Getting wise with the Countess at Royal Clarence this morning from the four poster in the penthouse.

good morning world welcome welcome to a little bit of paradise at royal clarence marina now then i have been clearing out the penthouse for the decorators and i'm really marching through it actually i'm pretty amazed at you know even my own skills but you know what i find breaking it up into small pieces is the way forward here because if you look on a big project and you look at it as a full sort of picture it can be a bit overwhelming you know so you do one little thing and then stop for a cup of tea this is my this is my secret to success lots of cups of tea or coffee in the morning i'm on coffee at the moment anyway what else is new well i wanted to give you a warning actually about giving away too much information on the internet now my mother was selling something online via marketplace you know she's a bit of a um she's a keen antique dealer i mean she calls it antiques i call it tat or rubbish i i really don't um you know when you look at a piece of rubbish that was purchased um originally for not very much money and has been passed down from one rubbish collector to another rubbish collector i don't i'm not sure that you can really see the antique value in it however my mother would argue with this until she was blue in the face so anyway she was selling a piece uh an auntie actually funnily enough the the piece that she was uh selling was a copy of a very highly collectible ceramic um i can't remember the name of it because it's not posh enough for me and anyway it wasn't a hummel but it was similar anyway the person it had come she didn't say it was uh this um original uh you know she said it was a copy so there was nothing untoward and it was a few pounds nothing not too expensive well eight actually let's be specific it was eight pounds so the person came to collect and arrived no she didn't uh invite them in because the thing with marketplace marketplaces or any online selling if someone's coming to your house are you going to let them in are you going to ask them up to the penthouse i mean you know this is something that's one should never do one should always have them downstairs meet them downstairs in the foyer or the car park that's my advice anyway this person who was a local uh i won't name and shame on the radio um they came and they were covered in gold jewellery probably plate probably hollow and um you know trashy trashy looking person and either that might sound rude but i don't care they were trash and um they got her talking and the they were quite sort of pretending to be well they probably were quite knowledgeable because you know how knowledgeable do you have to be to deal in chat i don't know and they got her talking so intently that they didn't pay can you believe it and she didn't notice until they'd gone and this is this is a typical con artist's trick is to distract and get chatting and you know this is when slight of hand occurs now on two occasions darlings two occasions i also have tried to sell my tat and people have given me a little bag of money with a knot in it a big knot or a carrier bag with some coin uh detritus at the bottom and you know i'm not about to a scabby bag you know and i'm not about to sort of open my bag and delve in or so the neighbors can see or you know it's just not it's so it's so ungainly isn't it it's so vulgar to count money all that salmonella and twice i've got up to the penthouse and the there were one or two pounds short of the said amount one one person came to buy um a collection of charms and they were you know that i think there were five pounds and she paid me in shrapnel and i didn't count it because for the you know the reasons i've just said and there was so much of it and then when i got it in i thought i will just count it and i was a pound short just like well these people you know and the funny thing is if it was 500 pounds you'd definitely count it wouldn't you you really would so anyway uh poor mummy poor mummy has to deal with that today so i i was very very um angry yesterday i was actually fuming and i thought well you know there are some things we can do but the other thing is i i was selling some vivian westwood online on marketplace also i'm never using it again by the way after after this week and um the uh a couple of people who seemingly had fake accounts messaged and asked for my phone number now my real name isn't on my facebook but most people have their real names on their facebook and the at the moment there are all these uh con artists putting up um these flyers saying what was the name of your first car now how many people have that as a security question what is the name of your first car and do you live in the same town you were born in and all these things and what these um con artists are doing uh stealing your identity so if they know you your first car your address your phone number your age because they say some of these uh questions are you know these flyers or how will you how old will you be in 10 years and so now they've got your date of birth because your birthday comes up on facebook too now they know the year now they know that the name of your first car and and and they probably know your address because you're on marketplace this is how it happens identity theft has rocketed rocketed now i certainly don't want anyone stealing my identity because i've had enough trouble finding it myself over the yes oh dear what a day and you know what i was thinking about crime and if you mustn't take these things personally if you get ripped off by somebody or something or some you know the the the person is probably not a person it's probably a conglomerate in you know a foreign part um and you can't it's very easy to think uh to feel affronted and upset because somebody's been cruel to you but you you can't take these things personally because you're just a digit a statistic um a bit of data nothing more and it's very it's very easy to get upset but don't the other thing is with crime i was i was thinking about this a lot crime hello darling miss romeo's come to say hello um i was thinking about crime and and what it what crime means why are there so many criminals and lots of people in the world

are really looking at crime as a career as a trade you know and the all business all trade has a has a cost and a profit doesn't it a cost and a benefit and crime is no different either the cost is the risk um jail or putting lots of work in i suppose and getting nothing back from it same as all business actually um but certainly a prison sentence would be the the biggest cost to that and the benefit is is profit and crime has relatively a good profit so you need to sort of think it's just their trade you know now i'm not going to get into is of course i'm enlightened i don't know if you know but i'm an enlightened individual and i have moved beyond the normal ordinary antics of humans um because i'm a because i'm a musician and a writer and a creator and i think musicians and writers creators and creators are somewhat enlightened anyway we're born somewhat enlightened and but also i've achieved enlightenment because i understand humanity and this is something that happens to old ladies it and i want that for you know i said to my daughter recently i want enlightenment for you because it's a wonderful place to arrive at and you you see things for what they are and you know you begin to see that these things should not be taken personally that they are huge the acts of human um impulses and in that way it helps me understand why things happen to people and what you can do to avoid them of course enlightenment is a very special thing i'll be doing um some ted talks on enlightenment and it's not something that you can sit down and say to somebody right we're going to enlighten you today it's something you have to achieve through your own through your own endeavor your own mental and emotional endeavor and for me it was through music definitely um and through uh being ill having cancer and recovering um all of these things all happening at the same time and then of course that menopause thing i think menopause is quite an enlightening time for many many people now i'm not a man so i'm not saying that men are less enlightened um or am i no i'm not honestly i would never say that anyway um it's enlargement comes through uh spiritual um realization for many people faith and i i can understand why the scriptures um why the quran why the bible why any um spiritual uh avenue would lead to enlightenment i understand that exactly although i'm not a religious woman enlightenment comes in many many forms anyway i'm sort of digressing there but the point is if you get ripped off by some scabby individual don't get don't take it personally humanity needs to feed itself and lots of people think on a very small scale so they're trying to rip you off with a bloody you know two pounds and one pounds and you know five p's and whatever whatever and these people are not enlightened they're really not enlightened if you're enlightened you are not uh going around ripping people off for a few pounds so um there we go that was my waffling on for today now we have got chapter part two chapters one and two second arthur clendor the uh what is it scarlett the study in scarlet um i think we're going through this now it's about 40 minutes not too long i'm doing a lot of broadcasts today because i'm talking about advanced cello bowing and um bow weight and fingertips how exciting obviously if you're not a musician you wouldn't be vaguely interested in any of that so i will be also popping up some entertainment as well i'd like to just welcome india who is now my climbing up to be my biggest listener this week um welcome and the russians obviously as i said
