Have you ever wanted to see through something, Superman XRAY style? Well, if you have a OnePlus 8 Pro, you can. This device has a unique feature that allows it to see through certain materials as if they were transparent.
Any camera can see infrared, such as the type of light emitted from TV remote controls, but some OnePlus 8 Pro users have discovered that the phone can see through plastic by using the monochrome color-filter camera sensor. A good example of this is the type of plastic used on the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. It can see right through it! It seems to be able to only see through plastics that don’t have any kind of infrared shielding.
It’s really easy to try out for yourself. Just open the OnePlus 8 Pro’s camera, then switch the color mode to “Photocrom.” You’ll then be able to see through non-IR-shielded plastics, and who knows, maybe some other materials. Sounds like it’s time to experiment with this!
This obviously was not an intentional feature by OnePlus, and it more than likely won’t have any practical application, but it’s still cool, right?
The OnePlus 8 Pro is actually a really nice device and is worth picking up one even if you don’t need XRAY vision. Aside from the color-filter camera, it’s also got a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor, 8GB or 12GB of RAM, and 128GB or 256GB of storage, depending on the options you choose.
You can pick one of these phones up for $999 on Amazon, and if you think that price is ridiculously high to pay for a phone, then maybe you should check out this article for some clarification.
