In the first, we pass along a news story about a businessman in the tech world who wants to launch a worldwide universal basic income. Sounds good, right? Maybe it sounds almost too good to be true? Well, it probably is because all the guy wants is to scan your retinas in exchange for a crypto UBI. Staying on the topic of money, we have two Ludicrous Leadoffs about classic games selling for way too much! In the first, we discuss what was, for a very brief period of time, the record paid for a classic video game with the $870k paid for a rare copy of Legend of Zelda for the NES. Immediately after that, we share the new record price paid for a collectible video game in the form of the $1.5 million paid for a still sealed copy of Super Mario 64. After all that, we discuss Nintendo’s reveal of a new model of the Switch, simply called the “OLED Model”. We have a few thoughts to share on that topic, mostly questioning Nintendo’s decision making. In our Blast From The Past segment, we fete the anniversaries of the movies Escape from New York and Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, as well as the debut solo album from David Lee Roth, Eat’Em and Smile.
