Welcome to the first installment of Trauma Transcended, a new series on The Addictionary podcast where we discuss the ways people have transformed their relationship with past trauma of all kinds. We often discuss the importance of integration on the show and aim to showcase how people can achieve such a state of energetic harmony by engaging their pain and suffering with awareness, clarity, and light. In this new series, we will capture it all! If you are a Carl Jung or Stan Grof fan, this is the segment for you.

Today, MissMaeg and Gaia are joined by self-changer, seeker, and person in recovery, Justin Downey, who shares his remarkable search for peace from his trauma, addiction, and former life of unhinged chaos. Justin and Maegan have an in-depth discussion about Justin's approach to his recovery, what worked, what didn't, his thoughts about AA and it's foundational principles, plus the role that spirituality played in his life. Justin explains how Hindu scriptures and philosophies, namely the Bhagavad Gita, and breath work techniques (specifically the Wim Hof method) helped him nurture his new take on life. Justin's past may have been filled with shadows, but his present experience gleams with light as he describes his intimate relationship with the things that have helped him heal in a sustainable way.
