Our idea of Witnessing as Christian has changed over the years. For me, witnessing is it about revealing Jesus to other people’s lives. To give all your love and faith to someone that can’t see. As we know it not easy. Over time things have changed, people do not react the same to the Gospel. We as the church are in deep need of deeper, more authentic vision of the Christian faith in our culture. We need to look at things from the outside perspective and allow God to use us to reach out to this young generation that is in so much need of Christ.Church Need to Understand the ProblemThe church needs to recognize the problem we have, where there is a generational gap in the church from sixteen to twenty-nine. “This is a significant segment of American society.” The problem is how these young people perceive Christianity. They have this skepticism about Christianity that brings some challenge for the church. One thing I have to agree, and I believe we all do it in some capacity or another; As Christians, we have to avoid being defensive about the culture. Our task should be to transform lives through an effective spiritual discernment in love and investing time to educate those that have this wrong view about Christianity and church. We as Christians make a lot of mistakes, and often those mistakes and because our arrogant attitudes have become costly when presenting Jesus to a none believer. It not just about proofing Jesus in a logical matter. It about presenting Jesus in a loving, accepting matter that wants to give you a deeper meaning and purpose in your life.As I look back, I have discovered the problem the church has is, that we are not being educated properly on how to deal with unchristian people. We have also forgotten the simple principle of humility and love towards one another. We need to understand that young people perceive the world in a different way. Lifestyle has changed over the years. The church needs to adapt to those changes without changing the message of Jesus. This generation of young people is missing. One point that the writer of unchristian touch that really impacts me is that, “Spirituality is important to young adults, but many consider it just one element of a successful, eclectic life. Fewer than one out of ten young adults mention faith as their top priority, despite the fact that the vast majority of this young adults attempt a church during their high school years.” I believe this is a problem of pour education and wrong delivery when it comes to teaching our children about the importance of Jesus in our lives. How can we change the perception of Christianity? First love people as we say we do. And this judgmental attitude that these young people perceive in us has to change. Our motive need to change, they will see you coming from a mile away if your motive is not the right motives. They see the world in black and white they want to deal with real people, they are resistance to Christianity because they believe we are not real. We know God is wise enough to handle this complex generation. It is our duty to be wise enough to understand what God expects of us and ask him for guidance on how we should approach our missing generation of young people.
