Well, hello teachers, and welcome to your Monday Mindset Podcast episode.

0:04

These are short, little snippets of thoughts, reflections that I share with you on a weekly basis, that are focused around mindset things that we can do to live our best lives, to live an intentional life, and I invite you to not just listen to these for yourself and how they apply to you and your life, but consider sharing them with other people too.

0:25

Consider sharing them with your students every Monday and having a conversation about it and doing a reflection together, because I think a lot of these thoughts, these topics, these questions are just a part of being human, and sometimes being human can feel lonely and to know that other people are struggling through some of the same challenges that you are and are benefiting from having these types of conversations is hugely powerful in allowing us to get to be the best version of ourselves, to take who we are and who we be and who we show up in the world as to that next level.

1:05

So I really hope that you enjoy these Monday Mindsets and, if you do, let us know over on our Instagram at EVacademics.

1:12

Thanks so much for listening and let's dive into our Monday Mindset.

1:16

All right, so I'm coming at you with another post from Marie Forleo that she shared.

1:23

That really got me thinking. And she shared this picture of like handwriting on a piece of paper hanging in a window, and it says it's okay to want more.

1:34

And I want you to think about this, from whatever that means to you.

1:40

That could mean more success, that could mean more love, that could mean more friends, that could mean more free time, that could mean more whatever.

1:53

Fill in the blank. And I think for so long, our whole lives, we've been conditioned to not want for more, which I get.

2:03

There's also this concept of enough and being content with.

2:08

I have enough, I don't need any more than this, and I think both get to be true at the same time.

2:15

And this is a whole other concept that we can go down, this rabbit hole too, of we live in such a world of it's either this or that, it's either or, and not many of us live from a place of both, and and when we do live from a place of both, and that it is okay to want more.

2:32

And this concept of enough can both be true at the same time.

2:37

And I think it's whatever you choose to bring into your life that makes you happy, that makes you feel good, that makes you feel fulfilled in your life.

2:48

And so if this concept of it's okay to want more is a helpful thought for you, then adopt that thought that it is okay.

2:58

No one is judge. There's nothing inherently wrong or bad with wanting more, other than maybe what we've been told by people in society, by our parents, by our friends or whatever it might be.

3:11

And so if you have this like deep desire in your soul and your being for something more for your life, then heck like, go for it, lean into that.

3:26

That is your intuition guiding you towards something bigger.

3:30

It is okay to want to dream big.

3:34

It is okay to have ambitious goals.

3:37

It is okay to not dim your own light because of fear of somebody else judging you.

3:46

Oh my gosh. It's a whole other concept that we could go down that rabbit hole too, of getting to a place where it's okay to want more.

3:54

And I'm not concerned about what other people think about me wanting more because I'm happy and content with who I am, because I know I'm a good person, because I know I'm coming from love, because I know I'm coming from peace, from joy or whatever it is.

4:07

And when we worry about other people judging us for that, we again are giving our power away to somebody else and like this is your life, this is you.

4:20

If I got hit by a bus tomorrow, would I be happy and content with how I've chosen to live my life, or would I be bummed that I allowed other people's opinions of me to dictate what I choose to do?

4:33

Like to be super existential with you on this.

4:39

Like, really think about that. Don't allow other people, don't allow society, don't allow what everybody else is doing to hold you back from your dreams, from thinking bigger, from wanting more.

4:54

It is okay to want more.

4:59

That is okay. There's nothing inherently wrong with that.

5:03

And in fact, I would argue that if you go after what you really want, whatever that is love, relationships, success, time, freedom, whatever in your life, whatever that means to you because it's going to mean something different to every single person who hears this when you go, do that, you are living into your authentic self, into what you really want, and that is an inspiration to other people.

5:31

And anybody who is judging you has a lot of their own stuff that they've got to work through first in order to be able to get to a place where you are in your life, and so, instead of viewing it as I'm worried about what other people are going to think of me, I view it as how do I get to be a lighthouse for other people of what's possible?

5:53

That is such a different perspective.

5:56

It's such a different way to look at life, and I just love it so much.

6:00

So if there is something more that you are wanting in your life and the thought that it's okay to want more is a helpful thought for you, then I invite you to try it on for size and see how it works for you.

6:14

All right, you guys.
