RATING
Enjoying these discussions as much as I enjoy the show itself, which isn't something I would have expected. There's a warmth in the conversations, Ed keeps it going at a fast pace so there's never a lull in the conversations, and the BFF is just a Bonus.
Always a great laugh
It's brilliant that there is an official Taskmaster podcast, with Ed being very knowledgeable and getting guests on who really know their stuff (at least on the whole). However, the Production of this podcast is not great. You can tell the interviews are recorded with video first - there's a lot of bad quality audio in the episodes at the best of times and whilst there is obviously a bit of leeway thanks to the pandemic, there are also things like Ed *repeatedly* coughing in consecutive episodes which should have been removed. It says it all when I'm relieved to hear a guest has a proper microphone as a majority of episodes have really bad audio quality and it pulls you away from actually listening to the podcast. My suggestions:1) Emphasise the audio. If you must record with video, get people to also record their audio separately so there is a good quality copy of both sides of the conversation.2) Editing is there for a reason - use it. Don't leave in coughs. Don't leave in bits where Ed has had a second crack at saying things. It just sounds unprofessional. 3) The incidental music - while fantastic - is far too loud in the episodes. Pair it with the speakers' volumes. It also comes in slightly too soon - you should leave a bit of silence (maybe .25 sec at most) before the music comes in, just to make it sound like that bit of the conversation has actually finished. There was at least one in the Series 2 recaps where you could tell (even without an editor's ears!) that it had been cut mid-sentence, not even mid-conversation.The content would easily get four points overall (outside of the occasional bit of bias when friends are on the show or when you just get someone on basically to seat-fill) but the editing & production is a solid two stars most of the time.
