This week on Table Talk Chel and Jan discuss breaking free of fear.
SHOW NOTES
What the Bible says about fear…
When I am afraid, I will trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, In God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me? Psalm 56:3-4
Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another… There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love” (1 John 4:11, 18).
Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Psalm 27:1 Of David. The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
A lot of “don’t be” but HOW?
Trust that God is loving, your protector, provider, in charge
Stories of fear in the Bible:
Jesus Calms the Storm (Mark 4:35-41)
So Do Not Fear (Isaiah 41:10) people turning to idols in their fear…
We are inclined to worry rather than pray, and we often neglect to seek God’s peace.
1 Peter 5:7, however, reminds us that although anxiety is a reality, the biblical response is absolute assurance in the strength of God’s care.
