IT IS exciting to offer the audiobook teaser of my thriller Olivia’s Turn through an iTunes podcast.

The audiobook production of Olivia’s Turn was a passion project that consumed me. I’m about to go into production on my next audiobook, which will be for the Beltway Series. Which book? Email me if you have a preference… So far, my debut novel Below the Beltway is winning.

Audiobooks are hot.

Younger adults – Nearly one-quarter (23%) of 18- to 29-year-olds have listened to an audiobook in the past 12 months, compared with 16% who had done so in 2016.

College graduates – The share of college graduates who have read a print book or listened to an audiobook in the past 12 months has increased by 6 and 7 percentage points, respectively, since 2016. Notably, the share of high school graduates who have listened to an audiobook in the past 12 months has nearly doubled over that same time frame, from 9% in 2016 to 16% today.

Rural adults – Adults living in various community types are equally likely to listen to audiobooks. But 17% of those living in rural areas have listened to an audiobook in the past 12 months, up from 10% in 2016.

Audiobooks were always part of the plan when I dove into fiction.

Olivia’s Turn is a perfect dramatic vehicle for an audiobook.

The book is about the past we harbor and that we shun and put aside because we are afraid to walk through the darkness to get to the other side so we can use what has made us who we are without triggering insanity, or nervous collapse.

How far would you go to get what you want?

Olivia Stark isn’t any different than the male characters in Showtime’s “Billions,” who go to extremes to fulfill their desires.

It’s just few people expect such fierce behavior from a woman.
