Welcome to a profoundly moving episode as we sit down with Angie Hanson, who bravely shares her grief journey that began in June 2006. It was a heartbreaking start as her 1-year-old son, Garret, passed away suddenly in his sleep due to an undetected heart condition. Tragedy continued to unfold when, 1 1/2 years later, Angie's husband, Jack, was diagnosed with Stage 4 terminal Ocular Melanoma. After a 16-month battle with chemo and radiation, Jack lost his fight in February 2009. In a heart-wrenching series of events, Angie's brother, Seth, who had been battling a brain tumor for 5 years, underwent a third surgery and, tragically, didn't recover. He passed away just two months after Jack, in April 2009. The thread of grief persisted as Angie unexpectedly lost her sister-in-law in 2018 due to alcoholism.
Despite these immense losses, Angie has found strength in her mission. She's successfully launched "Butterflies + Halo's," an online greeting card business focused on offering hope to grieving hearts. Her dedication extends to a podcast she co-launched called "From Loss to Light," aiming to change the narrative around grief and dispel the stigma associated with it. Angie's mission is clear: to educate everyone on grief and empower them to navigate it positively, fostering a culture where conversations about loss are met with understanding rather than awkwardness. Join us for this enlightening conversation as Angie Hanson shares her resilience, passion, and commitment to transforming the way we talk about grief.
