Rich Chorné, a Ruidoso, NM musician turned recording artist and producer brings home New Mexico’s Best Blues Album Award at a ceremony hosted by the New Mexico Music Awards on May 7th in Albuquerque. The kudos are shared with Montrose Records owner Richard Cagle who also sang on the album. “This honor is an acknowledgment that this little Ruidoso neighborhood harbors top musical talent and can produce music at the highest levels. I’m proud to bring this honor home,” Chorné states.
This album features three vocalists besides Chorné; Richard Cagle, Kathy Lyon, and Tommy Lepson. Chorné penned nine of the twelve songs. Some songs are close to Rich's life experience such as You Gotta Have Faith, a song about his father's advice, and Bordertown Blues, a song about El Paso. Walkin' With My Baby, sung by Richard Cagle, was nominated for Best Blues Song. Rich looks forward to supporting this album with live performances.
Rich Chorné, a native of El Paso and UTEP graduate, has been a regular performer around Ruidoso and El Paso. He has a history of touring and living in the East Coast where he produced his first four albums. He retired in Ruidoso, NM and was inspired to continue writing and recording when he met Richard Cagle. “It’s been a remarkable ride, and I’m grateful for all the gifts and opportunities that have come my way” Chorné reflects.
