, like especially the way that they did Hunter

25:25

hunter with canary , and when

25:27

they did the characters from Naruto

25:29

, I Loved them . They

25:32

looked normal . It was just

25:34

that one who it was killer bee

25:36

who was talking , was driving me

25:38

insane , but his design was

25:40

amazing and then , of course , he was badass . So

25:42

it was like I want that and

25:45

hopefully , when people

25:47

see how we get this black

25:49

and indigenous vampires in Castlevania

25:52

, that it'll push more

25:54

forward and we get like the

25:56

more representation . There are some , like webtoons

25:59

and manga , who do have really good

26:01

designs for black characters , so hopefully

26:04

they come Forward

26:06

with .

26:09

So what ? So what are you reading now ? So

26:11

what ? What if , if

26:13

you had your , if you want to share with the

26:15

folks your playlist , like , what are you reading

26:17

? What are you watching now ? Because

26:19

you're always on point with

26:22

With either the

26:24

historical aspect of comics and anime

26:27

or what's coming down the pipe . So what

26:29

are you watching right now ?

26:31

What do you ? Right now I'm getting ready for a soca

26:33

because a soca is about to come out . But

26:36

I did find some new

26:39

anime , zom

26:41

100 . Of course that one's really

26:43

good , relatable , because of course I would

26:45

love for the zombie apocalypse to keep me from going from work

26:47

. My

26:50

card is one that

26:52

I think is so underrated

26:55

and it's not talked about at all . It

26:59

has two people of color in

27:01

there for sure . I don't know what the . I don't

27:03

know what they are , but they're

27:07

definitely of color and

27:09

really , really interesting

27:11

to look at . High card is a really really good anime

27:13

. And

27:16

then , as far as reading , the JLA versus

27:18

Godzilla and King Kong is

27:20

about to come out , so I'm waiting for that

27:22

. And of course , this whole wedding ceremony between

27:25

Emma

27:27

Frost and Tony Stark

27:29

going into the fold X and then like just

27:31

kind of the relationship friendship that's forming

27:35

between Wanda and Storm Is

27:40

getting my is like it needs more

27:43

attention because I think people forget

27:45

that she does have magical prowess

27:47

and now that Wanda's mother Died and became the

27:49

mother of all witchcraft , anybody who is connected to Wanda

27:51

is now connected straight into like all the most powerful magic . So

27:58

I'm like , now that she can in you her lightning magic . We

28:03

have a problem here .

28:05

He is definitely a problem and the crazy thing

28:09

is , I don't think , I think people Understand

28:12

how powerful storm is , what nobody

28:15

knows how powerful storm is . Because

28:17

if you look at her , her mutant ability and the

28:19

, the omega level mutant

28:22

ability , people forget about the fact that she is literally

28:25

a

28:28

Godhead , like , like , has the goddess head and Magic

28:32

, and I think people don't understand

28:34

that . And now that that and I agree

28:36

with you I would love

28:39

to see that the relationship fleshed out , and

28:41

I'm always , you

28:43

know , I'm always

28:46

the one that I love to see characters , especially main characters

28:48

, get a boost . Like I love that , like I I don't

28:50

believe in nerfing characters . I

28:54

believe , if that character is supposed to

28:56

be powerful , that character supposed to be powerful

28:59

and like I want to see it , and so Storm

29:02

getting this and and and increasing

29:04

her magical ability . I'm here

29:06

, I'm definitely here for it . So

29:09

, so those are some great suggestions . So

29:11

when are you going to be

29:14

next and where can people find you ? Just

29:16

give yourself a plug and then we'll . We'll wrap up for

29:18

today . Um

29:22

, well , like I said , at the end of the month

29:24

I will be in Atlanta for Dragon .

29:26

Con and

29:29

then I would be in LA in December for LA comic-con

29:31

. I'm not sure

29:33

if I'm gonna be there , but I'm gonna be there . I'm gonna

29:35

be in LA in December for LA

29:37

comic-con , but I

29:39

am , of course , always on tiktok , k-wari

29:43

Akari , it should still be that . And

29:45

then our my nerd on

29:47

the street has a Podcast

29:50

that we started . We are about to be on episode

29:52

three at our four-year anniversary is

29:54

actually the first day of Dragon Con , on the

29:56

31st of this month . So

29:59

we finally got the podcast kicked off and

30:02

it's on Apple Music , spotify , google

30:05

Podcast , samsung podcast

30:07

, all stuff . And then we have our

30:09

YouTube channel . Now we just

30:11

go , we go live on tiktok and then I have like

30:13

the replay on our YouTube channel

30:16

, which is nerd

30:18

on the street still .

30:20

So yeah , well , folks , all that will

30:22

be in the show notes . You'll be able to find links

30:24

To Christina and

30:26

all the great stuff that she's doing . Follow

30:28

her , like her channel , blow

30:30

it up , guys , if you want to be educated

30:33

on anime and comics

30:35

, there's definitely want

30:37

to follow , and so we appreciate

30:39

you being here today . I know you're on the west

30:42

coast so it's a little earlier . It

30:44

is on the east coast , but great

30:46

to talk to you . Um , just all

30:48

the great stuff that we , you're doing . I commend

30:50

you for being a great example for young

30:52

women who are really pushing

30:54

forward in this industry . Pushing

30:57

the door , kicking the door is open Representation

31:00

and doing it very well . You

31:03

guys are . You know , guys , you guys are inspirational

31:06

. I have I have two , you know

31:08

, teenage daughters who love anime

31:10

and they love comic books , and you

31:13

know you're a great Representation

31:15

of the fact that you can do this

31:17

and and do it at a high level

31:19

and Be true to yourself

31:22

and and the characters , and so thank you

31:24

for being with us today and we really

31:26

appreciate you being a guest until we're

31:28

politics podcast .

31:30

Thank you for having me , it was fun .

31:32

Absolutely , like I said , go follow

31:34

Christina , dr Kari . Great

31:37

follow and folks remember we

31:40

all have . We're all connected

31:43

in this world . We're all connected in this , this

31:46

fandom . It's room for everybody

31:48

. No , we , we don't have to gatekeep , we

31:50

don't have to push folks out . We , we

31:52

can open the door and we can see some

31:54

really great interpretations of this

31:56

material , because it's it's

31:58

fantasy , it's imagination . It's

32:01

the one place where we can all come together and express

32:03

ourselves Without condemnation

32:05

, without , without pushback . You know

32:07

, be kind to one another , continue to push

32:09

forward the industry for everyone and , like

32:11

I said , we always stay on superhero politics podcast . You

32:14

don't have to be superhuman to be a superhuman

32:16

. Until next time . This

32:19

is your host , michael Holmes , and we'll see you

32:21
