Did you know that Scholastic has a librarian? They do and we speak with her this episode. During this episode, we speak with Deimosa Webber-Bey, the Senior Library Manager at Scholastic. She shares all the cool things a librarian does at Scholastic, her love of reading books and comic, book recommendations, The Scholastic Kids and Family Reading Report and Scholastic Summer Read-a Palooza, an opportunity to read and give back, and so much more.
Author Bio:
Deimosa Webber-Bey MSEd MSLIS is the Senior Library Manager at Scholastic and responsible for the corporate archive. A Dartmouth alum and NYC native, she was in Cohort 5 of the NYC Teaching Fellows, and taught 4th and 8th –12thgrades in public schools in Far Rockaway, Queens, East New York, Brooklyn, and New Mexico; in this capacity she has trained with the College Board and the AP Summer Institute, and prepared students for the NYS ELA and NYS English Regents exams, as well as the ACT. Deimosa also worked as the TeenLibrarian at the Rio Rancho Public Library in New Mexico. She has published in YALS (“Noise @ Your Library”, 2008) and The Journal of Interactive Technology and Pedagogy (“Runaway Quilt Project”, 2014). The oldest of six children and a life-long vegetarian, Deimosa enjoys reading, writing, hip hop, comics, and quilting.
