CULTURE wraps itself into a ball this week, with Melania Trump doing a rewrite of Hillary Clinton’s 1992 remarks in the “60 Minutes” interview with Steve Croft.

We’re talking two very strong women taking on the worst subject for a wife to address: her philandering spouse.

That’s what I write about, strong women and the men they love.

A CNN article on Mrs. Trump’s interview with Anderson Cooper got my attention on this subject, which I talk about in the podcast.

Monday night, although Melania spoke to Cooper on behalf of her husband, it’s notable that she did so a mere 48 hours before the final debate — and on her own, without him by her side. Her remarks, too, seemed to make the point that she was standing up just as much for herself; as she told Cooper, she doesn’t want anyone’s pity. “I’m very strong,” she said. “And people — they don’t really know me. People think and talk about me like, ‘Oh, Melania, oh poor Melania.’ Don’t feel sorry for me. … I can handle everything.”

No politics or partisanship, just an eye on culture and strong women.

It segues easily into another reading of Below the Beltway (The Beltway Series, Book 1). This one revolves around when Alex Gantry, our heroine, meets T.J. Gale, our hero. Things don’t go well but it’s only the beginning.
