Meet Paul Jackson, Pet Management Consultant, Pet Containment Specialist, Dog Trainer and local franchise holder for DogWatch® Hidden Dog Fence systems. Paul has invested the last nine (9) years of his life providing pet safety solutions and training products in Trinidad and Tobago through his company Trini DogWatch.

Paul's passion for animals was developed during his early childhood however, the sudden and tragic death of his family's twelve year old dog, Bomber left an indelible mark on Paul's life.

In this episode we talk about:

  • His early years spent time with family dogs Brownie, Buffy, Spookie and cat, Missy
  • Discovering the body of his beloved 12-year old dog  ‘Bomber’  who  escaped the family home one morning and was struck and killed by a vehicle.
  • Being 10 years old and experiencing not just despair for his loss but also frustrated at his feeling of helplessness.
  • Introspection playing a valued role in appreciation of one’s life calling.
  • The support and endorsement of his father when he advised him that he was switching careers from banking to one focused on animal safety and containment
  • Making the transition from banking ‘office life’ to installing hidden pet fences
  • Pet Enter "Pawz",  a 6 week kitten who ‘found’ Paul at the then newly opened C3 Centre... Classic Puss N Boots eyes and 4 years later (lol). Her engagement has taught him many valued life lessons.
  • Pawz' role  being important in him appreciating cat behaviours and how that knowledge  supports him in supporting cat parents who experience challenges and safety concerns.
  • Safety and Exercise - what pets at home need  in order to maintain a balanced and healthy life and stimulate/maintain their natural instincts.
  • What's Next? - Dog Walking services are on Paul's Trini DogWatch agenda to be introduced this year in Trinidad & Tobago. Busy agendas can limit same for pet parents and recent events like Covid-19 have also impacted routines and placed additional strain on pet parents (greater demands working from home: Zoom meetings/online classes).

Paul's commitment to responsible pet ownership is undeniable as can be attested to by his loyal clients and of course his own beloved pets, Zip and Pawz!
Ultimately, it's always life-affirming when an individual finds alignment with their true purpose. Paul Jackson's story of loss, trials and testimony gives listeners hope that you can always arrive 'right on time' if you listen to your heart.
