Hello friends! We’re so excited to be back after our holiday hiatus with more Twilight content for you all, in this episode we will be covering the first half of Eclipse. Before you listen to this episode we do want to address that this episode and the next two will have mentions of sexual assault and grooming. We are issuing a Trigger Warning for these episodes because unfortunately these sensitive topics are deeply embedded in the plot. If you find these triggering in any way, skip this episode and the next two, and we’ll see you next time!
Eclipse is a pretty heavy book and our approach on this episode is a bit more critical in a literary way than in previous episodes. We talk a lot about Edward and Bella’s shifting relationship dynamic, Bella as a character and how she has to fight so hard to be heard, and Charlie’s fall from being a 10/10 dad to not prioritizing his daughter. We have some squee moments as well, like the addition of the most perfect and sweet character: Seth Clearwater and our undying love for Rosalie.
In this episode we talk about Stephanie Meyer’s cultural appropriation of the Quileute Tribe’s stories and her depiction of the tribe itself throughout the series. So for the rest of our coverage on the Twilight Saga we will be including this link in our episode descriptions: https://mthg.org/ It’s for the Quileute Move to Higher Ground, their mission is to move the tribe out of a tsunami zone and into a safer location. Once again, thank you for joining us for this week’s episode! We’ve missed you so much and are excited for more episodes to come. We will be back with Part 2 of our Eclipse book coverage soon.
