Michael Kowalski is the founder of Storienteer, which is exploring augmented-reality, as well as the programme director of the Confluence conference this February. Before all that, he worked as a software developer at the Guardian and was Head of Publishing for a digital initiative at News International, as well as founding two other businesses, Kitsite and Contentment.

In this episode, we talk about what augmented reality, or mixed reality, actually is and what it could mean, as well as the delights and perils of building a business based on a technology that's only just emerging - where the task you're tackling is to establish the basic grammar and rules of the new world. Also, the complexities associated with a business that's supplying tools for other people to use to build their own products.
