In 1985, Sammy Hagar took over the vocal duties for the mighty Van Halen. Eddie was already increasingly adding keyboards to make more melodic Van Halen songs. When Sammy starting writing songs, he starts adding the word "love" where it wasn't before. These additions were a change in style that worked for some fans and not for others.
